It is true, and you will have to do a series of missions to get her. Its from the latest update from Stahl. You have to read it. Also there will be a new Klingon ship as well. So I will do both missions for the ships. Since I have a KDF I love playing as well. They will release the stats very soon in an update. Read the article!
My real question is... are we going to get a Nerfed "Free Ambassador-Class," while they shove the real Ambassador Class into the C-Store (like they did with the Odyssey).

I would think not.
But depends if Cryptic thinks they can make a buck off a Z-store version.
If things go well, it will be a T3 ship, you can use on your alt, maybe with RA retrofit. If things go bad, it will be another cruiser that is better than Galaxy-R :P
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
I didn't grow up with the Enterprise-C, I have no nostalgia for this obsolete design. Unless they take a radical departure from existing Federation cruiser designs, there is no way that this can possibly compete with a KDF battlecruiser or flight deck cruiser from a performance standpoint.

That's ok, no one else did either. It was in, what?, one episode of TNG? It is a pretty slick design though, IMO.
Have no interest in this ship as it will probably br more a tactical or eng ship and mu character is primarilly science however if the KDF have the alt ship then possibly will use that

It will be interesting to see what its layout will in fact become. I have never liked the Enterprise-C's design, so I am hoping, if it's VA level, the officer layout isn't to my liking. But I also won't be surprised if a "better" version pops up in the store.
Klingson side it's like the love-child / missing link between a Vor'cha and D7, so that's kind of neat.
But depends if Cryptic thinks they can make a buck off a Z-store version.
It's still the C-Store. </pedant>
I'm not fussed either way. If it's a T3 ship then fair enough - I'll maybe bring it out when I want to play VA content at a higher difficulty. If it's T5 then I'll have a think about whether any of my characters would be more effective with it.
Even if I don't use it, it'll still be something I didn't pay for so no loss there, right?
I just hope we get it added to the list of ships usable in Fed mob groups for KDF players. Same with the Klingon ship.
I don't care about another cruiser. Free or not. There is already plenty of them and I play none. However, I'll play the mission, and I hope I'll enjoy it, you know, for the mission by itself and not the reward.
That would be the exact opposite of the winterland, where I found the event to be a endless and annoying grind, but wanted the rewards.
Ambassador...schmambassador. All the cool kids will be flying the Kamarag, singing as they fly through sector space:
I know you like mine (I know you like mine)
I know you do (I know you do)
That's why whenever I come around you run away
And I know you want it (I know you want it)
It's easy to see (it's easy to see)
And in the back of your mind
I know you want the Kamarag
Don't cha wish your starship was hot like mine
Don't cha wish your starship was a freak like mine
Don't cha, don't cha
Don't cha wish your starship was raw like mine
Don't cha wish your starship was fun like mine
Don't cha, don't cha
Give into the feeling (give into the feeling)
Cause you're not alone (cause you're not alone)
And you know it's love
More than enough to leave the Federation
So join us friend (so join us friend)
You don't have to play fair (you don't have to play fair)
Still, we don't care
Cause you can't get a Kamarag over there
Don't cha wish your starship was hot like mine
Don't cha wish your starship was a freak like mine
Don't cha, don't cha
Don't cha wish your starship was raw like mine
Don't cha wish your starship was fun like mine
Don't cha, don't cha
I know it's on your mind
I know you'd have a good time
I'm your friend
It's fun
And it's fine
I ain't lying
Look at it, you ain't blind
I know it's on your mind

I'd probably be just as crazy about it
If I were in Starfleet

Don't forget, there have been talks about Tier 3 and Tier 5 variants. We'll probably get some kind of Tier 5 variant for free, while Tier 3 (with a special console) is going to hit the C-Store for 1000 Zen (similar to Nebula and Excelsior), with a Fleet Refit following soon after.
Also, don't get your hopes up. The free ship is surely going to be a generic cruiser with 9 console slots and uninteresting stats. I also bet it's going to be science focused (with Galaxy being eng-focused and Excelsior/Sovereign being tac-focused, there's a gap to be filled).
That's ok, no one else did either. It was in, what?, one episode of TNG? It is a pretty slick design though, IMO.
Four episodes of TNG (two of which were only debris), and one of DS9. Interestingly, of the ones seen on screen, nearly all were doomed.
Enterprise-C was damaged and going into battle where it would be destroyed.
The one in Conspiracy was already destroyed.
The one in Best of Both Worlds and Emissary was destroyed at Wolf 359.
Only the one in Data's Day escaped unscathed, giving the ship an overall worse survival record than the Oberth.
My one hope for it is that they do something different. The veteran destroyers stretched the distinctions between ship classes, and the Breen and Jem'hadar ships broke them entirely. That opens up a lot of new niches that would have been assumed impossible before, and with traditional cruiser ranks are pretty cluttered, the Ambassador's best place to find use is to take one.
#1: @virusdancer. - you should not have stopped taking your meds without checking with your doc first.
#2: S5:E1 "Redemption Part II". The U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-26517 was also an Ambassador Class. Temporarily commanded by Riker during the blokade of the Duras sisters.

That was also Mackenzie Calhoun's ship, as I recall.

Yup, an Ambassador class is the star of her own novel series.
*looks at the Vesta* and people say the Ambassador class doesn't appear in stuff often enough
I would also like to make the point that many Ambassador Class ships were never confirmed as destroyed, (or seen on-screen as destroyed), as they are it simply "text" on some websites as *destroyed*, (often with no explanation)...which leaves the door open to "conjecture".

On the contrary, the Enterprise flies through the debris field of the Horatio (which they show). Kind of hard to go from ship to cloud of wrecked parts without being destroyed, no?

Very true. Although, I meant the U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-26517 specifically.

Easy to see how you couldn't have found it.

looking forward to getting the Ambassador as well.

It (at least the VA version) will be a fed light battlecruiser.
4x weapons fore & aft
4 device
35k hull
Shild: x1.0
9 or 10 Turn
3 or 4 eng
3 or 2 sci
4 tac
Special Console: Jump a few decades forward in time for repair and upgrades :P

This will require the sacrifice of one of your other ship's bridge officers.
equal parts cynical and helpful
I am hoping that it will be. As a primary Sci user, Eng and Tact layouts are of no use to me and the Ambassador is my favorite Canon design.
