So, the Anniversary ship is going to be the Ambassador Class and it's free for doing a mission. What do you guys think it will be? Will it be a RA, VA or Fleet level ship? Will it be will it be more tactical slant like the Excelsior or engineer slant like the Galaxy?

Let the speculations begin.
It's definitely not Fleet-level. Hard to say if it's RALH or VA.
The "tactical slant" you mentioned applies to the Regent, not the Excelsior. The Excelsior has good turn rate and tanking abilities, whereas teh Regent has a more Tactical slant due to the consoles and boff seating.
I don't really care whether the Ambassador has a slant either way. As long as I get the Andrew Probert variant, I'm happy.

I'm going to guess/hope (delete as appropriate) that both designs will be available and their parts selectable in the ship customisation screen, so you can create a hybrid.

Well, it SHOULD be an obsolete, relic, representative of a crossover design from the Excelsior class, to the Galaxy class. Useless in every regard save as a museum piece at StarFleet Academy, where cadets could marvel at it's simplicity, and think "Wow, people used to explore, strange, new, worlds, in this thing?" Especially, now that we have timeships from the future in the game.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
The true slap was making the Fleet Failcelsior stronger than the Tactical Odyssey and Regent in damage output. However I will laugh my rear off if this ship is better than the FExcel at damage output. Then I will probably quit STO and go back to playing League of Legends.
But I am also seeing a lot of interesting posts that suggest this ship might be a science heavy cruiser. Which I would be intrigued by, even if not interested in ever using it. But if it turns out to be a hybrid destroyer/ escort-cruiser, then I will just laugh and go back to playing League.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
If they make it junk like the T-1 Connie no one will play it.
If they make it out-uber new ships, I personally will not play with it outside of specific RP stories with friends.
They really are stuck in a difficult place with this ship. Everyone wants it in game, but by this point in history it's sufficiently "old" that it shouldn't be on the front-lines. There is also a very odd point to consider: Even in TNG-DS9 where we saw vastly older ships in front-line service we rarely if ever saw Ambassadors. I know they had problems with the original physical model, but it's odd even when CGI exploded into the market the Ambassador never made a comeback.
One is left to speculate then... why all these century ++ Excelsior class ships but a more contemporary ship is not seen?
I RP that the design was recalled and scrapped due to serious design flaws that couldn't be overcome, and the persistent rumor that the Romulans had captured one.
It'll be interesting to see how Cryptic pulls this off storywise. It'll also be VERY interesting to see where the ship lands on the Sci-Eng-Tac spectrum.

Storywise? Bah, they'll utilise handwavium.
As for Boff-layout, it'd be nice if it had a Cmdr. Universal, meaning it's versatile.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
it will proboly be a stat clone to the excelcior, only it will have a LTC sci, LT tac
Isn't that what people are begging for for the Ambassador? I would almost consider that a cruiser based carrier would be more partial to a cruiser layout, much the the Gal-R.
I don't remember where I read it, but it was like 10 years ago I read something saying the Ambasador class ships served as the front line in the cardassian war, as a result many were lost. At that point the Excelsior class ships were more support ships, that didn't suffer the same losses.
In general I expect the ship to be a cross between teh Galaxy and the Excelsior. It should be a beefy hull with 8 weapon placements. 4 eng consoles, 2 sci consoles, 3 tac consoles 4 device slots. I'm expecting something similar to the free odysey, nothing game changing, nothing unusable. I expect an upgraded fleet version that will have similar stats to the fleet excelsior with a universal lt. commander slot.
A cool add on to the ship would be a doff that is a hologram Rachel Garret that could offer a boost to your stats when fighting Romulans.
I'm pretty sure they're going to make it a generic version, kind of like the original Odyssey Class. Once it's been out for a while, they'll probably do a refit version with the Probert variant and maybe a new one too on the C-store.
Janeway chewing the fat with Divinchi was cool, but a tactical advisor doff that aids you in beating down an enemy isn't? Holodeck characters out of historical people is long standing, and they were often either consulted for help by Jordi...and promptly fallen in love with, or helped by advising characters. This could be a new set of doffs. Rachel Garrett could be vs. Romulans, Ben Sisco Vs. the Dominion (and Q), Piccard improves your chances in diplomatic missions, Kirk vs Klingons. If the licences allow it I think it would be a cool addition that wouldn't take much, it is basically already in game with the tholian doffs.

That is what I am expecting as well. Like with the Odyssey, the free version would be slightly stronger than the generic Dilithium-purchased T5 ships, but inferior to the C-store or Fleet ships, while the C-store version would have the extras (console ability with 10th console slot, slightly better stats, etc.).
Looks like we get Tier 3 and Tier 5 versions of both the Ambassador and Kamarag class, and they come in boxes. Which are no doubt "bound" items.
The name of the ship sound extremely interesting - "Support Cruiser Retrofit Starship". I get the impression that we're going to be looking at (on the T5 variant) 8 weapon slots and some science or universal slots.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Someone said earlier in the thread that they thought that this may be a ship with a science slant to fit between the Excelsior(Tactical) and Galaxy(Engineer). Based on the name, Support Cruiser, looks like they were right. Can't wait to see that stats on this. Could be new cruiser for my Sci Officer.
Support Cruiser can go both ways. Being a support ship to a fleet. It can be a tactical based or Science based. As either one is a support ship. It would be interesting to see it more on the science side. We will see soon.
All I know is, I will have it!

We can expect:
- Sector space to be absolutely full of them for a couple weeks.
- Outrage that the T5 version is/isn't 'teh ultimate pow3rful ship' -- depending on who's posting and the build/weaponloadout they use; and forum posts of "Thanks the Free But Useless Ship, Cryptic!"/"The Ambassodor is OP!"
Other than that, I don't know

What's the Andrew Probert variant? I'm assuming you are referring to the design of the ship. Are there pics?

My god, that's a sexy beast.
So it'll be on the C-Store, jah?

Thanks. Now that is a fine looking ship.
Boff layout:
Commander Universal
Lt. Commander Engineer
Lt. Tactical
Lt. Science
Ensign Universal
Console layout:
4 Engineer
3 Tactical
3 Science
That would be a very nice setup.

What an absolutely brilliant and novel idea!
Rachel Garrett was a cool captain; I'd hate to see the heroic sacrifice of her and her crew trivialized like that.

Take a Nebula.
Add some ice.
Drop it in a blender.
Pour it in a glass too small.
Add a little umbrella.
The Ambassador Support Cruiser.
Commander: Science
Lt Commander: Science
Lt: Engineer
Ensign: Engineer
Lt: Tactical
4x Science Consoles
3x Engineer Consoles
2x Tactical Consoles
Weapon Slots: 4x4
Crew: 800
Base Hull: 38000
Shield Mod: 1.15
Turn Rate: 8
Should be a worthy ship. A special console would be nice but unlikely.
Looks like a cross between a Galaxy and a Ambassador, consider their lack of love for the Galaxy I doubt they are in a hurry to make another ship look like it.
