Anyone have any admirals they'd be willing to share?

nagoraknagorak Member Posts: 882 Arc User
I have an idea for a mission which will involve a court martial proceeding, with a few admirals acting as judges. I could just come up with a few more admirals myself, but I figured some of you might have characters you'd be willing to share.

Here are the details. The admirals will be playing relatively minor roles, so it's basically a cameo role. If they do end up saying anything, I will respect your guidelines in regards to how they speak, demeanor, etc. Or, if you want, I can allow you to either approve whatever dialogue I provide for them, or allow you to write it yourself. Like I said, their role will be minor, so this really shouldn't be a big problem.

The proceeding will be taking place either in the vicinity of ESD or DS9 (exact venue to be determined). So, keep that in mind in case your admiral wouldn't be found in either of those places.

If any of you are interested in helping out, what I need you to do is take a screen shot of the costume sliders for your admiral using FRAPS, the windows screen shot tool, etc (the in-game screen shot option will not capture the UI). If you just used the defaults for most of the body options, then I only need to see what actually needs to be changed (proper face, uniform, combadge, hair/skin/uniform color, etc).

In addition to that I also need you to provide some info about your admiral (attitude, basic background, specific guidelines on how they would act, etc). If you've featured the character in a mission of yours, I can also try to play it to get a better idea of how they act, as well (but I may or may not have time, depending).

I will also provide a mention of the mission or series where the admiral can be found, if you want (this would probably be at the end of the mission, but could be during it, if it isn't too obtrusive).

Anyway, if you're interested in helping out, and increasing the screen time of your admiral character, let me know. Otherwise I guess I'll just have to crank out a few more myself.

Sure, sounds interesting how would you like the pics to be submitted in a PM or in this thread? (and I'll just take the pics on steam as it keeps the UI bars and the like)

It's up to you. You can put the pics online, whether on your own site, or via photobucket, etc, and link them here in this thread. Or if you'd prefer to send them via PM for some reason, you can do that, too. Either way.

Feel free to use any of these. You can alter the uniforms as you see fit. I'll put some character info in as well, but I'm not married to any of it, so if you use them, write them as it fits your story :) I'll be fine with anything as long as you don't kill them off, lol.

The first is Rear Admiral John Ellis: http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/ellis.jpg

He's only been recently promoted and while he may be young, he's shown he can handle tough situations. He commands the U.S.S. Pandora, an Odyssey class.

Next is Rear Admiral Ken Beckett: http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/beckett.jpg

He's half-human half-Vulcan, but tends more toward his human side. Quick to anger, but a fair commander. He's in charge of Starbase 63.

Then we have Admiral Tamara Petrov: http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/petrov.jpg

She's a severe and sometimes cold woman, but always does her duty and always gets results. She's in charge of Artificial Intelligence research at Utopia Planitia.

And last we have Rear Admiral Joseph Kline: http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/kline.jpg

He's a personable and affable man off the clock, but is all business when he needs to be. He's the head of Astrophysical Research at Starfleet, which often involves liason work with the Daystrom Institute.

Enjoy. Anyone else who reads this is free to use these guys as well.

(sorry I couldn't get it into 1 pic spilt into 4)

    Vice Admiral Isaac Jones

Tough but very fair he inspires loyalty from those who serve with him, married with a teeange daughter who lives on Earth, Former Commander of Task Force Ulysses which is now deactivated (well it will be when I finish my series :P) which was an Anti Terran Empire taskforce.

You can submit as many as you want, but I probably can't use every single one. I'm not sure how many judges I could realistically have...probably not more than about 9 at the most.

However, it's also possible I could find use for them elsewhere. I might be able to put some others in the audience or something. Or I could have them discussing what's going on like in the lounge, or possibly offer advice to the player.

In fact, if you really want, you can submit any other characters you'd like to have attend the proceeding. It would probably make the most sense if they were Starfleet officers and fairly high ranking (Lt. Commander at the very least, and Commander or Captain would make more sense). It just depends how much trouble anyone wants to go to screen shot their sliders. Also, realistically I'm probably not up for entering more than about 20 characters maximum (depending on how modified they are, if it's just face it's not so bad, but going through all the body sliders is more time consuming).

Well, most of my chars are pretty simple in the body sliders. I'll go make some pictures. :D

I can still possibly use the character. It's looking a little questionable whether the mission will end up getting done that soon, however. I still hope to pull it off, but it's already basically November and I haven't been finding the time. :(

Frankly, I would consider it an honour to even have one of my characters in a cameo role in one of your missions! :)

Here are the screenshots of him that I took in the tailor recently:

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=105702005
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=105701995
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=105701982

For his uniform, he wears the Vice Admiral Coat, with the main body coloured in A8, the trim in C6, the shoulders in H1, and the neck piece in I11. He also wears Padded Gloves, which are coloured completely white. For the Foundry version, which doesn't have many of the costume parts he wears normally (the DS9 Admiral set), he wears the Wrath of Khan belt, the TNG trousers (colour H1), soft boots (colour H1) and the standard 2409 Command Combadge. His combadge and rank pips are coloured A2.

In terms of personality, he comes from a family with a long naval heritage, going back to the 1800s. He's very proud of that, and strives to live up to his family's tradition. He's fairly straight laced, and to strangers and new acquaintances he can come across as a bit cold and aloof. However, once you have reached his inner circle of friends, like his Bridge Officers, he's much more personable. I suppose if you think Picard crossed with Commodore Norington from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you'd be on the right path.

2: Beltran - Male Orion, KDF Tac.

Beltran? As in Chakotay from Voyager?

Anyway, if you still need admirals you can use Admiral Youngs (representing Starfleet Intelligence) from my Ghosts of War saga. Let me know and I'll post her settings.

Hey guys, if you're still interested in this I'd like to ask a favor. Now that we can import costumes it would be a lot easier for me if you could just export your costume and then upload it.

You can now export both from the Foundry and from the Tailor in the main game, so it should be possible for either type of character.

If you export it, it should end up in the Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\Screenshots folder, called something like Costume_[YourCharacterName]. Just take the last one there and it should be the right one.

Then you can either upload it to a website or other data hosting service, or just e-mail it to my game related address: StarTrekAtlas@cox.net

I assume that's what you're asking for? This is Velzan Dar, a JAG/Security Admiral character.
You're welcome to use this character for your mission if you like. It'd be logical to have them at a Court Martial as they're attached to a JAG division.

They'll be featured in a mission that I'm currently remastering, and will be released if I am ever satisfied with it :P

Hope you find this helpful, let me know if you need any more info.

They aren't actually involved. They're mostly just there to give testimony as to the guy's character, and/or give their opinions on what happened, or what the character should do (which could be wrong or right). Maybe mention conflicts of interest on the part of the judges. Or maybe just make random comments that have nothing to do with the case (just nonsense that the player has to sort through when getting info).

If you want I can even let you decide what they would say about the whole thing. I'm willing to let anyone who donates a character give feedback on how they want them portrayed or act, or even write their dialogue entirely. And I can let you play through to make sure you're happy before publicizing the mission.

If there's ever a serious issue at some point I can sub in a character of my own making, so that would be the worst case scenario if someone was really unhappy. Since I can now import the characters it's not as much of a risk on my part in terms of time spent.

To save a costume from the normal game, you need to go to the tailor and select modify. Then at the bottom of the screen you'll see an option to Save or Load your costume.
