Is it just me (and my fleet's) opinion, or is the Hive Elite (Space) almost impossible? I mean, we beat it but it was at a significant cost of time and frustration (and repair components!) and... any word on it being balanced?
Try to think back to Season 5 launch... People said the same about every (elite) STF out there...
Yes, some minor adjustments were made, but in the end, all it really took was a good strat, and people working together.
I say wait a month, run it regularly, and then take a stance on the topic.
My fleet and I almost hit the optional in our first run, so it can't be super hard... Hard yes... But not impossible.
Yea i don't want to see more Nerfing in the game i want to see Players getting smarter about the game play, quit dumbing the game down, payers need to smarten up.
I hope it's not being toned down. If it was as easy as the other STF elites there would be no reason at all to advance in the reputation system and to buy the new gear. Look at it as a STF made to match the new abilites and gear.
I think it could use some tweaking with regards to the invisi torps flying around, but really it isn't the death sentence it's made out to be. That said, it is absolutely unforgiving of even the slightest mistake. In ISE if one person blows a gen slightly too early, that's not too big of a deal if the rest of the team has decent dps or there's someone with good CC skills. In CSE someone with repulsors can compensate for a cube or two being taken out early or out of sequence. But if you aggro the entire mob of tac cubes at once in HSE then it's pretty much guaranteed that the team will wipe and wipe quickly with little chance of salvaging the opt.
Is it just me (and my fleet's) opinion, or is the Hive Elite (Space) almost impossible?
No, but it's not "almost impossible." I just ran a team of four fleet members and a pugger through hive elite and we got all the optionals. Even if one of our players was running a rainbow ody and died like *checks the parser* six times.
I can pass this with a pug if im using my B'rel with [CrtH] x3 tricobalt mines and torps, not doable in any of my other ships unless with fleet or private match.
Why is this thread still active? It's a moot point. HOE is not impossible, it's not in need of being toned down. Players who posted that it's too hard are just in need of getting new gonads or actually learning to play. And possibly re-arming themselves. And stop being wimps who can't take a death or two.
THIS ISN'T SEASON 6 LADIES AND GENTS. The Borg aren't scrubs you can faceroll anymore. Get used to it.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
We regularly hit 3/3 in hive elite, 2/3 if things go really bad. Not sure what the big deal is, adapt?
I get 2/3 on most of my pug runs. It's not that hard. The only time I end up dying on my escort is when everyone else dies in phase 2 and I end up eating a full Torp Spread by myself.
Hive is not impossible. It, however, isn't very forgiving if you make a mistake. If one person goes forward and uses single target fire on a cube, then falls back to the remaining group, your group will be able to eliminate 1 cube at a time. The Queen's 2 cylindrical guards, can be taken down one at a time as well.
The lance weapons are going to kill you if you stop moving, so keep moving and you'll stay alive longer. You can porpise in and out of range, 11 to 9km from the baddie, so you can get out of range easily to heal up and return to the fight quickly.
As for the torpedo spreads, something not visible is ahead of that spread that takes down a shield facing. It's about .5 to 1km ahead of the lead torpedo. I upgraded video cards to a current gen card without a change in being able to see this nasty surprise.
With a shield facing down just before the arrival of torpedos, it's certain doom if you aren't prepared for it. You can use brace for impact along with polarize hull to minimize the damage from the torpedos.
If absorbing damage is not your thing, torpedoes are only able to fly so far before they explode, so using evasive maneuvers to move far away helps. The down side to flying away is waiting for full impulse power to be available to get back in range of the baddies.
Did it for the first time on elite today, here is my experience:
The first part: pulled too many cubes and spheres -> got killed and enemies were on our spawn point. after waiting for all to respawn and not one after another we got rid of them and could continue, needed too much time for optional, but ok.
Second part: difficulty is ok but enemies should more focus on one target (me with thread control) instead of killing the others flying escorts...
third pard: the queen should also be affected more by thread control, she even selects carrier pets as target. but since only one must stay alive i can live with that.
our problem was: is she really that hard to kill or did we have too bad dps? we could't even get the shields down... we were shooting and shooting but at least we could get her down.
her damage output was ok for me, after a while i figured out when to use brace for impact etc. and didn't die anymore.
after all i would say: difficulty is fine, maybe adjust the way those two big vessels and the queen select their target and increase the reward because it is really hard compared to the other STFs
I don't understand.. people wanted a challenge and when they get it they want it nerfed.. It's suppose to be the final boss of the Borg arc for goodness sake... Do not change it. It's suppose to be difficult.
I haven't tried hive mission but I have been seen some problems with Kiltomer in Stasis on elite is more difficult than it has been in the past for instance some of the higher borg such as heavy and elite tactical are near impossible for even five players to kill and they kill you in just a few shots and the infected drones run full sprint at you and after you are killed nearly all the borg on the map will go all the way to where you spawn back and kill you again and again I say that the developers tweaked it and now its broken and very irritating to even atempt to complete it for Borg neural processors, I know the regular mission has a chance of getting one but you get more on elite I a few times got 11 of them, but it just makes me angry to the point I don't enjoy the game. I know I ain't the one doing something wrong I remodgulate my weapons and they do at least 90 damage to them normally but on elite they don't even do 10. I enjoy a game more when it has enemies that pose a challenge but are beatable not unbeatable something needs to be done.
Kiltimer in stasis elite has the same problem of over powered borg. Sprinting drones? amd unbeatable elite drones and drones walking all the way from where you where killed all the way to the spawn point and kill you again and again till you get extremly angry and quit the match because of the dozens of character injuries and no mission progress then you have a hour ban from PVE
Once you know what to do. Hive space isn't actually that bad.
The issue is that there's so many enemies that if you aggro too much of the room at once, you're horribly screwed, and getting close to the unimatrix ships and the diamond are bad ideas. Really, the only change I see that might be a good idea, is preventing cubes from spawn camping.

Um... No, you are doing it wrong if you die that much in Khitomer Ground. I run that plenty and die maybe once or twice if I do something overly stupid.
Here's a hint: you want to kill the Borg effectively? Bring their shields down. But here's a spoiler: the Borg have hardened shields on ground elites. Your weapons will only do at most 25% of their normal damage elite borg shields. But once their shields are down, your damage will return to normal.
Recommended weapons: Phased Tetryon Pulsewave Assault (actually tetryon pulsewaves work too, tetryon anything for that matter). It gives you KB, and slows targets and possibly nukes their shields too. And if your team focus fires on the dangerous drones (aka tacticals, heavy tacticals, elite tacticals), you won't have any trouble. A lesser known fact is you can melee stun lock heavies and elites. Have someone use a melee weapon on them, and they will start to attack them instead, and the rest of the team can kill them.
Your main problem is your team was probably stupid and aggro'd the whole force field chamber, which yes, will likely result in your whole team dying, but stay dead. After all of you are dead, the drones will return to their original spots. Then you guys can respawn, and more carefully take out the groups ONE AT A TIME. And don't be afraid to run away from the Borg. I mean, they are the Borg ffs.
The Borg aren't unbeatable. I have beaten that mission too many times on elite during S7 to even consider that statement having the slightest grain of truth in it. And don't pug. Seriously. That's just asking to lose.
