Zen purchases blocked

devestatorpwdevestatorpw Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I received an email today from Moneybookers stating that for security reasons my account was blocked until I send them a scanned copy of my drivers license or passport, and a copy of a current bill or bank statement with my address.
Of course I think only a moron would do that, so I called Moneybookers directly and asked what this was about. The woman I spoke with said that it was a "random security measure" that they use, and that a number of customers are selected at random for this type of "identity verification". I told her that was a crazy idea, and she said it was a way for them to build trust, and I needed to send the information within 21 days.
I'm a lifetime customer for STO and have been since beta. I've made zen purchases in the past and contribute financially to a game that I enjoy playing and want to support. I intended to buy zen and keys for the new lockbox coming out. I've never had a billing or payment issue. To have my account blocked is unacceptable to me and imo should be to cryptic/perfect world.
I won't be sending my personal information to Moneybookers, and unless I can get some help from cryptic my account will remain blocked and my purchasing days are over.

Your holding Cryptic/PW responsible for the business practices of a company that they have no control over and which you independently decide to use, from of a large selection of working alternatives?

    Okay.

You may be asked to verify your identity for security reasons when using certain payment gateways. If you don't wish to do this, please consider using an alternate payment gateway such as Paypal (which allows you to pay as a guest) or GoogleCheckout.

    Cheers,

    Okay.

I'm not all all holding Cryptic/PW responsible. I was just asking for assistance with a problem that's effecting me, Cryptic, and probably others that didn't post.

    I feel your pain.
PWE won't deal directly with it's customers and forces you to go through 3rd party. They don't make doing busines with them easy. I totally don't understand this either since my monthly account charge seems to go right through the bank, no problems for PWE there. My guess is that this is the part that is still US and other part, well whatever. My LTS account is free now, so it doesn't require it.

I have purchased a few game cards through GameStop and then started using Google Wallet. Just remember the answer for e-mail verification is yes or PWE won't accept the Google payment.
    Good luck with it.

I have an option to pay for Zen with a credit card directly. Is this non-US only?

I have purchased Zen from the US, using a US Credit card... However, my financial institute tacks on a 'foreign transaction' service charge to the purchase, (Moneybookers is based in London...) which is another reason why I've switched to PWE Game Cards purchased locally...

how about a defferent point of view, many will argue with this but, Lets say you take your car to be worked on. Then you go pay for the work, and a third party cashier says, you cant have your car. You have x days to give me your personal info. With id theft so common now....I would be very concerned as well....much more so that it is a random security check....they should have all they need since you have been a full member since beta...just saying
