Temporal Missions Bugged?

azurianstarazurianstar Member Posts: 6,985 Arc User
I managed to get a couple of Temporal DOFF missions from the Lockbox with my stripend (hey you gotta manage when you have no money), and both these missions were total failures.

Whats odd, I had the Very Rare Officers with the Right Traits and didn't even show any chance of failure. Yet, here I am. Both of them failures and it really feels like those two Lockbox Keys I spent my savings on, was a total failure.

So mind looking into this?

Well, congratulations. I know others who got their blues and purple DOFFs too. But it's not exactly fair that some of us get the short end of the stick with nothing to show for it. Especially those of us who have no money to splurge.

Especially when you use up your monthly stripend and get nothing for your return but disappointment. And when the Stripend is all you got at a chance, its extra bitter sweet.

Sorry, don't see the punchline when it's poking fun at someone's misfortune.

When you spend money in this game, you should get something in return, not an empty tray. Else it would be gambling and therefore illegal.

Are there any Purples in the list as me and a few other people have crit'ed the assignments and got Blues only as well as a lot of junk whites on a success.

Ive given up doing these as a bad job unfortunetly as i have seen very little value in them (for my EC and for increasing and enhancing my roster)

You played the lock box game that Cryptic created for the soul purpose of getting you to keep playing the lock box game... and you expected fairness? They don't know how to balance anything, but they know how to milk their customers. I'm no fan of this "business model" but it's just another gambling sob story.

If your plea can fix this then more power to you. But the only real way to keep from getting burned is to stop playing:(.

May not actually be "way" cooler or even "slightly" cooler.

I've heard that there are purples you can get. But my only mission attempt was a failure(moderate success).

BTW there's a lot of beacons on the exchange for 300k each.... if you don't want to buy keys....

One kinda buggy thing is that these missions apparently don't take up a slot.

These assignments should not be failable, though there are 3 levels of success available. You should always walk away with something.

    I'll look into this.

Also, I was told there's a bug with the slotting on the Medical assignment, and will be correcting that shortly. If anyone notices other errors with these, please post them here.

Because it was slotted at some time in the past when you had an unused slot.

It seems that the reward variables on these assignments are set lower than I'd intended. They'll all be receiving an improvement on the amount of CXP that is rewarded, even with only a Moderate Success outcome.

Is it intended that a critical can result in a blue doff?

I have critted 3 times so far with 1 Purple and 2 Blue prizes.

My best guess as to the loot table is:

    moderate:
    Xp

    success:
    xp
    green or white doff

    Critical:
    xp
    purple or blue doff.

EDIT: Thanks for looking into it Borticus!

    One minor correction:
    moderate:
    Xp

    success:
    xp
green or white doff ... and a very small chance at a blue or purple

    Critical:
    xp
    purple or blue doff.

I know, but you know it's would be nice to actually win something nice for once. And when you have nothing but bad luck throughout your life, there is a point you have to believe luck will strike sooner or later or else... well I you can know what I'm about to say.

I got the item from the lock box to do the "Lend Assistance to USS Defiant Descendants at Gaia Colony". When I queued up the mission, it showed what doffs I could use and also said I did not have the right doffs. I assigned two quartermasters to the mission. It said that I would get a Doff as a reward. When the mission completed, it completed with the status of "Moderate Success". I only got 397 Colonial xp. I never got the doff that was listed as a reward before I did the mission. I can get more than that from doing doff missions. Since I only got 397 xp, I consider that key a complete waste of money. I doubt I will do that again.

That is what I think is causing the most confusion on these missions. There is no fail, but there are 3 levels of success with only the two higher levels giving a Doff. The DOff missions have always showed what a basic success will give, in this cause, a DOff and some CXP. A moderate sucess is the lowest level for this mission and is the same as a failed mission of the other DOff missions, thus you don't get what is shown in the rewards section when starting the mission.

since the temporal lock boxes have come out I have been getting repeatign loops during battles, where my ship or player is pulled back to an earlier point. In addition during ship battles each loop adds another attacker and I get toasted in seconds. Can this be fixed. It is hard to play when you have no control over your players actions. I have not yet opened any temporal boxes .

I do not know if this is a bug but I am going to assume it is.
I did the Temporal Colonial Mission which resulted with Critical Success. I was rewarded a 'Blue Doctor Martha Jones Smith' with Resolve, Congenial, Emotional, and Honorable traits.

I guess i'm confused as to a 'Special temporal Mission' would reward a regular blue Doctor on Crit success. Shouldn't it have been a special purple Doff???

Dr. Martha Jones Smith is not a regular blue doctor. My thought was that she is a referense to Dr. Martha Jones from the Dr Who episode Smith and Jones. In that episode the Doctor was posing as a patient named John Smith. Just merged her and Dr Who is all. I might be wrong though.

That "moderate success" is a semi-failure is a bit confusing. The name for the result is "success," the listing in the completed log is in red text like a failure, but you still get some cxp (which you wouldn't on a true failure). The problem is that the game UI has no way to have a true three types of success, it's something that shows up with missions like officer exchanges, console crafting, and a few others.

That is a temporal doff - those traits are otherwise unavailable together.

Are you certain? The only standard human permutation I've seen with congenial (outside of entertainers) is FF - congenial - unscrupulous, and the only one I've seen with emotional is FF - emotional - teamwork.
