First half of 2013? Really? This is the same ship that has been promised for almost 3 years. Can we at least see a picture, not to say I think you are blowing smoke up everyone's butts, but something solid would be nice to see.

Honestly...I don't see what would be the point of that...the idea of a broadsider sounds kinda pointless to me.
And it has a custom bridge? "Ha ha ha TRIBBLE you Vesta buyers." :rolleyes:

Vestas probably wouldn't have very unique bridges anyway, considering they aren't actually relatively recent ships in the Trek timeline.
And since there's still very little to do on Bridges even with the Doff assignments, it's really not a big deal.
That fits more appropriately.
But if they did that, then wouldn't the fore/aft approach be the most lethal where the side-mounted beams overlap? Of would you be mounting DHCs port / turrets starboard?
I'd see it more like DHCs or single cannons. Would be kinda cool though.
Any sort of explanation about why it is suddenly a possible 6 months away from being finished would be nice. Just keep us in the loop a little bit cryptic. Some of us have literally been waiting years for this.
You probably don't hang around many Ambassador-class fans.
They've mentioned a broadsiding ship concept several times over the past couple(?) years. It really doesn't fit with the Andorian's style though (which would be more along the lines of an Escort "all guns forward" approach). I think that concept would be much better suited for a Tellarite ship.

I was really looking forward to the andorian ship. It sounds like he made the announcement in error, I can understand that. Still doesn't make me any happier about it not coming out next month.
Well if they stick any Andorian ship in a lock boxs, The War of Season 7, and The Veteran rewards riots will pale in comparison.
The Vulcan ship, and Catain ship were not lockbox, and doing that to the Andorian...well yeah it will get ugly, and I will not have enough Popcorn in the world to watch that battle.
They've already confirmed the next Lockbox will be Dominion-themed, so unless the Andorians are defecting I doubt they'd put them in that one.
Amen! I would be one of those fighting as well. I just wish we could actually get some clearcut answers on the Andorian ships.
#1 Which ship exactly are they releasing as the escort?
#2 Which ship is the broadsider?
#3 Can they confirm to us "the people" that these Andorian ships will be in the C-store?
I have asked #3 countless times, even asked mr D-stahl when he was in game once. I have NEVER got an answer from someone at Cryptic on this. Sure ive been told by players, Oh they are Andorians, they will be in the C-store..but its all speculation on the players part.

You're forgetting that there will be a lockbox *after* the dominion lockbox.
Given that it's getting a bridge, my money says it's going in that one. As far as I'm aware, the only non-lockbox ships to get a bridge were the TOS Connie, and the DS9 bundled Defiant (you didn't actually get a ship, you got a bridge and interior pack on the latter).
With the way they handled the Akira there is already a precedent for cruiser-weight ships being tagged as escorts. All they need to do is slap a Kumari appearance on the Breen cruiser, let it load cannons (if it can't already, I can't remember off the top of my head) and hey presto, legions of Shran fans are made happy in an instant.

Remember he also said something along the lines of: "Season 8 will be all about the KDF!" to "We're still trying to get permission to do something with the KDF" in the space of about two weeks.
So going from Januray to first half of 2013 isn't that big a deal.
However on the subject of the andorian ship: About bloody time! When I saw the Andorian ship appear on the Engineering report I was intrested, then it moved up one step so I started leveling a Andorian captain, with a 100% Andorian crew. Even managed to knock together a sort of Andorian uniform from availible parts.
And that brings us to three years later...
Putting weapons on the SIDE of the ship is what enables you to fly at high speed while firing on a target and not getting any closer to it. It combines offense and defense. The trouble with doing this using traditional beam arrays is that beam arrays are ridiculously inefficient with their power usage. Putting side weapons on the ship enables the use of far more efficient dual beam arrays, as well as side-firing torpedoes to capitalize on shield holes that you open up.
On the whole I would expect a broadside battlecruiser to be an adept of "fire and maneuver", chugging along at high speed while firing on targets to the left and right simultaneously and to equal effect. I'm very excited to explore the tactical ramifications of such a ship.
The big problem here is not Cryptic, yes they had issues but if you look at it, the biggest problems started when Perfect World took over. We lost a large player base when Cryptic got bought and it was for the reasons we see today. Chinese overlords going for immediate results, aka lockboxes. Don't be surprised if Perfect World does release the Andorian ship to lock boxes.
Why would they do this? Aside from not caring about players it would get them the most money. The Andorian ship is popular, and would benefit the most from a lockbox special. The Vulcan ship was released before the PWE took over, and the caitian carrier is not popular enough to warrant a lockbox.

As for the Andorian ship itself, I don't think it should be an Escort as much as a battle cruiser, aka a combat focused cruiser so it does not specialize in tanking, but not as good in combat as a defiant is. This would make it a little more true to the ship's design.
And the Ambassador class... you wait, they're looking for a lockbox for that one too.
Nonsense. FEDERATION SHIPS DO NOT GO IN LOCKBOXES! Do you not listen? Or pay any attention at all?
They have explicitly stated that we will have a new lock box ship AND the Andorian Escort.
By your same (stupid) reasoning, the Vesta would also have been in a lockbox - given that it has been the most anticipated ship in this game for quite some time, do you remember how many you saw flying around on launch day? They were absolutely everywhere.
We get it, you don't like PWE - doesn't mean you have to spout nonsense at the rest of us.

All I know is that I've been waiting to see an Andorian ship for quite a while now. Hope it actually comes out soon. I still can't really picture a beam boat as fitting, though.

Vulcan and Atrox bridge will they ever make one now since the blue guys are getting one.
I always imagined the carrier having a huge CIC.
The Wells class is a Federation ship and it is a lockbox ship so it should be Federation ships that belong in the early 25th Century do not go in lockboxes.
