Hello STO community,

The purpose of making this thread was for all the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier fans/captains out there who I have seen post help and requests for a decent PvP build for this magnificient vessel. Well, here it is!! After suffering for hours, testing, troubleshooting, I believe I have come up with a build that will allow you to play according to its role in the battlefield, and will work like a beast in PvE.

IMPORTANT!!! --> This build is best employed by those who have a general understanding of PvP gameplay in STO. Advanced understanding of tactics and keybinds will help you, such as a proper single-key mapped tanking/ability rotation which is highly recommended.

Let's begin!

YOUR ROLE
You definitely take on a supportive role. Anything you used in PvE will probably not work. If you use DHC's, sorry you wont hit the broadside of a barn, because this ship is very poor at turning. You are not the main tank. You are not the main damage dealer. You are not the main debuffer in the group. This ship's has a hybrid role, it takes bits and pieces of all roles into one. I have named it --> pressure-debuffer.

PRESETS
I recommend having your 2 main presets as follows:

Attack Preset - Wep 100 / Shield 50 / Engine 25 / Aux 25 (this is better for PvE & pressure)

Defensive Preset - Wep 50 / Shield 50 / Engine 25 / Aux 75 (this will be your main)

You should always use your defensive preset with the high Aux setting as your primary in PvP, this is an integeral part of you keeping alive. The Attack preset should only be used if you have a clear advantage and wish to add more pressure, maybe even to kill a severely weakened foe.

THE BUILD
(Boffs) *All human boffs will stack up the Leadership trait for more hull regen*

TACT COMM: Tact Team 1, Dispersal Pattern Beta 1, AP Delta 2, AP Omega 3
TACT LIUT: Tact Team 1, Fire at Will 2

ENG LT COMM: Emerg Pwr To Aux 1, Emerg Pwr To Shield 2, Rvrs Shld Polarity 2

SCI LIUT(universal slot): Trans Shld Strength 1, Hazard Emiiters 2
SCI ENSIGN: Polarize Hull 1

(Doffs)
3 x Shield Distribution Officers, 2 x Damage Control Engineers

(*Weapons)
Fore Weapons: Breen Cluster Torpedo, Advanced Fleet Polaron Beam Array Mk XII (x 3)
Aft Weapons: **Chroniton Mine Launcher[CrtH]x2 [Dmg] , Kinetic Cutting Beam, Advanced Fleet Polaron Beam Array Mk XII

*this is of course an example, you can use any damage type you want, avoid Plasma, make sure you have at least one [ACC] suffix on it.
**For the mine launcher, I could not find one with an [ACC] suffix, so even a [CrtH]x2 is totally fine, works well for me

(Shields/Engines/Deflectors)
The whole borg space set

(Consoles)

Eng Consoles: Dominion Command Interface, 2 x SIF Generator, Neutronium Alloy

Science Consoles: 2 x Field Generator

Tactical Consoles: 3 x (For your damage type), Assimilated Borg Console

(Hangar)

Advanced Danube Runabouts (<--- at least one of those), and any other of your choice, ex. either more Runabouts for more debuff/slows or anything to add more pressure via DPS. Those that have access to the JHAS hangar pets, their Beam Overload & Anti-Proton sweep is a good example of adding that little bit of extra pressure.

TYPICAL USE
Spam... SPAM... S-P-A-M I can't say this enough. Spam your pets everychance you get, keep them out there. Spam mines!! Try following the same flight path in the midst of the battle, and keep pooping out mines that overlap this flight path, someone is bound to get hit. Spam sub-system attacks, everytime you can, control the battefield this way. Spam Analyze Weakness, oh ya this one is cool, once you see the vulnerable system, have you and your mates SHUT IT DOWN. Use Fire at Will to cleanse the battefield of any enemy team spam :)

Your tank. Well I personally was quite disappointed with the BOFF slot layout when I first looked up the ship stats before buying it. I thought for a ship of its size, the Tactical focus was a bit of an overkill. However, I have overcome the intial design flaw, by literally playing "the cards I've been dealt" to make a huge flying deathtrap, into a pain-in-the-butt to take down. You see I added Attack Patterns Delta and Omega, why? Because of the resistance bonus you get from them. Delta gives quite a large bonus at rank 2, and debuffs your attacker for the same amount, which is nice. Omega will not only give you a good resistance as well, but will break you free of any holds, make you turn better, and move a little faster, which always helps... Plus a damage buff :)

Those 2 tactical buffs mixed in with your regular tanking rotation: All your Emerg to X powers, as well as Transfer Shield Strength, and Tact team(s), will make you this ship quite tough. Not to the level of a cruiser or Science Vessel, but it can hold its own, and I have proved it. The Borg space set adds some nice little yummy extra hull regen and some nice little set bonuses to further improve your tank. The Assimilated Console adds a bit more to your Hull repair skills, which is always a plus. Use all HUMAN boffs, stack up that passive hull regen. Polarize Hull... soooooo nice, but its a situational power, dont underestimate how wicked this power is for resist and tractor resist. Lastly, don't underestimate what your 3 Shield Distribution Officers can do for you. When they are all of purple quality, they have a 50% chance to add an instant shield heal when you activate Brace for Impact. On many occasions, upon using BFI, i've seen that the 50% chance did proc for all 3 of those Doffs and I got a near fully recharged shield heal to all my facings, that's awesome. Lastly, your hazard emitters should keep you nice and healthly from the Aux boost it gets from EPTA.

With some practice you will certainly fit your role to harrass and weaken your opponents while your team's main damage dealers kill them. Remember you are there to lend fire support and debuff. You're not the main healer or tanker, your not an escort, and you can't debuff nowhere near as good as a science ship. STICK to your intended role as mentioned here, and this ship will perform very well.

-Cheers-

you couldn't find one, because [Acc] doesn't come on mines

no point when they always hit
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

There are only 2 things that I'd say I have as a problem with the build is:

I'd rather have Dispersal Pattern Beta vs. Alpha, mostly because the Mines spit out better and not over time.

I'd rather use Transfer Shield Strength 2 and Hazard 1.

Other wise looks some what solid.
You think that your beta test was bad?

A tact capt? Oh yes 100%, I'm a tact capt. Any captain can use this.

Eng capts can use this effectively and increase its survivability with their career powers

Sci capts can use this as well, however sub-nuke may be a problem with its turn rate.

    OK cool.

I've tried building the jem dread and using it, but I cant seem to keep it alive long enough in my tac. Granted, I was using a DHC build and using it like a HEC with the JHAS fighters.

Question though, you would use the full borg over 2 piece borg and elite fleet shields?

And, I know you said avoid plasma but what about the rom plasma beams?
