We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.25.20121210a.4

General:
  • Updated German and French Translations.
  • Second Wave: When teamed, other players will no longer show up during the cutscene.
  • Updated the Galrondon Core System patrol so the Gekli no longer fail to start moving again after waiting for the player.
  • Corrected prompt when services are not available in Klingon Embassy to read Service Not Available rather than "Interact".
  • Mugato Critter Group thrown rock attack no longer leaves rubble that slides around wildly and sticks around for too long.
  • Updated the FX for High Yield torpedoes so they should remain visible and will no longer linger after they explode.
  • Added a new icon to the Adapted FX.
  • Tholians have been updated.
    • They look way more awesome now.
  • Added all new art for the Klingon Toron shuttle, so it is now the Klingon equivalent to the Federation Runabout.
  • Updated descriptions for Klingon Starbase Shipyard project unlocks to correctly list the ships available at each tier.
    • This is a text change only.
  • The Tholian Deep Space Encounter now resets properly after completion.
  • Updated the materials used on the Nausicaan and Fek'ihri ships.
    • Players will have the option to use both the new and existing materials on their ships.
    • NPC ships will have the updated visuals.

Systems:
  • Omega Reputation:
    • Tier 4 Store Unlock Projects for "Consumables" and "Prosthetic Arm Guns" will now properly unlock the associated gear without requiring players to have run the associated T2 Store Unlock Projects beforehand.
      • This is a retroactive fix.
      • Any player that has already ran these projects will find their gear in the Store tab and will not need to re-run any projects to access them.
  • "Console - Universal - Nadeon Detonator" will now enhance any standard torpedo, instead of only functioning with Photon Torpedoes.
  • All "Phased Polaron Beam Array" items have had their display names changed to "Dominion Polaron Beam Array"
  • All "Phased Polaron Dual Cannon" items have had their display names changed to "Dominion Polaron Dual Cannon"
  • Fixed a typo in the Nausicaan Personnel project
  • The Embassy Console store no longer has duplicate items instead of some of the proper consoles that should have appeared in the store.
  • Reinforced Environmental Suits will now display on Photonic Bridge Officers.
  • Corrected the description of Reactive Shielding.
  • Corrected the description of Transportation Officer Duty Officers.
  • Reduced the duration of the NPC Borg Cutting Beam.
  • Reduced the likelihood a Borg ship will use Cutting Beam.
  • Subsystem Targeting tooltip descriptions now more accurately reflect the effects of these abilities.
  • Sonic Pulse tooltip description no longer has a reference to "feet" as a unit of measurement.
  • Scramble Sensors no longer persists thru the death of the target.
    • This may fix odd UI behavior associated with dying while under the effects of Confuse.
  • Isometric Charge, NPC Version:
    • Reduced damage on each hit by between 25% and 30% per hit.
    • Reduced range of "jumps" from 5km to 3km.
    • Reduced damage variance from 10% to 5%.
      • This means fewer high-damage spikes, but also fewer low-damage duds.
    • NOTE: Borg Queen's version still has a larger firing arc and shorter cooldown than other NPC ships, as it always has.
  • Borg STF Enemies:
    • Reduced damage variance on all Plasma Torpedo abilities from 10% to 5%.
    • Plasma DOTs applied by Torpedo hits have been reduced to 80% of prior magnitude.
  • Added information on Tricobalt Torpedoes to long descriptions for Torpedo: High Yield all types/ranks.
  • Fleet Duty Officers:
    • Corrected more Department/Spec discrepancies, most notably all Armory Officers are now properly a part of the Security Department instead of Tactical Department.
  • Updated Reactive Deflection:
    • Updated the description to clarify its functionality.
    • Increased the duration of ability to 2 seconds.
    • Added a limitation that Reactive Deflection cannot proc more than once every 30 seconds.
  • Fixed a typo in the description of Blast Assault weapons where they were erroneously described as Exploting targets rather than Exposing them.
    • This is a text change only.
  • Corrected the Warp In animation for ships summoned by Romulan Distress Call items.
  • The Omega Reputation Power "Rotating Weapon Frequency" has been updated and improved.

UI:
  • Using /p to chat on a team no longer changes the chat main tab to Team.
  • Choose Your Away Team window:
    • When leaving instances on New Romulus, the window no longer shows more Bridge Officer options than are available.
    • While in a team the team leader is now visible on the "Choose Your Away Team" window.
  • Fixing a number of cases where the wrong spacecraft would be referenced in the UI
  • It's now possible to search for Warfare Specialist and Consultant Duty Officers on the exchange.
    • The Duty Officer types are now grouped together to reduce the size of the list of types.
  • Fixed a typo in Operational Asset - Gravatic Instability Probe.
  • Fixed a typo in the description of the Kinetic Cutting Beam.

[*]Updated the materials used on the Nausicaan and Fek'ihri ships.
    • Players will have the option to use both the new and existing materials on their ships.
    • NPC ships will have the updated visuals.

Sweetness :D A free updated material list for the two KDF ship styles, and I do mean free
    Was named Trek17.

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

    THAT UNPOSSIBLE?!?!? :D

Guess i'll have to check out this "new art".

Groovy!! Gonna have to check that out too!

    Interesting.
[*]Reinforced Environmental Suits will now display on Photonic Bridge Officers.
Why do Photonics need an EVA suit again?
    [*]Isometric Charge, NPC Version:
    • Reduced damage on each hit by between 25% and 30% per hit.
    • Reduced range of "jumps" from 5km to 3km.
    • Reduced damage variance from 10% to 5%.
      • This means fewer high-damage spikes, but also fewer low-damage duds.
    Good!

[*]The Omega Reputation Power "Rotating Weapon Frequency" has been updated and improved.
    How was it "improved"?

Everything else not quoted, *thumbs up*

Darkstar did you read the new ask Cryptic? In it Dstahl said something about a Dominion Lockbox coming around the 3 year anniversary so maybe these will kind of co-inside. Also I wonder if the Jem'Hadar ship set will update and the Dominion (Old Phased Polaron) weapons will be the new weapons buffed in the Ship set.

Nerfing even more the poor and puny borg npcs was really uneeded. They should get a massive buff instead, STFs are way too easy, especially the space ones. Fortunately no one ever had the idea to nerf ground borg npcs, but i guess they're on the "dumb it down" list. Come on, the current STFs are supposed to be scaled to RA ships and we have now ultra OP ones, this is getting ridiculous.

But i also see many good updates, such as the tholian red alert and the tooltip improvement. I hope you plan to remove all the vague ones. We need precise figures and %. Everywhere. :)

Yes I did, that's why I thought it was "Interesting".

I doubt it, there would be little but anger with the change, since they are just a Hybrid w/ crtH bonus.

For that matter, why wasn't the Chel Grett added to the Jem set since it was a Dominion ally like the the cardasians.

all that sounds awesome. the toran made... better? a stat clone of the runabout instead of more like the type 8? does it look different? the new skins for kdf ships, some fixes and updates to varies things, i like it. hopefully borg wont 1 shot as much anymore too. what really needs to happens borg to shoot more, and deal less damage per hit. that way their crits wont kill you no mater what you do. same thing for all npcs

phased polaron becoming dominion polaron is a tell that the next rep to grind will be dominion rep, and there will be these weapons unlocked in a store. i thought this would eventually happen. dan said the next lock box will be dominion, this update tells me a rep will be launched around then too, i wouldn't even be surprised if theres a gamma quadrant sector block added in season 8 too, with another embassy.

The stats weren't changed -- the existing Toron shuttle is more in-line stat-wise with the Runabout than the Type 8. We adjusted the visuals to represent that. :)

    That's what I thought.
Once I have Tribble updated, i'll expect to see something that looks less like a KDF Worker Bee.

Except for the fact, that the Toron Shuttle is SUPPOSED to look like a "KDF Worker Bee"

What are the chances of seeing more of these "weapon-specific" Universal Consoles, function more.... Well, universally? The "Photon emission torpedo" for example would be nice, if it could work with any torpedo type capable of being "Spread" or "High Yield". Any torpedo should be able to be modified to track plasma emissions, since the "sensors" and "weapon yield" are not directly tied together.

Aw man, nothing about fixing this UI Bug. Don't they know how frustrating it is having to reslot stuff everytime you change devices?

Not to mention how NumEnter is now the same as the Enterkey, when before it was a seperate key.

And of course how the BioNeural Torpedo still can't be fired by the Torpedo key.

    Zero: the Toron shuttle;
Standard view, Borg set w/ console = crazy

might tell the artist that the borg console visual needs adjusted on the shuttle. It looks a little .... strange with the giant pieces.
Otherwise, send my Kudos to the artist.

Ok I have to agree with why the weapons will most likely not bonus the space set. Also I would like to see the new Breen Ship added to the Jem'Hadar set; The Galor and the Jem'Hadar attack fighter are buffed by it maybe they will add the Breen ship the least we can do is just ask them to add it.

The "emission-seeking" torp already does work with other torp types. I use it all the time with the regent 180 degree torp.

I did say "for example". I don't know when they changed it, but I know I tested the Exeter and it's Emission-Seeking console while it was on Tribble, and back then it -only- worked with Photons.

The Bellerophon "Shockwave Torpedo" console is another example of being Photon-specific (unless that too has changed?!?)

so the exchange categories are awesome, love that improvement. im a bit puzzled at the kdf shuttle though

why wasn't this released as a new shuttle? the old torran could have been a type 8 clone, will this one could be a runabout clone, each with the same price structure. or you could have sold this in the c store like all the fed c store small craft. did so expect to make so little off it that you didn't bother? i actually would have bought it, to support the kdf.

well, it looks awesome at least. was it a little side project a ship artist worked on? i just have 1 problem with it, its got cool outboard cannons but it cant equip duel cannons. if you look at the thing, its feels kinda silly that you cant. the kdf cruisers can equip cannons, so... let the shuttle do it too! fed small craft are much more numerous and many are much better, it would be nice if this had something.

[*]Fixing a number of cases where the wrong spacecraft would be referenced in the UI

I just went into Tribble to check this and it seems that you need to fix a few more cases. The name and ship type of the shuttle is still wrongly used instead of the ship name in the character selection screen. Also, renaming the shuttle will change the decal of the ship to the shuttle's name and number.

I agree. Photon Torpedoes are the least-favored among players because their faster refire rate vs. Quantum torpedoes tends not to be worth the reduced per-volley damage, since the faster refire rate is only useful if you actually get an opportunity for that second shot (i.e. the enemy has not restored shields to that quadrant or moved outside of your firing cone during the recharge time).

Don't be ridiculous. We know Cryptic has the tech to "exempt" certain torpedo types. The example in question not withstanding (currently limited to Photon torpedoes). It wouldn't be too difficult to exempt Tricobolts. Photons, Quantums, Plasma and Chroniton would be nice thou.

Yes, Tri Torps would be overkill, but standard torps should work more universally with these consoles.

Though one could make the argument that tri-cobalts being so slow would be easy enough to counter.
