A little thing to help Cruisers& Science Ships.

First off, give all T5 escorts 3 device slots, all science ships 4 device slots, and all cruisers 5 device slots.

Then convert a lot of the low level C-Store consoles to devices. Things like Photonic Replacement, Emission Seeking Torpedo, Nadeon Detonator, Grappler, Impulse Capacitance Cell, Repair Platform, Magnetometric Generator, Resonance Cascade Modulator, and Barrier Field Generator would work much better as devices rather than consoles.

This would make Cruisers and Sci-Vessels more powerful, utilize a very underrated part of your ships equipment, as well as making them more likely to be purchased from the C-Store. ;)

Thirdly, make more devices.

A couple of ideas to get you started:

Rapid Repositioning Device: Flips your ship 180 Degrees.

Advanced Targeting Systems Device: Gives access to all ensign level targeting abilities. (Yeah, this one is pretty much intended for Cruisers only)

Emergency Medical Hologram: Yup. Bring this thing back as a device.

Self Replicating Mine: Craftable, Consumable, Limited to one per character. Creates a mine that lasts for 100 seconds, behaves like a normal mine, but duplicates itself upon detonation after 5 seconds, all mines continue to duplicate in this manner, but all mines self-destruct without duplication after 100 seconds.

Electromagnetic Craft Launch System: Boarding Parties, Space Fighter Consumables, Fighters, and other combat pets move 200% faster for 30 seconds after being launched.

I know I have more, I'm just not thinking of them at the moment. Oh, and I might add that these devices would be available for any and all factions.

I'd like to see more devices in general besides just batteries and the couple that are used.

I agree wholeheartedly. More consoles for sci/eng would greatly increase their viability in combat. Especially when those consoles increase the strengths of the class. It would let us play with a much more dynamic and focused style.

It would be definitely a start into the right direction IMO.

I agree, devices strike me as something that you have a lot of them, and swap them out rapidly as you need them. That buy definition means they're marketable. ;)

i like the idea, more weapons, more uniqueness :D

More of this and less complaining over things that can't or won't change :D

I don't like device poppers but i would def be interested in some of these.

Faction-based NPC signals, not the Operation Assets that can only be used in a handful of instances. Why should a Vice Admiral have to rely on Romulans for fire support when they're over 50% health? Why can't I call in a Defiant or Galaxy (or a Vor'cha, if playing KDF) instead of a Mogai or D'deridex?

I do, swap 2 device slots for a hanger. Useable on any ship.

    Main Shuttlebay:

Device that adds half a hangar to make any ship(but particularly the Galaxy Class)a viable carrier.... (Those scorpion things from the Vault mission are TRIBBLE without being able to be given orders)

But that would make escorts even more powerful.

I agree with changing the device slot amounts and adding more devices. Perhaps making certain devices work with certain classes of ships, as well. Basically, turn devices into an extension of 'universal consoles', although make 'em consumables.

I don't deny that but it does give cruiser and even FED carrier pilots more of a punch... Nothing, not even the ultra-rare scropions match the death-dealing from the Jem'Hadar Attack Fighter and B'rel BoP carrier pets.

A defiant with fighters? How do they fit through the door? :P

I do think that with some cruisers should at least be an option that you could always fill with something else if you don't like them or they didn't fit the scenario.

How about a HET Device then? Based off the game Starfleet Command, it would boost turn rate by over 150% or so. (That's why it's called a High Energy Turn :P )

I thought I was going to read some ideas about how to revise the encounter mechanics to actually make cruisers and science not be dead weight. My mistake.
