With everything seeming to come out in lockboxs now, am I the only one who is beginning to wonder if what we have in the store is all there will ever be? Esp with the wells now being used as master key bait, are the days of just being able to buy something without gambling over?
Yeah, it's not like they didn't have a ship, a uniform, some overpriced EV suits, and fleet related items released on the C-store since the last lockbox launched, plus two ships, a shuttle, and a doff pack between that one and the previous one. Nothing at all since the first lockbox.

Vesta will be C store. also did we already forget the Regent came out not too long ago, and before that the Armitage class. It has not been that long since a C store ship came out.
As I remember hearing it, the plan was to get 1 new C-Store ship out every 6-8 weeks. They also try to get out 1-2 Uniform Packs per month, and several smaller items like Tribbles, Pets, DOFF Packs, Shuttles, etc.
As far as upcoming ships, we have the Andorian ship, the Merian, the Vesta Class, and the Ambassador Class forthcoming - the Ambassador is supposed to be an Event ship but I assume there will be C-Store version as well, like the Odyssey.
I generally manage to spend 1,000 to 3,000 Zen per month in the C-Store.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Pretty soon we'll see exclusive forum access being made into a lock box prize. What's more, to post a response, we'll have to spend 1 lobi crystal and to create a new thread, you'll have to spend 5 lobi. I'm so excited by the prospect of this new system it sounds chills down my spine.
Edit: While I don't condone the lock box ships, it wouldn't be terribly bad if they released one every 3 months. However, I don't want to see a lock box ship getting released so frequently that c-store ship releases seem scarce. I also don't like all of the fanfare surrounding these lockbox ships when the real fanfare should be around FE's and c-store releases related to events.

Very True
If only they could put something new in there when the new lock box is launched it might not Seem that way

so a cute skin for some existing ships, some over priced junk (ev suits) and the fleet stuff they are shoving down our throats and calling good... oh and we all need another shuttle we can hardly use anyway... nope your totally right what was I thinking, I mean with all that, who the hell wants a galor or marader or any of those other actually useful ships or items?
Folks angry there isn't enough stuff in the Cstore. Hilarious.
In a way yes I am angry, I don't believe in gambling so I am not allowed to support a game I enjoy playing unless I buy random useless cosmetic junk...
What makes me sad is that these cool future uniforms (temporal agent and 29th century) are only available from the Lobi Store. I can accept fluff like merchant jackets to be there but genuine uniforms?
The optimist in me still hopes to see the 29th century uniform in the C-Store.

I think it should be rarer than that. And, honestly, I'd be stunned if you couldn't get it on the exchange for 10-20 million EC.

Same! That was the most recent craptastic decision Cryptic/PWE has made other than yet again being wrong about when the Vesta will be released. September is over as of Monday morning and still no Vesta! )=
Lockboxes are being saved for ships which CBS wants to deem as rare. So if they want the Dauntless to be rare in the game it will go into a Lockbox. Gecko even stated that the T5 Connie might only be allowed into the game via a Lockbox.
I personally don't believe Uniforms should go into the Lobi Store, but the Store does need low-cost items for people to spend smaller amounts of Lobi on. Costume pieces tend to fit that bill.

Oh, but if they did that, too many people would be buying ships instead of keys. But I agree. Releasing a comparable zen store ship alongside the lock boxes would make it seem less like we are having the waved in our faces. And the people who want a new ship but don't want to "gamble" for it, can get one. That'll never happen, though.
And to everyone saying they have been releasing zen store ships at a balanced pace, are you serious? The Armitage and Regent are the only two ships to come out in several months and they are both for Starfleet only. Meanwhile, the lock boxes and lobi store get a total of 6 full size ships, not to mention the mirror ones and shuttles. These include the only new ships for KDF players in over 6 months. They could be putting a lot more stuff on the zen store than they are. They just choose not to.
Fleet ships don't count. Most of them are simply reskins and reworkings of existing ships. And only a handful of them are worth getting, considering what they cost per toon.

I understand. Generally, I am okay with that practice, esp. concerning alien starships (Cardassian, Tholian, etc.). However, I am not so happy about the fact that this includes genuine faction ships from Starfleet and KDF (the T5 Constitution being the exception from that opinion).

General, civilian and alien costume pieces would be okay with me, but not standard issue Starfleet uniforms (although, the time traveller suit is not exactly Starfleet issue).
My understanding is that anything that makes sense for us to have ingame will be C-Store or available through some ingame method. Anything that makes absolutely no sense for us to have will be available through lockboxes or lobi store.
However, I am not so happy about the fact that this includes genuine faction ships from Starfleet and KDF (the T5 Constitution being the exception from that opinion).
How do we know that these are genuine faction ships from the 29th Century? Star Trek's future has been so messed up that they might not even exist in the 29th Century, but a possible 29th Century. Besides I consider genuine faction ships to be something that a faction has built not something that might be built in the future.

The 29th century was not depicted as a possible, alternate future but as a definitive one. All other futures where subject to change but the people of this one went great lengths to ensure their timeline would remain stable.
On the other hand, Star Trek - Department of Temporal Investigations: Watching the Clock by Christopher L. Bennett said, this 29th century would be the genuine future - but only for timelines where the Borg were wiped out by 2400. By that logic, the future of STO may be different.
In spite of that: Those future ships are Federation starships, assigned to Starfleet and Klingons. They are as faction-genuine as possible.

I prefer to think of them as a Temporal Faction - a segment of Starfleet that operates independently of the whole, much like Section 31.
And since Klingons are part of Starfleet by the 26th Century it's more likely the ship designs reflect the shipyard building them rather then being Fed or KDF. The Korath was probably built at a Klingon Shipyard, and thus has a Klingon design even though it's part of the Temporal Faction within Starfleet.

Yeah, I'm also sure the Klingons are still part of the Federation by 2800 (unless, they secede at some point). In spite of that, it makes sense for them to have their own ships, too - like the Vulcans (D'Kyr), Humans (NX) and Caitians (Carrier) have.

Yup, now go get your 29th century ship that comes from an organization which has the explicit purpose of stopping timeline corruption.

it is how they get cannon stuff into game
How is giving a non-canon, time traveling ship to players in the 25th century defined as "cannon stuff"?

Canon Starfleet issue as Lock Box/Lobi Store only... Well, as has been said - there's at least the Exchange.
What's next? Probably the 26th century Universe-class will also end up as Lock Box item. And the Dauntless class.
