After hitting Tier 5 on New Romulus I received the mission "Secret of the Ancients" which instructed me to go to the Underground Ruins. Did that, and I have no idea where to go from there. The Romulan at the transporter only offered me the previous mission I had just done.

How do I get this mission started?
It's a side mission inside the T4 mission to get a cutscene from a console in the last room.
I did like the romulan eva suits, you could actually see through their helmets and see their faces, hopefully we can get some tech onto our sets like that

Got to wait a few hours then. Bit of a letdown to be honest.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Seriously this one is idiotic. You are issued a mission at Tier 5 and need to contact D'Tan but there is no way to simply contact him. I have been told by some folks that you have to re-run the Tier 4 mission in order to access the Tier 5 mission which is again silly. If you are issued a mission you should be able to run the mission. The hardest part of a mission should never be trying to start the mission.
So I guess in order to run my T5 I need to re-run what? The Power Plant mission and it starts from within that mission? Not one of Cryptics brightest moments.
Its a disgusting design, if they couldn't get it done on time they had a month after to do it and put it in, but they didn't do that.
Nothing really seemed to happen to the ancient sword arc or the mysterious creature that evolved all the animals in a specific way they hinted it at several times. Complete failure in the use of the zone, just like Defera, Nukara, and Bajor before it.
This was pi$$ poor......The tholians kicked us out of the main room....we defeated them, then a popup says mission completed.....We exit and nothing.....
Nothing was ever said you MUST stay in the main room to access a console/cutscene...etc..... to wrap up tier 5.........
Now I have to wait another 20 hours because of cryptic's laziness, and poor mission planning to try again???

When you hit T5, you get the mission "Secret of the Ancients".
You actually have to redo the T4 mission in the underground ruins. Complete it and in the main room you get a popup to signal D'tan to beam in. Click that and the cutscene begins.
Technically there is no T5 mission, it is just a cutscene you can only access at the end of redoing the T4 mission.
Hope that helps
Not very good I know, but that is what we have.....

Without secret of the ancients mission in your progress tab, it's useless to do the underground ruins mission. Unless you are really into the story and want to follow up on the Star Trek plot. Secret of the Ancients will give you the cutscene and it's what you need to get the huge reward everyone is talking about in the chat .
Edit: Also, everyone that's whining they can't get the cutscene, you probably failed the mission by not being able to prevent the core from overloading. Save the two consoles and you will be fine (play on normal difficulty if you have to).
Besides setting the difficulty to normal or going there with another team is there a better strategy to avoid the core from overloading?

The mission doesn't fail if you don't stop the overload. You just miss out on ten extra Romulan Marks.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

Away team with 2 engineers and 2 tacs. Drop chroniton mines all over the spot where the tholians beam in. Put turrets around the edge of the map. Park your away team in the middle of the platform with shield and medi generator (will get blown up but they can drop more) but spread out so single tholian mines won't take all of them at once.
If you can't take the tholians, try to kill all but one minion of the first wave. Put your dudes on passive and wait out the timer (not sure if this still works haven't tried it since t4 was pretty new).
Use a tac officer with stealth to get to the generators without tholian interference while your dudes handle the main room. Or as an engineer/sci just use your shield/self heals to survive incoming shots while you don't fight back.
Alternatively, as mentioned, go ahead and lose the timed portion of the fight, then clear the room at your leisure and do the cut scene after. You just miss out some marks.

No Ring platform, No DHD, No Zero Point Module.
Heck not even a Zombie box.
The Ancients didn't leave any cool toys this time.
lol
I'll hit tier 5 sometime this weekend hopefully.
Wait till Season 8. I heard it's going to focus on a Lost City under the oceans of New Romulus.
Got to wait a few hours then. Bit of a letdown to be honest.
Unless it has a chair, and a Instant Skill up device, I am not interested.
Gungan City? .. Oh, no wait, mesa sorry.
Dear Santa,
..Win button.
..and a bunch of mind controlled drones.
Rest in Peace Brothers
And possibly found off screen sometime between your first arrival and hitting T4 as their analyzing what they think is the sword in the T4 cutscene.
Anyway to pick it up again -after- you get your Tier 5?

Completed Starbase, Embassy, Mine, Spire and No Win Scenario
Nothing to do anymore.

YES! It is idiotic! The devs are really lazy!
If you ran Underground Ruins at T4, you wasted your time because it wasn't required as part of that rep tier.

That was very clearly stated here.
It's also in the mission journal here.
