Just out of curiosity, before you left, or now during season 7, how many of you actually fly fleet ships. The 2000Zen per character is a total bummer. but outside of KDf cruiser i hardly see any fleet ships in pvp, mostly lockbox.
I m just not interested in any of the fleet ships (bare the Noobula, which is just the noobula) but cannot justify throwing money in cryptics direction for it. so all my pvp toons fly either S5 ships, or lockbox ships (thx again for the presents).
What about you, anybody flying a fleet ship, which one and why?
Although I own Galor and could fly that, I mainly fly fleet nebula (because it is noobula) and I own most fleet retrofits, nova/saber/cheyene. Just because I like TNG era and I like to change ships frequently. I will also purchase (1 module) for akira/prometheus and dread, when available for me.
I guess I fly them only because of Style points, and because Star Trek = Starfleet for me.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
My tac is in a Florcha because it's the best KDF escort. I was thinking about a Fleet K'tinga because I want a good A2Bx2 build, but now I'm in love with my McSteamy fed side. Seriously, this thing is a $10 fed fleet ship account-wide.
_______________ CommanderDonatra@Capt.Sisko: ahhh is it supposed to do that? Norvo Tigan@dontdrunkimshoot: hell ya, maybe
I flew the FDSSV fairly exclusively for a while (before I gots a wells). The 5th sci console slot really makes a difference. However, the 15 base turn rate of the wells makes it a far more attractive option.
I've been on the fence about buying one for a couple months, 2k zen for a toon unlock is COMPLETELY unreasonable. I'm just banking my zen and flying the stock Qin on both my KDF toons.
I was tempted to play lockbox lottery for a bugship, but the droprate stats of the Wells cured me of that sickness.

Mirror Qin is a fantastic option that costs less than 1 mil EC and comes with the lovely layout of the old Fleet Escort (Patrol Escort), or the bug for that matter. It's pretty much my go-to 'scort if I'm not in much of a birdie mood.
I fly the Fleet Somraw and Fleet Scourge in PvP and both are nice ships. Both are solid improvements over the Qin in most areas, a few key ones being:
- Better Turn (Somraw: 16, Scourge: 17) without the broken pivot
- Better Boff layout (Somraw: Ens Eng, Scourge: Ens Sci)
- Better shields (yes even the Somraw, infact both ships have better than advertised shields, see the thread about shields on fleet versions of ships that were not originally T5 for more detalis)
- Extra Console
In short both finally provide good escort choices KDF side, though you could definitely argue that a large part of their upgrade value stems from how gimped the Qin is.
Also been trying out the Fleet Hoh'Sus and so far liking it, though I'm still figuring out exactly how I want to set it up. Its a BoP though, and what klink doesn't want to fly a BoP? :P

Besides Fleet Torkahts, we are starting to see more Fleet Hoh'Sus BOPs.
Fed side we always see lots of Fleet Defiants due to so many tacs already owning the z-store Defiant therefore only having to use 1 module to get it, and it being one of the best escorts.
We don't see to many other fleet ships as much, the occasional Fleet Nebula or Fleet Recon Sci, and even more rarely, the Fleet Star Cruiser and Fleet Galaxy, although this might be good since those last 2 ships are a pain to take down.
I have the Fleet Fleet Escort (whatever it is called) on the Fed side, and love my Fleet Vor'cha on the KDF side.

lets see i have a fleet vorcha that is parked sadly because the vet ship does everything better, a fleet ktinga that is extreamly awesome with 2 AtB that i go back and forth on with the negvar and vet ship, a somraw retrofit that i haven't used since the vet ships, a fleet heavy cruiser that i use every once and a wile, and now the steamy which i just love for some reason. my 2 AtB vet ship would be better in every way but i just get a kick out of the thing.
I dont have any fleet ships only a few lock box ones mostly because I can buy them off the exchange and one lobi ship because it is fun to troll people with the time ship and watch them not be able to get away AKA talon jones.!
I used to fly a Tactical Escort Retofit in PvP until this past Monday, when my fleet finally completed Tier 3. I upgraded to the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit.
On my Klingon, I fly the B'rel Retrofit and have no intentions of changing to any other ship, Fleet or otherwise.
Mirror Qin is a fantastic option that costs less than 1 mil EC and comes with the lovely layout of the old Fleet Escort (Patrol Escort), or the bug for that matter. It's pretty much my go-to 'scort if I'm not in much of a birdie mood.
Funny you should mention that, was just looking at an alternative to the useless ens/tac slot which would be a nice spot for PH or RSH (prefer PH because I absolutely hate the PvP tractor spam).

I fly the Negh'Var as an engineer/healer and have been incredible happy with the results. It is a solid heal-boat with a great turn rate (9) and a wonderful hull (42500).
I was hoping to work towards a fleet HEC (which is at the insane level of T5), but with the recent lockboxes, vesta, steamrunner and the continual escalation, I've come to realise the FHEC just isn't fit for purpose. There might be a point if I was low enough to use danubes, but as it is the FHEC is pretty rubbish.
I'll stick with my mobius thanks. That is until the overpowered escort bundle is released, with insta-pop DHCs.
I flew the Fleet Torkaht. I found it to be a fun ship to fly, and I don't generally like cruisers. But, after the Vet ship came out I doubt I'd by any KDF Fleet ships.
1. Head to Head the Vet ship is better than most options for my playstyle (by a lot).
2. The raiders are trash. The modest improvements on them aren't worth the $$$. Though if they'd up the 16k hull's cloak to ebc, I'd consider it. Brel still the best raider imo.
3. While there's some ok KDF Fleet escorts, the best of the Fed's Fleet escorts are better.
4. The KDF Sci ships are really trash.
5. Generally not a Carrier fan, but don't see anything improved over the Karfi to the point I'd by it.
6. Which brings us back to the Fleet Torkaht. It's a quality DPS cruiser layout w/BC.

I know I made a video. What a surprise. And if anyone actually watches, and is curious as to if I've figured out what to do with the BOP, the answer is no. And I likely never will.
I use the fleet K'tinga and it does nothing but beast 24x7. I also have the fleet saber and I feel it underperforms, but my skill set and equipment do not exactly meet what a saber should be trying to do, so maybe that is the real problem.

This is exactly what i fly with fleet sheilds and weapons. of course onec a bug is behind u u are dead, cause you cant turn to attack, but hey, the bug is an iwin button, able to tank a team of players at once and outfly anything in game, lol what a joke.
mirror raptor is nice though, cant spend 20 bucks on a fleet ship thats upgrades are so minute. and i dont gamble like a spoiled child.
C-store ship > buy/farm contraband AND/OR farm dil > turn into refined dil > turn into zen (if you used only contraband it would cost appox 531 contraband at ave 45k EC each [est: 85 zen per 1 dil] for a total of 23.9 million ECs to buy a 2500 zen C-store ship using contraband alone - steep, but doable)
Lockbox ship > available on the exchange
When I did the math, I realized it would cost me something like 25 million ECs to purchase the Intrepid + FSM to have the fleet Intrepid - I bought the Wells class when it hit rock bottom for 35 million instead. The Vesta 3 pack would be in the 50 to 60 million EC range (just eyeballing it).
At the OP:
The only Fleet Ship I own is the Fleet Vor'cha, I was hopeful for the Fleet Defiant but they decided to be hilarious and give the uni ensign to the Fleet Patrol Escort instead of the iconic Defiant from canon.
I might get the Fleet HEC, but it's quite a bit away.
Fleet Patrol Escort works best for me... I find the positives outweigh the negatives (negatives being turn rate / tac consoles) when compared to higher tier fleet ships... only ship that is superior, imo, is the jem-scort... depending on player skill/build of course.

Fleet Patrol Escort is a nice ship, but unless you want to run the Ensign as Sci, I like the Fleet Saber better.

I love the Fleet Saber. The shields are comparable to the .9 rating Escorts, in my experience. Same BOFF layout as the FPE and the most common Bug setups. Have had solid results with it in PUG matches.
Comments
I guess I fly them only because of Style points, and because Star Trek = Starfleet for me.
It has all the charatceristics that the original Qin raptor should have had in the begining.
R.I.P

I can't really recommend any of the Fleet boats unless you're a hardcore fan of a given ship, the improvements are just too minor.

As botheyak said you can get FSMs on the exchange, I got my Fleet Vorcha for 16 million by being patient.

How's the shielding on the Fleet Saber?
The Fleet Sabre gives decent survivability, with handling characteristics very close to that of the JHAS, which I could never afford.
The Fleet Somraw is hands down the closest I can get to escort-style gameplay on the KDF, and still keep a cloak for an initial alpha.
