It does not matter if you disagree with the business model. It is the standard model used by most industries. If you have a bakery and most of your customers only buy pie you don't make a lot of extra cakes.
Unless bakeries all offer near equal cakes and pie and enjoy significantly better sales... Or don't offer both only one, but then you offer both just do one poorly... wait...
This is a terrible analogy. :P
...and really far from standard.

P.S.: I tried playing Klingons twice. Bored me. Besides, Starfleet has more and pretier ships ^^. Just like in all the Star Trek series. Honestly, what did you expect? The source material on the Federation is vast. Klingons? Huge, but by far not as big.
It's difficult to even know what the percentage refers to.
As the game stands, every single KDF player is also a Fed player, because you can't be KDF without having been Fed for 24 levels. The reverse is obviously not true.
Wrong. You can run all-KDF by deleting the Federation character, which is what I did. I have three KDF characters, a tactical, an engineer, and a sci. My tactical is my main, and my PvP character.
I want no part of the Federation, and I'm tired of them being the favored faction by default, especially since the 'reasons' for it are mostly BS. It's Cryptic's fault to begin with that the KDF faction isn't as big as it could be. Even if they were to right all the wrongs and bring KDF back to the forefront, they've already lost a valuable opportunity. They've driven off other KDF enthusiasts, and any member of the Klingon community who's heard of STO will also know that Cryptic shat all over the Klingons.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.

I kept my fed starter toon just to have access to the fed crafting items. It's hard to get some of them mk XI phasers on the open market for my KDF toons.

FTP players only get 1 Fed and 1 KDF character slot. Those slots are dedicated to that Faction and cannot be switched, even if you buy additional slots.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Some of us still have 100% hope but if the reports are true from Tribble we may have only gotten 18% sloppy paste.luckily or purposely my fears are unfounded and we should look forward to May.
I don't care if it's 18% or 21% or whatever the number is. I am proud to be a member of the KDF minority (I have a fed toon but I almost never play it).

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. My account's ex-sub, so I get a few extra privileges.

I would think the exact opposite. Players trying KDF will often become quickly bored with the grind and turn to something else.
Why would they grow bored of the KDF "grind?" Are of you the belief that it's somehow faster or easier to level, or otherwise improve your character on Fed side? I can assure you, whatever it was like in 2010, KDF is as easy or easier than Fed these days.

They would grow bored because the KDF only have 9 Faction Missions - and then access to the FEs. So you either keep replaying the 9 to get to the FEs or you need to grind or PvP to advance. Lack of Mission content makes for boring play if you're not into PvP.

And even PvP can get boring for some, especially with the PvP in this game being the way it is. I don't really get tired of Ker'rat, but others might.

18% was quoted so long ago that it's really a non-issue anymore.
But, if you want to know what the ratio is of Federation to Klingon players spending money on the game, I'd suggest looking at C-Store offerings. Whoever is getting the most faction exclusive C-Store offerings has the largest population, the more out of balance the disparity is, the more out of balance the population disparity is.
I see a few in each sector either ship or on a station or planet. During the week I get on some to do DOFF missions and if time a mine and Deferi run for Dil. Lately while at DS9 I usually see a pile of Feds, and about a handful of KDF.
At the New Romulus area, I usually see about the same ratio. That is where my Fed is at doing the Rep there. Soon as my Fed is done there. I will swap out my Fed with KDF. Send the Fed to the DS9 section and KDF to the Romulus for the Rep grind.

Good point. There is May to look forward to.
