I wish we could get some more texture options.
"Matte" and "Glossy" look too much like plastic or leather.
I think something like cloth (like TNG movie surface) would be an welcome addition.
I don'tthink that's possible but i would also want to have a bigger color palette, most of the time when you choose the same color on different parts of a uniform they look very different.
An expanded color palette would fill those gaps and give us much more possibilities to create uniforms that look less like plastic/Leather fetish/Biker stuff, lol.
This is really bothering me when trying to make some parts of a uniform in Black. Every cryptic made uniform seems to have a slightly different color palette, especially different shades of grey and Black.
What i also would like to see would be a remade or at least updated TNG (Series) uniform, the one we got looks just washed off and looks like worn 10 years without changed, lol.

As a colourblind guy, I'd like it if the colour pallette actually told us what colour they are. A1, B5 etc is fine if you are following a guide, but for custom outfits, I have no idea what some of them are wearing colourwise.

It seems to be more of Cryptic's "let's ignore what needs fixing and just rework another system in the game? How about adding more to PvP Exploring? Crafting? The Foundry? "Nope, but you will be happy to know we are updating the UI." O_o How much will the UI skin pack cost in the Z Store?

Sad? Why? Because you agree that Cryptic is only working on things that they can monetize quickly while they ignore putting any work into things that will improve the longevity of the game? Sad because, while I was once a fanboy of Cryptic and this game, I have become disillusioned and bitter by Cryptic?s continuous over promising and underperforming? Or are you sad because as a product of the US education system, I repeatedly make spelling mistake and have pitiable grammar in my posts?
BTW, if you are still sad, they do make a pill for that.

I don't care what they are doing but I do want the ability to put my boffs/my avatar in whatever clothing I want, uniform or not - if I ground/paid/was given an item of clothing, I don't need someone telling me 'Oh, you can't wear a mercenary bandolier on your uniform' - the dammned item is mine to do with as I please and curtailing its uses only leaves me more loathe to try and get other items
(fyi, they recently stealth nerfed the voldemort that let you put, say, maco top and a robe bottom on a boff annoyingly)

This is the thing I wish they would do the most. Why can't we dress our boffs in various parts of uniforms/merc sets etc?

I think at some point a dev said that if they remake the Character creator it will mostly change how the body relations are made, similar to how the (new) KDF Gorn are made.

I only hope they'll allow players to re-species and re-trait by having everyone re-create their characters with the new system.
some of us still have pre-f2p characters with really messed up traits (no longer work/changed function in f2p).
According to DStahl, re-traits are coming, re-species not in the works.

Hmm. I would like that. We could finally have some decent looking fat characters.
i would like to see more customisation of characters. for instance if we can retrait character redo them with more options. i would like to make my character look like howard the duck.
I'd love to see a character creation system and tailor similar to EVE or APB's character creators - specifically the face/body/hair scaling interfaces - while retaining (or if possible, expanding upon) STO's existing feature set.
As-is, STO's character customization is top-notch. Only Saints Row really comes close, that being a single-player game. There isn't much comparable in the MMO space that I've seen personally. All STO really needs in this area is polish, UI and functionality improvements on what we already have. EVE or APB's refinements on STO's content would be glorious. Anything else is just gravy.
Gravy is delicious though, so pour it on.
I will say that if we could have only one new feature, it would be new hair tech. Of the two customization engines I mentioned, APB would be the one I'd suggest. Hair tech used to show up in the old Engineering Reports a lot throughout Stahl's first tour of duty. I wonder what happened to that? Chances are it went to Neverwinter, so could come back to STO soon(ish.)
But can't we afford some optimism? Or is that too expensive these days?
*sigh* I know what you mean.
It feels like the modern internet runs on cynicism, descending into outright nerdrage and #firstworldproblems at the smallest perceived slight. Daring to be positive about anything offends the groupthink. People can't just like things any more or look forward to stuff without an army of keyboard warriors emerging from the ether to tell you just how wrong you are.
Even just calling for patience during a stormy period is a great way to get yourself labeled as a "cheerleader" or accused of receiving kickbacks, not to mention damaging one's faith in humanity. All MMO forums are like this, of course. It never ends.
Sometimes I wonder how some people even manage to drag themselves out of bed in the morning. "Breakfast, ugh, the eggs are just going to burn again, typical eggs."

In my opinion, MMO developers tent to promise huge, awesome, etc. things which emerges just as another disappointment.
In STO, there are so many different expectations by so many different people, some Star Trek fans (who subdivide agin into several groups), MMO players, single players, social people, casual players you name it.
More than any other MMO STO, does have the potential dissapoint its customers even more. And, it's sad to say, Cryptics devs have done very little about that. F2P made the game into a shameless money machine, it doesn't even try to conceal it very well IMO.
This is just one of many things that alienate people, another thing is the MMO(ised) Star Trek universe, ships work different, captains have classes(?), the strange optical differences between "Real" star trek and STO. All this doesn't help in making STO a roundly acepted game, eveyone sees a faul on it. The sad thing is the Devs could very easily remove 50% of is within one single patch, but they don't even see the problem most of the time.
Instead the try to patchwork-fix this game step by step and it seems that they don really have a clue where it leads them. In my opinion thie is really sad, Star Trek is a huge universe, rich of things to explore, but Cryptics devs seem just to go from one questionable decision to another.
My point is, as i said STO as a Star Trek MMO has way too much potential to serve as dissappointment.
As you said todays interent is full of people criticising things they mostly have no idea about and sometimes just because they can just get away with it.
I think we have to differ here between constuctive anmd destructive criticism.
Most of the time constructive criticism is a very good thing, because it reveals a systems flaws. I try to do that myself very often i know sometimes it seems like i would just rant about Cryptic, but that's not the case.
However destructive criticsm is ... well destructive, no one really profits from it. Most of the time not even the person who wrote it.
I think Game developers should very much differ between those two kinds of criticism, especially when it comes to a Star Trek game like STO, which gives a player this much freedom in creating and customizing.
Sorry, i just realized i have gnet completely off topic.

If you think this forum is bad, try the one for the Avengers online facebook game.... O-O'
The character creator revamp should include kits, allowing officer to be transfered ,swaped (special officers) and trained between Captains on the same account, as well as letting us change uniforms on special officers.
It should also allow all saved character visuals among all races and factions, so we constantly do not need to remake the character traits over and over again. The save and load function should allow cross faction uniforms for role playing

Um... that goes well beyond the character creator...
Hopefully, it just works out that we can mix-and-match different (class restricted) kit pieces together, or use lower-level kit visuals without having to mechanically gimp one's self. I liked my Mk VIII Operative kit's look. The Mk X's? Not so much.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

Rightly so. :P
While I'm not so sure about naming them after the characters, I think we should have more options reminiscent of things from the Tv shows.
