From one of the 2800 missions where the Enterprise shows up to help: http://forums.filefront.com/members/78734-flash525-albums-star-trek-online-picture10204-screenshot-2012-12-09-15-19-45.jpg

  1. The Enterprise was the Odyssey, though was renamed as the flagship (similarly as the Sao Paulo was renamed to Defiant and Enterprise-B (apparently) renamed to Lakota).
  2. Starfleet Engineers can't count or write/print correctly, and thought one ship was the other.
  3. Someone at Cryptic Studios just got lazy. :P

This is suppose to be the Flagship for the Federation guys, what's with the lack in detail? We've got a similar problem with the Constitution Class USS Reuben James which has NCC 1701 written on the hull.

My inner pedantic nerd makes me have to tell you that the Lakota and the Enterprise-B were not the same ship. They were just both Excelsior Class refits

"Odissey" is supposed to be the model of the ship, and "Enterprise" (1701-F) is the name of the flagship that use this model. I suppose Cryptic guys just got lazy.

My vote is on that as well... And not for the first time I might add.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

This is just an example of laziness. The USS Lakota that appears in the game in various missions change class and type in each mission.

The Enterprise-B was never renamed the Lakota only the shooting model.

I did say rumored. I've read several articles that try to explain why the Enterprise-B and Lakota were the only two Excelsior Refits ever seen in the show, the common answer (or theory) is that they are the same ship.

They were using Miranda and Constellation Class vessels well into the late 23rd and early 24th century, in addition to the common Excelsior. It doesn't seem too farfetched to think that the Enterprise-B was redeployed after a retrofit under a different name. I'm not saying that is the case, only that such wouldn't be impossible. :)

I knew of the Odyssey Class, though always assumed the Enterprise was the second vessel of that class to bare the name.

Maybe the Lakota is an unlucky ship, and new vessels bearing the name keep getting launched? ;)

So that means only two Excelsior-refits were built. Just because only one Sovereign has been shown, does it mean the Enterprise is the only one especially when Starfleet's MO is to build the class vessel first (Ambassador, Galaxy, Defiant, Excelsior, and the Intrepid to name a few). Besides, the Lakota has a different registry than the Enterprise and in the Enterprise Haynes book, the Enterprise-B was lost. In other video games, there have been other Excelsior-refits such as the USS Berlin.

Well, the USS Kirk went first from a Stargazer-class in the opening months of STO to an Excelsior-class when the Excelsior-class released to an Exeter-class when that class was released. Honestly, I just want Cryptic to stop changing ships and their classes. If they want to update the ship to reflect a new registry, I am all for it.

4: it's a bug, I've seen that ship named Enterprise when that mission was new...when they updated or fix/Broke the mission they must have put the C store ship model in.

There are two C store model One: USS Odyssey NCC-97000 , and the other version the 10 slot Odyssey is USS Odyssey NCC-1701-F...So I'm assuming they put in the wrong ship model when they updated the mission.

Cryptic spend time to make quality stuff? Really, lower your expectations.

There was only one discussion about the Enterprise-B being renamed and that was on the talk page of the Enterprise-B.

Either way, its just another theory. Unless the registry is encoded into the model, just change the registry.

Notice too that the Federation emblems on the saucer are red instead of blue....a bug that's been present on the NX Class since that ship was released (haven't looked at it recently to see if they ever fixed it).

The sad thing is if they see this thread, this is probably the kind of thing they'll drop everything for and get the ENTIRE TEAM working to fix ASAP. Meanwhile actual gameplay bugs that have been unresolved for months will continue to collect dust on the shelf...

In regards to the Excelsior/Excelsior Refit discrepancy, I just assume the "refit" features were mission profile optimizations, not actual upgrades. As such not all Excels would have them, just ones commissioned/retrofitted specifically for certain roles. That would explain the greater representation of stock Excels in Next Gen era, without necessitating the E-B being renamed or more complex theories.
