It's easier than that honestly. Put refined Dil on exchange then cancel it, it puts it in a pool on the exchange and you just retrieve it on another character.

When you DELETE a ship to make room, be very very careful not to delete one that you cannot get back for free...I have done this, and I MAINTAIN that they owe me 4000 zen for their oversight because I lost two ships this way over the years. Needless to mention I have spent thousands on the game...
Yeah be careful when you're typing the name of your ship out to confirm you want it deleted.

the only thing gold players have going for them as far as dilithium grinding goes, is the 800-day perk of a duty officer mission that grants you an extra 1k refined

by taking your refined dil and converting to zen, you can then switch toons and reconvert back to refined dil using the zen u just purchased
