Why are these limited time projects so expensive?

chaz200565chaz200565 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Limited time projects.
With not much dilithium about, there are many important projects to do and prioritising them is important i think.
These limited time projects costing 200,000 dilithium, are far too expensive, and a complete rip off. Devs please either scrap them or get the cost in dilithium substantually reduced.
We are not all made of money.

    10 man fleet

    200,000k = 20,000 each

    20 man fleet

    200,000k = 10,000 each

Its a question of how many are in your fleet, if its small, you may wish to recruit or join a larger fleet,

That or make sure your leaders are not taking pointless ones, like tribbles, or none at all, they are afterall only cosmetic options.

Thats not the point. its still far too expensive. Projects should be at affordable prices, and 200,000 dilithium is far too much. its overpriced, abit like those vesta ships as well.

    It is the point ^^'

FLEETS are for many people, if your in a small fleet you just have to accept it, I've grown used to it, as for C-store ships thats a different matter :p

    ^ This

Seriously, why should Cryptic easymode fleet projects because some people can't be bothered to recruit for their fleets?

It's a FLEET project. Not a solo or small team project. It should need resources along the lines of something that ONLY a FLEET can provide. A FLEET, not a small squadron.

You know the saying, "many hands make light work?" That's the general idea.

I think it's meant as vanity content for the rich - look at it like this, at least it's not mandatory you complete those to progress.

Maybe if they threw a little customization in there it might spike it for me I am not a huge fan myself but it's also not in the way of anything I want to do so as they say these days, it is what is it.

If it were one person doing the project, that argument might fly that it's "just for the rich". Except that it's in almost all cases more than just a small handful.

200k dil isn't so much when you break it down by number of fleet members. 25 members in a fleet all contributing brings it down to the daily cap (8k) per member. I'm sure most decent fleets have more members than that.

I'm going to stress all contributing. In order for fleet projects to thrive, everyone must do their part. Projects aren't meant for the dead weight in your fleet.

Let's stop tip-toe'ing around the real answer here...

To make you spend your Dil on that, instead of Zen, so you spend Real Money on zen, to fill Cryptic and PWE's pockets with it.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Rich = resources to waste, as in having more than you need for essentials.

Which feeds into the vanity part of it all... I could call it aesthetic if you would prerfer but the point remains you are paying for something you don't need that does absolutely nothing.

In the light of that being thet case 200 dilithium is a lot.

200k is 200k, no matter how you look at it. At current exchange rates that's 13 bucks worth of Zen.

That said, the limited time projects don't add anything useful to your starbase, so feel free to skip them if you don't like them.

Solution: make them grant Mil/Sci/Eng starbase XP on completion.

Y'know, as a seperate thought, maybe...

Embassy featured projects only cost roughly a third of Starbase Featured projects?

So still expensive, but not the 200k cost. Maybe...75k or so? Pricy, but perhaps people would be more inclined to do them. The outposts, starting with the Embassy are meant to be cheaper and shorter than the 'big' Starbase, so why not have those Featured projects follow suit?

Plus...if they are gonna be releasing Featured projects for both the Embassy and Starbase, that is potentially 400k dilithium every two weeks, 800k if they have fleets on both sides.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

For the Ferasan Shadow Force, the projects get completed within minutes.

As for the Fed fleet over which I am an admiral, we have 70 members, but I am usually the only person active. That means that the projects never get done. I only get 7k-8k in a day, if I am lucky, and have many other things toward which I would like for my dilithium to go. Due to that, we are running drastically behind.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

It is a dilithium sink by nature. A way for Cryptic to balance the Dilithium/Zen Exchange. If they remove it, some other things, like fleet weapons would likely have to cost more dilithium to balance that out. Not a good option in my opinion, as the projects are just cosmetic changes that you dont need to have if your fleet cant spare the amounts needed to run it.

The purpose of the special projects is to provide members of large fleets with the opportunity to gain fleet credits. The limited time projects have the added feature of providing some nice aesthetics for the base, on top of the fleet credits.
