I always did stfs with my fleet for the drops and the dilithium to save for zen incase theres somit i need like a respec or ship. As well as the random chance of a purple mk xii console or weapon or whatever was nice.
Adding dilithium back has made me think i might want to do elite stfs again but without drops of loot which i need if i ever wana buy stuff on exchange which costs like millions i duno if i can be bothered now as that was my sole way of getting ec.
Only if you ever want to access the Gear you get from the STF vendors.
If you've got it already or think it's not needed, then you're set.
They're the same missions, even the new ones are too bad.
Guess it's your decision.

No it's not worth it. The entire loot system is broken and they want it that way to force more Zen purchases.. Enjoy the new reality.
Meh, most of the non-Borg-turn-in loot I got from STFs was vendor trash anyhow, compared to the Borg store gear and Dilithium Store gear. Just my 2 ECs.

I don't care how long you've been playing. I only care about how you play.
And remember to follow the rules.
I guess alot would depend on if you are a player who plays the game in order to grind and look at all the rewards you've gotten, or if you play for the enjoyment of playing the game.
For myself, I've played STFs for the enjoyment of challenge and engaging in the actions within the STFs. I'd do them even if I didn't get any rewards (though it's nice to make succeeding have rewards), just to challenge myself and fly my ship/engage my character against the toughest parts of the game.
However, I know I am probably unusual in that regard, and many other players only see their STO gameplay as a gain-loss equation. As I am not of that mentality, I couldn't say if STFs would be worth it for them, as it would depend on what they were trying to collect, and what they consider worthwhile.
Personally I think they are trying to prepare everyone for removal of the STFs (at least the 3 originals). And a slow progression toward a different set, a wider ranging set also, of missions.
STFs were heavy on the DIL - do a night of Elites and you would easily hit your 8K daily refine limit. BUT since they were heavy on the DIL - I think it increased the PUGs and AFKers in them just looking for a quick dil drop.
Change is well change, not many people embrase change well, in any setting, game or real life. This change requires you to change the way you play the game. Does it suck? sure, until you learn to adapt. And if you're willing to put in the effort to make that adaptation, which is really the essence of Star Trek, you will be rewarded.
I was/am mostly a solo player. I have a fleet, and I do team up with them, but often I don't know how long I will be able to be actively in game, so not to drag anyone down I don't often team. So prior to S7 I was finding it increasingly difficult to aquire 8K DIL in 4 hours of off and on play.
Coming into S7 - I was concerned it would be even more difficult. However, when analyzing the situation and looking at all of my options, I was handsomely pleased to find out how much DIL I would aquire in short game play. Much like the great amounts of fleet marks you can aquire in short quick missions like Colony Invasion and Starbase Incursion.
I played off and on last night for about 3-4 hours and I netted ~15K DIL. I didn't play 1 STF, and I also played a Colony Invasion, Starbase Incursion, and the new Space Romulan Marks one - can't remember the name, but you save ships from Tholians. So in 3-4 Hours, I have enough Dil for 8K refinement cap, I contributed Fleet Marks, and I have Romulan Marks, only thing missing were Omega Marks, of which I could have easily spent a few minutes getting quickly and given up some of the over 8K dil runs I did.
I'm not saying it's going to be EASY to accomplish everything in game - but I think that's the point, it shouldn't be EASY to have everything. There has to be sacrifice for rewards - the better you are at mitigating the sacrifice and easier the reward. Give S7 a chance, more than 1-2 days, before you say it's good or bad. I'm still on the fence on a few issues, but I'm not sure the DIL changes are as BAD as everyone is making them out to be.
contact me in game if you'd be interested in any DIL aquiring techniques for the new S7, or would like to team up for any missions @franc275
TBH it actually gives the old fleet actions a purpose now since you get purple drops for coming in 1st place. So in my perspective it's either do i want a omega marks or purple gea (i.e. Fleet Actions or STFs).
We're adding additional loot drops to all high-rank NPCs. This includes Captains on the Ground, and Battleships and Dreadnaughts in Space. All of these NPCs will now have a very high chance (I believe it's 80%+) of dropping a green-or-better piece of level-appropriate gear.
Given the number of high-rank enemies you face in an average STF, you should end up walking away with a good haul of decent-to-wonderful loot to either equip, or sell for EC.
These changes were just made this week, and didn't make it into this morning's maintenance cycle. It's likely they will show up next week, though they may stir on Tribble for a bit before coming to Holodeck.

Yeah. That said, I think Breaking the Planet should give a token amount of fleet marks as well.

Good to hear. Not a fan of fleet actions because of the competitiveness for the prize (eng cruisers never gonna win, so why bother?), so having a source from somewhere is good.

Level appropriate gear, as in MKXI or MKXII? I have to ask because, honestly, with the addition of the Fleet stores and relative ease to obtain exceptional MKXII gear most drops are barely worth more then recycling them once you obtain a decent set of gear.
Although the Dilithium currency is in good shape, the same cannot be said for EC. Most of the high ticket items on the exchange come from lock boxes and the market for endgame drops is limited at best. It might be time to give it a review.
Wow, putting the loot and the Dillithium back in the STF with the new guarantee for finally gettnig the MK XII gear is more that I ever hoped for.
I'm speechless...

Seems like you guys are ironing out the kinks in all of my initial complaints. Fantastic work. I'm actually really enjoying this seasons outlook now.
I guess my frustration with the lack of loot is that it really decreases my EC income. I'm geared enough that I only splurge on larger more rare items, etc. However, this income decrease makes me less likely to buy materials, doffs, etc. necessary for starbase and embassy progression. I can still afford it, I just choose not to - so I can save for bigger and better things.
I think others in my fleet have similar feelings, as last night was one of the first times we didn't have just about all of the current projects ready to complete / in progress.
These extra drops could help, but IMO the EC economy could use some help.

Thanks for the reply bort. My concern is that the green drops will be worthless to convert to ec. Any chance of them being blue as a minimum like u used to get in drops and optionals for elite stfs? Or.. Normal stfs min of green, Elites would be min of blues? Also will purple mk xii be in the loot table or not is a wonder as well, could this be talked about possibly?

Fleet Actions are not based purely on DPS anymore and there are participation categories.
First Place is not ONE spot that everyone competes for and I think you could theoretically get it based on healing. Maybe even damage taken.

I would agree with this.
I've come as high as second place sometimes, and as a support cruiser my dps is not that hot - I'm sure it comes from all the hull and shield heals I use on other players.

Thank you .
Considering how much Blue loot I sold at relatively unchanging prices in the last years , there is clearly a demand in game for such a supply .
My question is -- how will this loot show up and how will we claim it ?
Need/Greed or random drops per kill ?

Not sure about "a good haul" , but we'll have to see .
Well about fleet actions, my tac in a mobius always comes out 1 or 2 so..... and i can sometime get 1 or 2 in my eng/escort too. But i also would like to know are these lvl appriate drops mk xi or mk xii? This does make a huge difference, weither grinding the gear for use or EC.
Pffft...I have NUMEROUS trophys and used a Cruiser on all of the space ones...yes...Escort Captains were making appointments with their ship Counslers for...WTF just happened...syndrome...:)
Nerfing the Fleet Actions is not the answer...the answer is...Fight harder, if you are NOT a Tac Captain in an Escort.
I have proof...they are hanging on my walls...:)
