Quality of STF players suddenly dropped?

elandarkskyelandarksky Member Posts: 1,013 Arc User
Just asking if anyone else has been feeling that the people who queue for pug elites have gotten a bit more... derp-y recently?

(yes, tell me not to pug, and yes my answer is, shush.)

But normally when you run the EASY elites like ISE players get the idea that the group flys to the left, takes out the cube, then the nanites, then transformer... riiiight?

Then what's with every other ISE run there is always one or two people who wisely fly to the right, ignore the cube, and blow a single gen before either attacking another gen or oh so just as wisely attack the gate?

:confused::confused::confused:

Other instances of derp-yness that keeps occuring is people who have pre teamed and 'accidentally' clicked elite instead of normal.

They dont reply

The dont have a clue what to do

Or if its a ground mission, charge into rooms spamming help when they are knocked on their TRIBBLE >_<

TL:DR
Has the playerbase suddenly increased in derp?

    haven't done many lately..

but I have to admit they have been pretty much okay.

I find that if I do them mon-fri from 10am-11pm US EST they are pretty good ( when i'm not at work anyway lol ).

    Weekends..*shiver*.. horrible.

I find many fleet missions now with many .. unknowledgable? players because of the whole FM removal thing from the foundry.

    I know your pain :|

Weekends I abstain from pugs because it gets THAT bad :(

But through this week, I've found pug matchs to rival weekends, and after the Nth amount, I've just become a 'ragequitter' not in rage, but exasperation, i genuinely cant be bothered to salvage some of the messes D:

Happens every day, around 4PM eastern standard time.

I was shocked at the difference getting to run STF's in the morning. Smooth like butter.

I haven't done a PUG in a looong while. But, from what I hear it comes and goes from, "Did IQs suddenly drop while I was away" to " I knew it. I'm surrounded by ***holes!"

It's probably from new players coming in with the beginning of season 7 and finally getting to the point they can do ESTFs.

Teach the ones you can, the rest you have to let go.

PuGs were always horrible. I stopped pugging without at least one other person with me for precisely that reason. You can two man ANY elite space STF, so if I got a fleet-mate with me, we go in and get a great laugh at the derp we see. As for grounds? I avoid those like the plague on PUGs, I only run them with ESTF and PESTF channel people.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

As far as Space STFs and ESTFs go, I felt groups became much better after the launch of S7. I figured it might have been because people had to start playing STFs more regularly with the rep system in place. Especially in ISE and Cure normal seem to just run automated.

Out of ~300 STFs since then, maybe a dozen didn't get the optional (including a few during the anniversary lagfest) and only 2-3 were what I'd consider "really bad".

I logged in today (first time in a week) and figured I'd do a couple quick ESTF's. That was a big mistake.

Infected Space Elite took about half an hour.

Cure Space Elite failed after about 20 minutes. 3 people thought it was their job to guard Kang. And still, it blew up.

Haven't done STFE in the last week, didn't realize i was the only one keeping the level up. :p
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

In my opinion, you would appear to be somewhat correct in your OP, just me personally I have noticed a shift for the worse.......I use ISE as the gauge, and I have noticed more problems the last few months........I posted my humble opinion somewhere in the last 20 pages of the "Post your worst STF Experience" thread......[Brief Synopsis]: I've always considered CSE & KASE both space and ground pre & post S7 a wash if I choose to PUG.....but ISE has been my stronghold and even that has gone downhill........could go on, but whatever maybe I'm weird..........and as I said, in my opinion, the bad habits from Zone/PUG have spilled over into the PublicEliteSTF. I can't tell you the number of times lately I answered a call from that channel only to find myself playing just as hard, if not harder sometimes, than if I had just PUG'd instead......

I have noticed a group of players all from one particular wing that will go right on Infected space and blow a Gen and then go AFK as the optional is failed. Then once the other 4 players finally get the 2 transformers down this player will suddenly come back and agro the Tac cube and drag it to the other players while thy are trying to take out the remaining spheres and gate then go AFK again. I have seen this same group spawn all 4 cubes in Kithomer space then leave or go AFK. Funny how this is the same group that likes to hang out at Dronza station and grief the RP players. Some have made it their full time job to do everything they can to grief or ruin other players gaming.

Over the last week and a half it seem that theres a huge group of players joining the STF's on elite that cannot communicate, read or pay any attention to what is hapopening past the nose of their own ships.

Yesterday me and my friend played an entire afternoon doing 2 STF's to complete non of them cause we only had noobs in with us..

    Frustrating and annoying.

what do you mean suddenly? quality can't drop below rock-bottom, which is where it's been since the launch of S7

also, if you read through a bit of this thread, you'll realize that utter stupidity in what should otherwise be a simple STF run is actually, and sadly, very common

Luck. Good if you get nice folk. Not so good for the other times. What we have today is still nothing compared to the F2P launch though.

Is that two-man any space STF, or two-man any space STF with the opt?

If you don't get the Opt, you haven't really beaten it. 2 man is 'easy'. Unless the other 3 are doing something besides frapping it for YouTube.

good thing i didn't get caught in that stampede, then. i think my first STF was about halfway through february last year, about 2-21/2 weeks after i started playing, which i actually got dragged into by a friend, and it wasn't a bad run for not getting the optional; at least i knew what i was doing, because i'd read up on all the STFs beforehand...something i wish other people would emulate

Two man panic attack. No opt since it usually takes too long.

If you have 3 imbeciles who don't know what to do, I would say 2 manning it is not easy persay as it can be done. Try to two man a Khitomer in less than 15 minutes without souped up tacscorts.. It ain't fun.

you can repeat the cash-in every 15 seconds, so the only problem is the tedium of going through that many marks 50 at a time

I'd take the stories in that thread with a grain of salt. Lots of people posting in there actually seem to be the problem ("I went for the Tac Cube in ISE while the other 4 idiots went for teh gate and made me die") or post stories which just prove that they don't have a firm grasp on game mechanics ("LOL. I was in my Mk.XII bug ship and that nOOb cruiser couldn't hold arrgO against me!!11!").

In addition to that there seem to be a lot of made up stories. People posting horrible or funny stories every day, people suddenly discussing and posting their horrible builds and posting bad quality items - sometimes even worse than the default ones that come with the ship - in chat after a failed STF to prove the posters point etc... Simply untrue or exagerrated tales (while sometimes funny) just there to post a story.

I agree. the quality of players are worse. the knowledge of theirs is better imo, they fail less the opt objectives, and know what they are doing, but their builds are just pure bad. I have not seen a single ship above 6k dps in a month (though yesterday I got 2 ships above 9k next to mine, so it was a surprise, and it is a one in a million match to have 3 ships over 9k dps in a pug)
Is that two-man any space STF, or two-man any space STF with the opt?

its easy to two-man for the opt an estf. the only one that could give you a problem is HSE

most are usually okay, I avoid doing them on sunday's because most people who do the pug on sundays are just one day players who have no idea what to do. Friday's seem to be the best day to do a stf elite, better choice of players.

what was this guy's character named? that sounds an awful lot like something someone i know personally has said several times

also, ICE is not a valid acronym, so nobody reading your post is going to know which infected you're talking about

ICE: Infected: the Conduit (Elite) I've seen it used on PublicEliteSTF so I thought it was the same.

okay, not the guy i know then

and most people still use the old acronym format of mission, region and difficulty, though i expect that will probably change as more new players come to the game and older players leave
