My my, people get hostile when they're drug of choice is shut down for maintenance. Come on, do something like, I don't know... read? Watch tv? Nerd rage over some Star Trek misconceptions in a blog? ******** about it being broken doesn't fix it faster and odds are, they're not combing through pages of comments to read what you say lol. Chill out, have a candy, and be patient. Derp.
    Are you free?

With STO being offline I finally tried to do it...

    ...

I finally went outside. But the moment I did these gray puffy things tried to drown me, then this big yellow/white ball of light tried to fry me...

So I'm staying right here where it's nice and safe... :)

Just kidding. Did some yardwork while the server is down. And I'll be making Garlic Fried Rice and some fried Tilapia for lunch soon. :)
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"

"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

Anyway with the server being down a came across a new problem. For some reason, I can no longer find the launcher anywhere on my computer. Is anyone else having this problem, is it just me not knowing where to look, or is this expected with a down server. Don't hate me for asking an honest question.
    Thanks

To quote another poster "We can complain because we pay for these services" - or something to that effect.

    Also because it's fun.

If that's the case then I feel sorry for that person that has no compassion and I feel sorry for you as well.

If that's the world and how people think they should act and treat other people, paying for the service or not.

The younger generation have no patience or respect for others.

    *shakes head in dismay*

    :(

originally offline for an hour, then add another 45 minutes, where has fifteen minutes vanished to.

Actually they posted at 6pm saying it'd go down in 15 minutes for 1 hour. Then they extended it by 45 minutes, 6pm + 15 minutess + 1 hour + 45 minutes = 8pm. You just forgot to calculate the 15 minute advance notice for the downtime.

    Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online in 15 minutes for emergency maintenance -- we expect this maintenance to only last for 1 hour. The test server may also be unavailable during this time.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

    - The Star Trek Online Team

UPDATE (7:08PM PDT): We're extending maintenance by 45 minutes. New ETA is 8PM PDT.

6 minutes guess we'll see if they extend it

I think you will find every MMO has these problems and the staff will always do there absolute best to fix it within there power to do so.

Stop whining and leave them be so they can fix the problem, they do read these threads you know and most likely think "What a bunch of ungrateful players they are."

So you cant get on for a few hours. Go watch a film, play outside, talk to the other half in your life, play with your neglected pets or the old classic read a book or something.

The game will still be here when you get back and it will still be here hopefully in the future.
This was well said by azrealdragonking

Look I have issues with the game as well and I pay every month to play it. Be patient relax if cryptic didn't bring the server down you all would be complaining that they didn't when they do bring it down to fix it you all complain about that. If anyone here thinks they can do better then pack your bags and go work for them and help otherwise stop whining and relax and let them do there job so we can enjoy being able to play the game.

Actually hyman is fine, that's just an obscure male name, and probably because it sounds like the word the OP was thinking of. Change the 'a' up a vowel and you get the word he wanted. That is unless this is another of those Birttish/American differences :P The only reason English is so hard to learn is because there's too many dialects of it.[

I grew up in Alabama and now live in Tennessee. Aside from being kin to myself, methinks I should be offended about you accusing me of speaking dialects. Wait ... what?

Hope you get it all sorted...

And for those who are bickering at each other or at the PWE staff I have this to say - arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics, even if you win, you're still TRIBBLE.

Well by that analogy you yourself are "Retarted" or the PC term "Mentally Challenged" because your stating that "arguing online" is point less which in itself IS an argument as well...

I've seen and flown alongside SDF ships in a few STF and similar over the months. Didn't think you were all like that. Good pilots in my view.

However, I remember Stormbringer from GO2 very well indeed.....and, if it is she, I'll be happy to meet her in PvP anytime and return her to you in pieces.

I hate to spoil it for you, but it turns out our purpose in life is to either:

    A) Transcend our physical form and become beings of pure energy, capable of shaping the very universe with our thoughts

    or

    B) Turn into salamanders and bone our captains
    You forgot
C Turn into mushroom food and be forgotten.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC
