U.S.S Houston needs to be less of a problem (aggro borg cubes etc). Why is it not the U.S.S. Derperprise? The Federation's Ultramarines...

Nope, didn't even know I had to prepare for Isocharge...

Just my standard anti Borg set up. MACO set (granted, it's Mk XII), and 2 Electroceramic hull plating against Plasma damage. Not even a kinetic absorbing armor.

I might have been lucky not to get hit by Isocharge jumps, I don't know... but then i was trying to get a bit distance when she targeted me...

Yes it was my first time and I did elite.... Ive done every other one on elite... so might as wel do this one that way.

Yep... there are 6 tactical cubes. They dont aggro... so if you only pull one you can kill them about the same as ISE or KASE... but theres still 6 of them... and they each have a guard of 2 spheres. Too much.

Yes... I know about the lances not firing if youre close to the Queen's ship... doesnt help when you spawn 25km away.

Also not that this had any effect on the mission... but the U.S.S. Houston buggered off about half way through the tac cube fight... and several of the cubs, upon engaging them flew off in a giant circle before coming back to the Queen's ship.

1: Never First-Time-Elite. The first time you did Infected, or Cure, it probably wasn't on Elite (whether or not it was the old version or new doesn't matter). Doing Normal gives you an idea of what Elite will be.

2: Spheres aren't hard if you focus them on Elite. After that, a lone Tac Cube isn't an issue.

3: The spawn point didn't matter to me. What, did you have post-mortem aggro? Otherwise it shouldn't be an issue at all.

4: What do you mean, "buggered off"? Did the Houston de-spawn? Did it fly to the other side of the map? As for the Cubes... I think they were doing a rain dance to appease the Queen. XD

Also, I'm more upset about the lack of rewards now that I remembered that my team completed ALL of the optionals. Part One? Curb-stomped that fleet ing half the time. Part Two: Came close to failing, but didn't. Queen fight? The optional was to keep at least one alive, and at worst we only had one DEAD. We beat that handedly, and no one got TRIBBLE.

It being on Elite the first time wasnt an issue. I can handle Elite. I knew what to do once I read the briefings.

Spheres arent hard no... and I can take them down fairly quick. Doesnt change the fact that they are there... (why are they there? Is 6 tac cubes not enough?)

No post mortem aggro... but when the whole team wipes you have to approach the unimatrix vessels again... meaning they get to use their lances again.

Buggered off as in flew off. In my ran I last saw it steaming away from the Queen on plasma fire. Never saw it after that.

1: Still, common sense says normal first, but you do whatever you want.

2: Apparently, no, probably because in KASE it wasn't even a boss fight, it was a first mob. But, I can see why you'd want the spheres removed. It DOES seem a touch excessive.

3: Oh, you got wiped. I suppose that would be a problem. But then, if I'm not on my tank, I make sure someone ELSE charges into weapons range face-first. If I AM on my tank... well, it's kind of my job to run in face-first.

4: Huh. And I thought NPCs were stupid. Looks like they grew common sense, am I right? XD All joking aside, I don't think its too relevant. It blows up in the cutscene anyway.

Okay so i've been able to play it in elite, we won it quite easily considering that we had two rookies constantly dying and with poor builds in our team. At last some challenge for my endgame escorts! I died 4 times, and two times it was because I stayed too close from an enemy.

Build: Sci on escort (mobius), wells ship console, disruptor and the thermonic torpedo (making mobs rather inoffensive when fired on heavy mode btw).

The first part with the 6 tac cubes is easy. The USS huston does all the job. I'd consider removing him in elite gameplay. We're queuing for a challenge, not for a mob taking all the aggro while we quietely kill elite cubes aren't we? :P

The second stage with the two cigares is truely epic! I love the need to run away from/destroy the plasma bolts - they are really slow and this is fairly achievable as long as you pay attention to something else than pressing space bar like mad. Regen probes are quite weak, they can't really annoy us, even our average team had enough dps not to feel the need to destroy them. Tractor probes were just wandering around and not really tracting anyone. Why were they here?

By the way the safe spot is right under the v'ger, in the middle of it (0km). You can take some AOE shots but you'll never get hurt badly.

The queen's ship had a lot of powers, but it was rather weak so it wasn't an issue. I've been surprised by an AOE torp one shot (you could just upgrade the beam damage of this mob instead of making it a mini donatra) but once you know it you can avoid it. I noticed a tactical team (which is good), but she had almost no shields. And still no serious heals on an endgame boss. :P

To conclude: I love it! Some good challenge, especially with the cigares part. I've also been able to use my SNB in pve content, anf this might be my favourite part of this STF! It could be improved a bit to make a truely elite mission when we play it on elite, but at least we have some fresh meat to play with our new endgame OP ships.

Bonus: new voiceovers. They are pretty nice and welcome. I'm a bit tired of the old ones. And the cutscene was appropriate.

Yea, the Houston is supposed to be destroyed by the Plasma Lances right there. So, the Houston leaving must bug the cutscene. That's why, after you kill the Queen's ship (SPOILERS!), you scan for escape pods and rescue Admiral D'vak.

Played it on Elite, and got no rewards (no omega marks and no processor).

Bunch of elite cubes: That was fun!

V'ger ships: When the 2 V'ger ships appeared, I was killed at some point and I got a system message telling me that if I stayed close to the Queen Diamond I wouldn't be shot that hard, but tbh I did not notice any difference (got shot with torpedo spreads, etc when close to the queen ship anyway).

Diamond ship: I was OK with most of it, just think that the torpedo spread should be toned down a bit so it stops 1-shot killing players. Everything else seemed fine, including the 5km green cloud of death.

Overall, this one was really fun (even with all the 1-shot torp spread deaths)!

PS: Ohhh, almost forgot. There is a bug that sometimes stops your ship from steering after you respawn from a death. This happens both in Holodeck and Tribble.

I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. The mission itself seems like nothing special at first (basically "go kill queen guards and then the queen herself"), but I like how enemy placement and variety encourage teamwork, including aggro'ing and tanking.

Done this on elite and the only real issue I had was the 1shot-KO Iso Charge from the diamond. I tried to run away, being the only survivor, and suddenly I just exploded with nearly full shields and HP, only to see in the combat log that the iso charge did over ~65000 (~100000) dmg to me, just like that. This needs to be tuned down a bit.

Aside from that it was fun and I think it is very much doable with all the optionals in a good team. Please Cryptic, do us all a favour and keep it challenging like that, and do not nerf it so that every player and their mother could do it in 5min, like you can with every other space STF on holodeck...

As for bugs - no loot whatsoever. One player who scanned for D'Vak's escape pod got the Borg Neural Processor, but noone else did.

I just has a great time in the mission [elite] - it's great balanced and much fun to play .... then we reached the borg queen - wich was hard, but not impossible - but at one point - all guys had been dead - i fled with evasive manouver and was more than 20 km away from her - she instandly came to me with unnatural speed and onehittet me with ... honestly - i haven't seen it comming - i just was dead - and then the queen resettet with full life and full shields. (she was down to 12%)

till that point we had been fighting her for more than 40minutes and the result was: everyone left diappointed...

this really should not happen. no reset for the boss, not as long as she cheats that much!

Played on normal in a Ody Sci with all Ody consoles, as an Engineer(tank). The opening battle was fine, but I found the two cylinder ships guarding the queen to have a ridiculous range. I re-spawned after a death and almost immediately after leaving the spawn point i simply blew up. Don't know what hit me.

Also, I feel the queen's ship is slightly over powered. This queen seems to be tougher than three Tac Cubes plus Donatra.

    On Elite:
Overall good implimentation of ELITE dificulty.

    normal should be toned down.

Elite should have thr removal of all instapops. Make torp spread just fire TARGETETABLEheavy torps at everyone. REMOVE ISO CHARGE!

    Just remove it.

Just did Enter the Hive (ELITE) for the first time. Got to say it was WAY TOO EASY. Seriously, it is easy.

Tactical Cube Cluster: This was obviously made for DPS.

All you have to do is pull the Tacticals 1 at a Time and you can beat the time.

B'Vger Twins: Obviously made for Endurance with Cruiser Tanking.

Just like the DSE, keep pounding on one side and kill the Regen Probes. Weak Spot on Top and Below.

The Queen: Just stay out of the 5km AoE (Ultra Aceton Assimlator Blast), fire from long range, and run off to repair. That's it.

That's why I think this was too easy, especially when doing this in less than 15 minutes.

IMHO, would've been better to have it more like a Fleet Action, where you move forward and getting hit by waves of ships in trying to deter you from advancing towards the end of the map than having the Queen just park there like nothing happened and summoning B'gers. And do something with the Unimatrix Buildings, like a Borg version of the Tholian Net, by "Trapping" you in a net, and you got to find a way out of it. But it's random so it would be different every time.
Rewards are in flux! Don't be surprised if you get no marks for the mission during this release!

    Houston, that is Confirmed. ;)

Just played Elite... Oww. Near instant via Torps of doom kills out the back end, though I think part of that is me needing better tactics (I survived one volley by doing some adjustments). I'm envious of your run azurianstar, people started leaving after the first total party kill against the Queen.

My system slowly dropped FPS as the battle went on, until it was single digits and stuttering with the UI up, but 40+ and smooth with UI off (Alt-F12). I kept turning things down and the only thing that seemed to help turning off as many damage indicators as I could (couldn't turn some off). But, I'm on an un-supported OS(Linux), so it may be a glitch with how WINE handles things, but the map on Normal worked well.

    Four runs. All on Normal.

Ran all four on an engineer.

    1) Make a graphics pass over the "lance" beams and the mid mission cut-scene.

    2) Tone down the torp-spreads just a bit.

    3) Queen ship needs to reduce the use of feedback pulse or whatever she was pinging me with, those white pulses. Is an ok power but the uptime on her ship was close to "cheating" level.

Overall, pretty fantastic. Can't wait until this goes live...

Going back over what happened in the last Elite in my mind, the player that lasted the longest typically was in an RSV. The torps seem to be fairly normal, being that shields stopped most of the damage, but there were just so many that it ate through my Armitage's shield facing and then my hull very fast. A high shield mod ship should be able to take them a lot better. However, the RSV couldn't deal much damage against the Queen ship. If only that RSV had Dual Heavy Cannons and giant Phaser that shot out of it's deflector... ;)

I'd like to see some Elite runs, particularly good ones, if anyone puts any up on Youtube.

One request to Cryptic: make the spawn a no fly zone... After the first attempt at Zerging it (bad idea), two cubes and 4 or more Spheres ended up flying into the spawn zone, quickly killing most of us. We ended up having to Buff and run as soon we spawned to draw off the Borg group.

Hit Esc when this happens. It's some sort of target locking feature gone awry from what I can tell (when my ship is not moving, my ship will point at the target as it moves).

Lots of times when the tac cubes seem to get stuck on stuff, sometimes preventing them from being targeted.

Loving the need to bring along healing and sub-nukes in PvE content! :D

Another thought; make sure to give the Unimatrix ships & Tac cubes a decent Power Insulators score, otherwise the tactic of choice will be to simply get two dedicated energy drain / siphon carriers and shut down the ships before killing them since NPCs are completely helpless against energy drain attacks.

BIG PROBLEM: It can become impossible to target the regen probes when they are too close to the unimatrix ships, making controlling them difficult. You click on them, and nothing happens; you target the unimatrix ship instead.

I think that the concept of the mission is cool. The mission starts out well balanced and challenging. Then comes the Queen. It's satisfying to fight her, but she is way too overpowered. Perhaps they wanted to challenge the way overpowered players with something to match them, but it's way to much for the usual player, even on normal.

Given that there's no timer on the Queen fight the best strategy for getting the optional there on Normal is to just kill her with 4 chars while the 5th sits in a corner well away from battle cooling their heels. Might want to incentivize all players getting involved at that stage, regardless of the chance or the whole team getting one-shot ISO'd.

In cool down waiting to respawn on elite. I think this mission is doable with some interface corrections.

First, and surely this is known, the lack of control at spawn is killing us. Even when we respawn we can't join the fight till our conn officer gets out of the latrine.

Second, and probably the most important, is targeting. We need to be able to select the target masked by another ship's frame. Many times the targets are unselectable because they are hidden by another ship, but we have LOS. Common with regens hiding on the horizon of a unimatrix. "Next target" button cycles through all the pre-debris on the map before we get the target of choice.

Third, auto targeting is acting a fool. While targeting a plasma ball of death, running for my life, the beams start firing at a probe that meanders in the way or near the ball of unhappy greetings.

Finally, Tac Cubes are parallel parking. The Tac cubes are trying to mate with all the structures on the map and it makes them untargetable regardless of facing.

My fleet mates are all excited about having to actually balance out a team to conquer this thing, and on our first elite attempt it was a lot of fun, with only intermittent cursing over the mic. I anticipate a lot of PUG rage when this comes out, but don't dumb it down. Make winning elite options a real challenge. We just don't lose them in an organized team any more, it is clock work. All the spit and teeth flying past the view screen rocks.

I played this on normal to get a feel for the mission and I have to say, I very much enjoyed it. I will try it on elite when it comes out as well! I think the mission was pretty well balanced. It's a little bit more difficult than the other STFs currently offered and I think it fits the story well (it is the Borg queen's lair afterall!) and the added challenge from greater difficulty means strategy (gasp!) is actually needed to succeed. My team worked together well and we didn't have too much trouble with deaths (we were all in escorts). With brace for impact active I took hardly any damage from a heavy torpedo spread. I anticipate it would be much greater in elites but no more difficult than Donatra's spreads.
On a more general note, I do very much appreciate the built in time at the beginning of the mission to read a mission summary. Yeah it gets tiresome after the first few times but hey, for the people who actually care about how to properly run a mission it helps a great deal. Even if most people skip by it and ignore the suggestions it gives you a chance to learn what to do before the fighting starts.

During my Elite round, the group I was with we ended up unable to finish it. We kept getting one shotted between the Plasma Bolt and the Plasma Lance. I think we get the picture that the borg are 'superior' but using the nuke option (644,000 damage) is a little excessive imo.

[Combat (Self)] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 644417 (949517) Kinetic Damage to you with Plasma Energy Bolt Explosion.

[Combat (Self)] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 188045 (291296) Plasma Damage to you with Plasma Lance.

[Combat (Self)] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 165921 (273899) Plasma Damage to you with Plasma Lance.

-- The Plasma Energy Bolt seems to have a fast reload time.. Seemed faster than the Unimatrix in the Borg Sector alerts.

--For the love of God please get rid of the stupid respawn penalty. It serves no purpose except to make the players more frustrated.

--Invisible loot drops. All I see is a popup to collect loot but no Icon seen in space to let you know.

--Played a round on normal and got no Omega Marks.
--Queen in normal round is tougher for normal imo.
--IF there's is suppose to be any sort of dilithium and loot at the end--there wasn't. And if it's been taken out--bring it back. Otherwise--what reason would i have to play STF's when i get all my Omega Reputation maxed out. Which I will when things get converted.
--No optional loot that I saw.. Again, there should be if its been taken out. The point of the option is obtain using team work. Not rewarding the 'team' for working extra hard is plain STUPID...

--The optional timer is set for 10mins (instead of 15min). Whereas all the other STF's (elite or normal) were set at 15mins. Is this purposeful??

Seeing as this STF is much harder, at least on Elite, than the others, requiring craziness like proper team healing for PvE content, are the rewards going to be extra-shiny? If not, I see this STF getting neglected due to it's difficulty, which would really be a shame.
