If any Devs do read this.
New Romulus is beginning to get abit stale. I have completed all on there, and it starts to get repetitive.
How much longer to wait until theres something new please?????
Ah the curse of every MMO ever. Players want content. Game puts out content. Players burn through content quickly. Players want more content.
Content only lasts so long. Its not a case of burning through it quickly.
I find that you can only get so far with it regardless of your speed.
But regards content,so new stuff would be nice.
The system Cryptic has used at least since I've seen S7 launched is a 'equal available for all' stance on gear. Can you get sets from random world or instance bosses? AT random? Meaning it doesn't matter how many times you do it there is NO guarantee you will receive it? No, they implement 'reputation systems' which gives it to everyone after criteria are met which works for SOME things in an MMO but not all your end game gear...even with 'timers' on all your 'projects', there is a predictable and obvious end to the quest to get it, with no random chance involved at all. This does not work.
This is why IMO the STF system in itself was good, though tweaking was needed with the way it was laid out. As much as many people complain that it was 'impossible' to obtain all the pieces for a full set because of the RNG, it still required players to engage in the missions and instances and at least you knew every few times you did it you would be able to exchange your EDC(? I cant even remember now) for a piece of Borg Technology whether you got your 'drop' in the STF or not. So yes, people get mad they don't get that piece for their set but at least they weren't bored and finished with the content in a matter of weeks.
I'm not sure why Cryptic hasn't gone to the PvP area, it's MUCH easier to create/add PvP content than PvE content, that's a given. They could have improved the PvP area a lot, then given players reason to delve into that area again for awhile until they could get some more PvE content created. Rinse, repeat if necessary....it's kind of the life cycle the game needs to go through. STO just seems to be stuck in one direction without new 'Season's' bringing the necessary environmental changes.

Because we do not have 2 factions.
We have 1.5 factions.
This isn't the result of the KDFs shorter questline but because of a lack of clothing options and balance in ship options, apart from the general feel (altho there's a fair amount of people who tend towards KDF they do not get as many features).
It's plaubile that alongside with a KDF revamp (or afterwards) we would see a wave of KDF c-store ships released, both to balance the factions and reap big moneys... there could be quite a focus on the Klingons for a while.
Fed, KDF & PvP reputation would probably be introduced before or after this, too.
And , uh, then I think they could put some effort into creating more PvP opportunities.
I feel like Nostradamus now... what I really tried to say is: it will probably be a while until we see some proper PvP content.
Ah the curse of every MMO ever. Players want content. Game puts out content. Players burn through content quickly. Players want more content.
By content, if you mean new romulus and his fetch this and tag that quest, it's pretty quick to add.
It's also boring.
I found New Romulus stale the first time I played, and carefully avoid the planet except for the story missions down there. Did I burn through the content ? I'd say I burned through the lack of content.
I stopped doing Romulas long ago when I started grinding Epohhs.
Yep. Between 100-200 marks a day for winter epohhs, and 400/week or better from the normal epohhs..... sitting on 3k marks currently, with 10k rep still to go until tier 5.

Thing is, as minor as you find it and as quickly as you blew it off, it still has a great deal of "content" in it - all the art assets for the zone, the cutscenes, several quest instances, music, boff missions, dialogue, etc.... all things that took time & staff to make.
Even if it's content you don't like, it's still content. (As new PvP content would still be content, even if you couldn't pay me real $$$ to go anywhere near that trash.)
If season 8 story content is locked behind more grind, so help me...
Cryptics main problem is their content designers havnt got a clue how to design FUN. Locking away story behind grind is moronic. At worst Id have made players grind to complete Tier 1, then just released all 5 cut scene content missions at once. Releasing 1 per grind tier doesnt stretch out the usefulness of a new adventure zone, it just makes us loathe a new adventure zone by the time you unlock tier 2. Mind you I grinded up to tier 3 so far just on the space missions, after doing New Romulus ground missions once and saw how boring and drawn out they were.
Cryptic's next dev hire needs to be a fun consultant, because clearly Dan hasnt got a clue on the stuff he signs off on. It is possible to design fun grind, so far Cryptic is incapable of it. The cut scene missions are cool, especially when we are starved for story progression content. But the rest of the zone is an unentertaining waste. The map itself could have been designed for fun, and its not, it relies on its missions for fun, and they are not.
And speaking of poor design talent, I love how the Tholian HQ is laid out like it was made for humans...

Stale or not, this zone was the first one that made me feel like STO is a decent MMO. That zone is inspiring. Even if the grinding gets boring FAST. :P
The Romulan adventure zone was stale from the start for me.
I got bored with New Romulus during my very 1st play though.
Some find the adventure zone entertaining but I just found it unappealing.
I have to force myself into going to New Romulus when I start running low on marks, I did not know that I could farm the mice with bows to exchange for marks or I would have been doing that.
I will be hitting T4 in both rep systems today and I'm already dreading the next 2 weeks to T5.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to force myself to get any of my alts to T5 in either rep system.
Cryptic needs to add an STF type mission that rewards Romulan Marks or maybe add some Romulan Marks to the existing STFs.
If there is such a thing has fun grind, I'm sure that this is not it.
I must say while I am slowly collecting the Romulan Marks for certain gear, I find it astonishing how hard it is to get them, when compared to how easy you can get the related Omega Marks.
But I am not much on New Romulus itself anyway, I just prefer space.
For anybody who doesn't do Elite STFs, the complete opposite is true...
I find it astonishing that there are so few ways to get Omega Marks compared to getting Romulan ones.
And please don't go on about how easy ESTFs are... that may be quite true for you, but not for most casual players.

Is there someone holding a gun to your head saying "you must make tier 5 in all reputation systems in STO by the middle of January or else"? Seriously, if you're not looking forward to the grind DO NOT DO IT. Rather, do something you do enjoy. Coming into the forums and complaining the grind is boring/too mind-numbing/just not fun, then proceeding to go in game and do the grind is counterproductive and just encourages the devs to make more grind.

The space daily gives enough marks to last 2 days almost. So just do the daily space. You don't even have to find 5 different ones to do.

I just think if they were going to try and really attack these content problems, they'd have to start small and work up to it and the PvP area takes less effort, man hours, and programming but yeah.....KDF is sorely lacking in most areas.

"Don't do it"
Wow that's quite the concept.
Here's the rub... "THERES NOTHING ELSE TO DO"
I want the New Gear and Passive so guess what I have to do the grind to get the stuff.
Whether I like the grind or not will not change the fact that it must be done.
I don't like the New Rep systems and I'm not going to pretend to; however, I do like getting new items and increasing the strength on my Characters so I'm willing to suffer though the grind to get the stuff that I want (at least once).
And by all means if you can still find something fun in STO that you've already run at least 500 times please share it with the rest of us.
I returned to STO this past December after my 2nd 6 month hiatus so you'll have to forgive me for doing the best that I can with what I've been given.
I have just finished both Tier fives.
Now, i get this queasy feeling in my tummy. That awful feeling, when you feel sick and a little bit of tummy acids find its way almost all the way into your mouth.
I take a look at the different projects i can unlock to get some new nicknack... ...then i think; 'Nah. Not today'...
we got: - 5 official Cryptic missions == an equivalent of a whole FE, it is just locked behind a reputation grind, which you would do anyway. It is also replayable, the only thing is the mission rewards are not so good..
you can also grind all 5 tiers first and then play all the missions at once. IT IS YOUR CHOICE.
- end game gear for EVERYBODY. so it takes a little grind. And?
- tons of Dillithium for everything you were previously doing for free
Stale? No way, I'm on nr at least once a day doing some mark event or something. Yes I've done all the missions but this place is still amazing fun. Have you found the hidden accolades? This is a great place. Thank you cryptic. Plus the music is just top notch.

- end game gear for EVERYBODY. so it takes a little grind. And?
Do you play for fun, or for a bunch of pixel with nice stats ? Gear is always nice, but IMO, the most important is to have fun while we earn it. Using the reputation system is not fun, except if you are a machine that enjoy watching a timer going to 0.
- tons of Dillithium for everything you were previously doing for free
Since you have to pay for a lot more things that were free before, it's nothing.
We have to pay for omega/maco/hornor guard stuff, we have to pay for DOFFS.
- new gear
Already said.
- new Zone and sector with some space missions
By space mission, you mean "enter and kill several waves of bad guys". Yeah, awesome. Want me to make some space mission in the foundry ? I could do that in less than 5minutes.
The sector and new romulus is nice, but the content is meh.
- 2 new STF's and new Fleet actions
Probably the only good stuff, even if the STF can't be done in pug, and the fleet action reward very little, I've done them only once for the novelty.

OOohhhhhh thats where the new content is, locked behind a grind to to replace my current end game gear with the same end game gear. No wonder I could never find that content everyone swore was there.
New Romulus is a good area, a good place for things to happen. Its just what happens there isn't all that exciting. All of the missions there are either run and hit f, or run and shoot things, or both. Honestly, if I want that, I'd play one of the foundry grind missions, they are just the same and give better rewards.
Sure there are the reputation locked missions, but the reason they were locked was only to buy time for the devs to come out with the next big thing, and since the andorian ship isn't coming out this month, their scheduling is off. Otherwise everyone would have been done with them in one day. And no, they are not the equivalent of an FE, all of them are on one map, with one objective, and one thing to do, kill everything. At least some of the FEs had a bit of puzzle solving to do. And again the rewards were better with the FEs.
I will give props for the area, it is wonderful. Everything else, I've seen better.
Here's an idea. Open up foundry access to have doors placed on New Romulus and in the new sector. Then for any foundry missions that starts there, instead of having the officer report mission reward fleet marks and dilithium, have it reward romulan marks. After all, since the foundry is supposed to be the future of STO story, lets put it to some good use.
I actually found New Romulus pretty impressive and different. However, the great thing is that players who don't really like it or prefer to spend more time in space don't have to go there to earn Romulan marks. Still, one can't say S7 didn't come with a lot of new content. Lots of new gear, a new sector space block, New Romulus, new ships, etc.
