That is possible. I've already contacted customer service. Thanks for the help.

I have exactly the same problem..

the process of merging was overly complicated and confusing ....

i sent in numerous tickets before the final merging process was implemented today and had no help or response other than for the ticket i had issued this morning....

sooooo my 2 year cryptic/lifer account didnt link properly too my pwe account... and it looks like i have lost everything ....

not very impressive is it really if this is how you look after your dedicated players.. so new players bare this in mind before you part with a bloody penny :P

But having said the above i will retract everything i have said and implied should the issues i have be resolved and i get all of my cryptic chars back and my lifer status.....

don't, just contact CBS, if many contact CBS, PW will be out of game permanently, with new Star Trek film coming out in may, I am peaty sure CBS won't risk angering its fan base. often they retract when many fans write in or stage a massive action....

I think i will wait before taking any further action.... sh*t happens sometimes and as long as people are willing to help im ok with that....

But.... should nothing happen.. then i will firstly take legal advice from my barrister... asking them to look into the problem and get them to contact trading standards here in the UK ..... then take the issue further with having them talk to any relevant media companies....

In the mean time.... i'll just wait... it is a distinct possibility I may of actually made a **** up my self during the merging process that is something i am open to :)

Just think how embarrassing that would be if i had and proceeded with any action legal or otherwise :)

When it comes to linking the accounts, Cryptic gave everyone a six month notice.

If anyone was still using their Cryptic account, after they made that announcement, you only have yourselves to blame. Everyone had a six months notice to get things sorted out.

I have no sympathy. Cryptic/Perfect World gave everyone enough notice.

People need to take some responsibility.

You should have called customer service on day one.

    You waited.

Customer service could have taken care of this within five minutes.

I called them with issues in the past, and customer service had no problem helping.

Sending tickets gets you nowhere. We all know that by now.

Our promotional account linking period has ended and linking is now mandatory. If you have not linked your account yet, please read more for full details.

NOTE: If you are using a PWE account (which you are if you are able to post in the forums), no action is needed.

Brandon, these steps didn't work for a friend of mine. The problem turned out to be related to the account login. If you enter an invalid account info, or otherwise end up on the PW incorrect login page by some other means, the account linking won't work.

To anyone else having the same problem, you need to log in with a working PW account then log out, or completely reset your session before attempting to link your account. If you don't, the process will not link your account properly and you will end up in some kind of a linking loop that can't be completed without CS help.

    nonsense,

many players left the game since that announcement, me being one of them, I left star trek when Creeps took over, I was subscriber with atari all till the end of 2011, than I left in early December 2011, not coming back till October, I am not forum user or read your forum, have better things to do than support some corporate forum, many gamers like me, had no clue about any account merger w.e and many had no idea about season 7, so what you're talking is just vile corporate spin, totally un-star trek like, read what Star Trek is all about, before replying.

The patch and the forced link of the accounts effectively erased my account.

I went to login, and i got a new users window. It looks like 3 years of beta and regular gaming, along with my lifetime 'membership' is all gone!!

However, for some of us, STEP 4-5 simply does not happen, so the whole linking process stops right there. We're left with an empty PWE account with the same Cryptic login and no way to access the cryptic account. Why can't you just merge empty PWE accounts to existing Cryptic accounts with the same user email and same login info? Send out a confirmation email to the said email if you have to.

So you guys created a system that automatically, without asking, puts an STO account on someone's PW account?

    What a horrible idea.

I just came back to the game yesterday. I try to log in and it says I SHOULD link my accounts. OK, sure... try to log into my PW account and it says the account was banned... for what I have no idea, last thing I ever did was beta test your Raiderz game for you guys.

So I email about that and no response yet. That is my main account, and I THINK it has other games on it already and want to link that one. I never got an email about a ban, and never did anything to get banned other than possibly trying to log in too many times, so it should be cleared.

I then read, in another post, someone saying that if you log in with any PW account you can then just say "no" to the link and then get around to your Cryptic login. Since I have to wait to link accounts then this is how I have to do it. I use my alternate PW account (since you can only have 1 account per email) and the launchers asks "Do you have a Cryptic account", I say no since I do not want to link these two. It then creates a new STO blank account.

So at this point I am locked out of one of my two PW accounts, and locked out of my Cryptic STO account. I can't even go link my STO account to my alt account since you guys unnecessarily created an STO account there without asking me to do so.

What a way to take something that should be easy and make it insanely complicated. How about at least giving people the option to clear STO accounts off a PW account if there are no characters on that account... at least that way people can go back and link accounts properly.

Try to come back to play your game and all I end up doing is spending hours trying to figure out your ridiculous account screwups.

    Hi Captains,

I've checked in with the CS team and they have assured me that they are on hand and answering your tickets about account linking as quickly as possible. Rest assured that your characters are not lost, and that they'll be able to help you through the process if you file a ticket at support.perfectworld.com or email in to customerservice@perfectworld.com. Please note that most players are going through the linking process without incident.

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

A simple solution to the problem of identical account names for both cryptic and pwe is a radio button that tells the login that you are accessing the cryptic account. then the websirte can advance to the do you have a pwe account question.

I decided to create a new account with a different account name to try to link that to the cryptic account.

Lo and behold when I entered the new account it already has a linked account to STO that is empty so logging in did not get me to the page that will allow me to link a cryptic account to it.

Stupid programming. A massive hole in the code logic.

I suppose there is no provision in your code to link a NEW pwe account to an OLD Cryptic account is there? How about linking a Cryptic account to a PWE account with the same account name?

How about a way to DELETE or RENAME my pwe account to something else so i can actually login to my cryptic account?
