yeah this is a good way to keep players cryptic i put intold amounts of dilitium and credits into fleet base and when i was finally allowed to buy fleet weapons there was none avaiable to fleet stores were replenished so i got andorian gear because it was good bow you come along and say verb refering to fastening things. what is wrong there if you messed up change all future releases but dont nerf them that are already installed. you did exact same thing to borg gear weapons we all played the stfs for you brought a new currency and nerfed them,

Panic over. It appears you'll get your refunds.

Everyone can put away their pitchforks and torches for now.

    Hardly,

whilst I applaud Cryptic's decision to offer Dilithium refunds on this (and boy that must've hurt since it sets a precedent), we're still looking at:

[Acc]x2 [Dmg] Mk XI weapons released with Mk XII stats
    Players buy them
Weapons get nerfed to Mk XI (which no-one at endgame wants)
    Players get refund
Mk XII weapons added to Fleet Stores (unconfirmed but most likely [Dmg]x3 [Acc])

So, really nice weapons introduced, then nerfed then replaced with weaker variants that you need to be in a Fleet to obtain.

And a whole lot of player angst and Cryptic's time wasted - time paid for by the players with lockbox keys and C-Store purchases.

I don't really call that a win - just further evidence of Cryptic's non-existant QA, complete lack of understanding as to what its players want and shady business practices.

I see nothing "shady" about this practice. It seems entirely honest and forthright...for a change. Naturally, this makes me suspicious, but I am willing to wait and see here. A mistake was made, a refund will allegedly be issued. Non-existent QA, no doubt, considering they threw the ships together in about 2 hours, and certainly a continuing lack of understanding about what people actually want, but not a shady business practice...this time.

I am perhaps the furthest possible thing from a Cryptic/PWE apologist without descending into completely irrational hate, but I do say, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I consider it shady because Cryptic made the nerfs to these weapons on Tribble before coming up with a compromise for those that had already purchased them.

i.e. they felt it perfectly acceptable to do this without any recompense and only stated that they'd implement something once the community called them up on it - if they could have gotten away with this, they would have.

This sort of anti-consumerist behavior is fast becoming the norm with STO - and it's shady.

In simpler terms - if you catch a thief trying to pickpocket you and he apologizes and gives you your wallet back, does that make it OK?

I bought these weapons due to the stats.

If the stats gonna change on the weapons in the store okay but leave the stats on the already owned weapons alone or let the weapons be turned in for the purchase cost.

I have no use of the weapons if they get downgraded, i would have spend the dil somewhere else.

Good news - you can trade them back for the Dilithium you paid for it. No loss to you!

This was exceedingly well handled. Refunds for those who want it and high grade weapons for those willing to drop the fleet credits/dilithium.

    I disagree.

Extremely well handled is having a solution in-place or a dialogue with the customer prior to changing the terms.

ArchonCryptic (or somebody from the team) should have created a thread announcing the changes and the proposed redress.

I can't fault Cryptic for addressing player concerns - I can fault them for continually overlooking them and then having to deal with the aftermath after the fact.

It amazes me how many people there are on these forums like yourself that feel their money and time is worthless - has the system really beaten you down that badly?

Or is your devotion to Star Trek and/or this game, really that blind?

    Here's some new info.

Existing Andorian Phasers from the Dilithium Store are being changed to "Prototype Andorian Phasers". These will still be getting the bug fix that adjusts their stats to Mark XI, however, they can be traded in to the Ferengi Collector (the same one that collects Prototype Consoles) for a box of Refined Dilithum with the same amount as how much they cost. Essentially, a full refund for the item.

New Andorian Phasers with the correct Mark XI stats will be available on the Dilithium Store. These are identical to the prototype ones except that they can't be traded back in to the Ferengi Collector, since their stats properly reflect their mark now.

Finally, for those of you who want more powerful Andorian Phasers, we will still be putting Advanced Fleet Andorian Phasers on the Fleet store in the near future.

    Thank you for your patience.

Wow..first time for everything...now we will have a Ferengui doing REFUNDS at STO. Can we yell and him and kick his ###? Would be better if you have a DEV NPC so we can vent our frustrations of another major NERFing at STO....what you expect from them...they nerfed SCI, Foundry, lately the MKXII cryo pulsewave...if you are having fun...it will be nerfed :D

^^^^ I'm in complete agreement! I'm so glade I didn't wast my money on those weapons now.

Or maybe I recognise when a developer has made a mistake and then made up for it in the most equitable manner possible.

How dare you Cryptic give players a refund on something you messed up, you're monsters and every time to listen to us, you make me look bad when i insult you.

I do love how players love to give real world examples, but when cryptic gives a refund like a real world thing...oh no not good enough I want it how it was....but in the real world if you get a broken toaster, they either give you a new one give you your money back, but they don't give you a Cylon.

Those weapons should have been ranked Universal Level like the Spiral Wave. To rank them with normal Dilithium weapons is just silly considering you have to unlock the ship to purchase them.
You know Cryptic has Jumped the Proverbial Shark when they introduced Tractor Pulling to Star Trek Online! :D

I think they should add some kind of detector program to tell if I'm playing another game more after they make a blunder like this one.

It might help their decisions in the future.

I guess I should get ready for the rainbow boat cries in STFs because my Phasers will be Orange now along with the Blue wing cannons.

Did they actually nerf the Andorian phasers this patch?

Sort of. The Dilithium Store Andorian Phasers are supposed to be Mk XI, but were released with Mark XII stats. They are correcting this error and offering people a refund of the dilithium through the Ferengi Collector on ESD.

As for all the whiners out there: If you bought Zen to get these weapons, then stop complaining. You'll get your dilithium back. Those of us that grind for it, however, are out months of work. Still, even I see no point in complaining about it. As far as I can tell, Cryptic made a mistake, corrected it, and is offering compensation for those seeking it. They have done what any company would do in this situation. Stop complaining, get your refund, and move on with your lives. Or stop playing STO.

All MMOs evolve as problems are discovered. Sometimes there are balance issues, which are fixed in the name of fair play. Sometimes their simple typos. There have been plenty of those in STO, and there still are. Sometimes items don't have the right stats. This game is constantly being updated, making it unlike any other currently available. When it released, it was only a shadow of what it is now; an empty vessel waiting to be filled with content. Such a game must be able to change, and the players must be willing to change with it. The devs have a difficult job, as they must create content for us to play, fix errors, balance gameplay, keep us happy, and present their vision of Star Trek, all while trying to stay true remaining true to the franchise. Their job is stressful enough. Let's not make it more so by complaining about every little thing we don't like.
