I think Aegis needs a buff now. All the end game sets are pretty much stomping on all that Aegis is and its kind of annoying. I propose we get a Doff Assignment or something of the sort that can make Aegis into Advanced Aegis Mk XII.
Shield should be a Cap X3 Reg X2.
Engine should have a driver coil upper that makes warp a little faster.
Deflector should be a Positron with [Shds] [EM] [Sif]
Set 2 should be a nice hull heal resistance
set 3 should be sort of a adaptive resistance for shields and make all energy types take less damage. Including Hybrid weapons.
Remove it from the game.
Granted we'll see a torrent of tears but to expect the model T of sets to compete with the latest evolution of sets is forward thinking looking backwards
It needs to be buffed or there needs to be an endgame equivalent to it. Seriously its getting annoying having good things that suck at endgame hence my proposal.
The Aegis set is one of the most visually appealing sets...
The truth of this statement is unquestionable in my mind.
The Aegis set is one of (if not the) best looking sets in the game.
It is a terrible disservice that it is not actually an endgame set since most of this game these days is "end game".
If anything, the Aegis should be part of the revised crafting system.
Have the parts to upgrade drop in certain events (rarely), have it bound upon completion, and have level requirements and presto.
I can live with that. I have no desire to see any kind of attachment to STFs or whatnot. Of course I'm getting into my rant about how I should be able to get any set, even if it is 10 times harder for me alone. So I'll stop there.
Aside from that, this would be a good chance for the return of the Delta Flyer crafting mission, just changed for this item. 10 for the MK XI Blue upgrade, 15 for the MK XII Blue upgrade and 20 for the MK XII Purple upgrade.

In short i've upgraded the varuious stats across the board for more useful levels. I also gave people the much asked for >Warp 10 capability.
Would be nice to have an upgraded Aegis set, at the moment im using an Aegis 2 piece with the MACO shields on my Galor, its not bad actually - had to look at other things since the news about the Borg set.
Ive gone from having the Hull and Shield regen from the 3 part Borg set to having +10% defence as well as the bonuses from Deflector/Engine, also going up from 14,500 shields to 15,100 (drop from 51k to 49k hull though, boo hiss)
Its a set that does need a lil bit more love and attention from the devs.
Before this thread gets too carried away, I wanted to chime in on the subject...
The Aegis Set is obtained via Crafting. It always has been, and always will be.
While we're open to taking feedback on the stats and bonuses of the existing gear (let's call it the Aegis Mk XI Set, for simplicity), no new versions are likely to be introduced until we revisit the Crafting system as a whole.
And even then, I wouldn't expect this set to ever be exactly on-par with the STF sets. It's intended to be good enough to last most players until they can obtain Mk XI Omega sets. A few specific builds may get more life out of it, but that's a niche sort of thing.

This smacks as another "play as intended" comment. So what it is attained via crafting? It's still only a mk x set in reality. Why NOT make it viable at endgame? Why limit the players to a handful of builds?

That brings the issue to the issue of you can tell a vast difference between ground sets but in all honesty there is no real benefit between having a x xi or xii stf set they are pretty much the same you just get a pinch added here and there that doesn't justify its rarity of a drop. So I am guessing instead of establishing space sets to give their what you guys call "prestige" its just going to be a bunch of new grinds to collect that gear that really isnt worth going after if you already have a mk x stf space set.
Again, like with the jem and breen sets, you get STF gear so fast that the priod of usefulness for this is zero. For what it takes to get it you'll have outleveled it and have better within the tinniest amount of IRL time. SImply put ANY set that's not upto STF level isn;t worth using. Becuase there's no non-STF sets you can aquire significatnly earlier.
EDIT: Also anyone in a fleet with T3 or above ha acess to better gear as well.
EDIT: Also anyone in a fleet with T3 or above ha acess to better gear as well.
My fleet certainly isn't T3.
I used Aegis until I got my Mk XI MACO, just like BorticusCryptic says above. I was able to get it almost immediately upon reaching lvl 50, without any grind other than Dilithium, which I'd already earned by leveling up. Seems to me that it did its job. What more do you want?
Is this just about the kick-butt Tron look? Maybe we should ask for that to be a ship Material option then, instead of having it tied to gear?

Except that you could, (and from what we understand still will), be able to get a far supiriour borg set for a day or twos work.
getting an Aegeis set is a week or mores work because of the Dil/EC costs. In that time you will certinalyl be onto MACO/OMEGA with the new system, and probably would have been with the old system.

i really dont like this ideology, everyone of these sets should be viable at end game. what does that say about normal equipment? why bother making it in mkX-XII?
the aegis deflector and engine are fine, better then maco imo, at least the engine is hyper and you get +10 defense from them, very nice. but the shields is terrible, its a blue quality mkX cov with cap+2 and a tiny amount of extra shields power. i suggest cap2, reg2 or cap2, +10 energy resistance like maco.
thats all the set needs. this set is supposed to be a counterpart to the borg set, and the borg set is still basically king. so aegis should be closer to its level, and not so far behind. its 1 thing fro breen and jemhadar to be training wheels, but this was a former premium set.
Even if it was free, if i cna get5 somthing markedly better for a ay or two's work it's still usless
So long as there's no requierment to run one of the lower sets to have a chance at getting your OMEGA marks to get you your STF gear there's simply no use for them becuase the alternatives are so cheap.
And thats before we mention the fact that their are equally good engines and better sheilds avalibile from crafting or drops. The set bonusus and the really good deflector are the only things the set actually has in it's favour.
...obtained via Crafting... I wouldn't expect this set to ever be exactly on-par with the STF sets. It's intended to be good enough to last most players until they can obtain Mk XI Omega sets...
So you are forcing us to do STF? Can i simple have my Liftetime-Sub. Money back...
No Romulans, time gated content, forced into specific content.
Thats not the direction Cryptic promised, back then i bought it...
If you don't run end-game content, why do you think you need or deserve end-game quality gear? Do you even recognize how ridiculous you sound?
Yeah i'll agree with this.
No one was suggesting that we shouldn;t have top work as hard for it. I mean sure if we have to wait till next season for a general federation reputation, ior similar), to get it, wlel thats ok. I don;t mind having to go through the same level of hoop jumping for the set. i just don't think there's any point to it as is becuase you can grind out better gear fairly quickly.
... I'm not sure it's worth posting. But here goes:
Why not do what other games have done?
Have Aegis upgrades tied to other content.
So, for example, a Mk XII upgrade that uses an Elite STF drop like Elite Omega Marks?
Maybe to differentiate it, require something like Aegis Mk X, 10 Elite Omega Marks, dilithium, and a Romulan schematic available for T5 Romulan people. (Or maybe just as a Romulan project that uses 10 OEFM, dil, and the Mk X version.)
Simple explanation. The Aegis technology has design limitations that the Borg have overcome. The Romulans know more about installing and retrofitting Borg technology. The upgraded version has a teal Tron glow.
I dunno. There are probably reasons why that would never work. I give.

could do with some love thats for sure. i would have thought it could easily go from x to xi to xii via crafting+doffs
what if some doff assingments took it from x -xi needing some componemts that can be crafted.
then to go from xi-xii with some extra componets needed for a doff assingment which are obtained from the new embassy/reputation system?
I crafted an Aegis Engine recently on a new character, working towards that goal from level 1. Five days later I had the full Borg set.
That's the problem I think, there's just not enough time to use it. I went from lvl 40-45 without playing a single episode, just my doff assignments and a few daily missions used to obtain dilithium pushed me up there in roughly 3 days. So the engine, despite all the work I put into crafting it, was not really ever put to much use. And now, there's not really anything else left to craft either.
Comments
Other than that, all for it.
Granted we'll see a torrent of tears but to expect the model T of sets to compete with the latest evolution of sets is forward thinking looking backwards
Instead of removing it, remove ALL sets from the game for balance and rework to level XII.
