I still prefer the nebula due to the universal boff slot. the other stats are similar. Will there be a fleet version of the D'Kyr.

I bought the D'Kyr during a sale. Because they nerfed the heck out of science abilities, I stopped playing my science officer, and never outfitted the D'Kyr. Certainly wouldn't buy a fleet version since it is a per captain unlock.

So... the ship is being featured this week, but its not on sale? Why should I buy it now, if I didn't want it before?

Was a great ship pre-science nerf, now Fed Sci just fly the Atrox. Guys should do a feature on the Advanced Heavy Cruiser, the Excelsior, one of the most under appreciated ships in this game. Better turn rate then the Regent, Lt.Cmr. Tac and +7.5 to all power subsystems make this a great and flexible ship from Tactical to Science Captains. Plus as a added bonus, its a Lower Half Admiral ship so you can start flying it at lvl 40 and still can compete with lvl 50 ships.

Read the thread --------:(--- > We already knew this ship existed, why not post something new?

A great ship. My favorite from the Federation.

The only problem is about the Bridge. This ship have a cool bridge in the movies and series, but in the STO you can't get one.

This ship looks good but the textures are messed up when any texture-changing set shield is put on it. The inner ring remains the original brown texture so it looks really bad.

Does this mean you guys are going to fix the many bugs on this ship now then?

    A. when you employ or rein gage with the shuttle, the animation never works properly.

    B. The hardpoint for some engines means the engine trail comes out of the side of the ship instead of the back.

    C. The arch/crcle part of the ship does not skin with the many skins in the game like MACO and reman etc. The circle stays brown (orginal ship colour) which ruins the look.

Those are just the ones from memory. I cannot, and neither should cryptic recommend this ship to anyone unless these issues are fixed!

Oh, and sci is the least playable class since they nerfed the hell out of all their powers!

I totally agree. The lack of a bridge makes the ship feel incomplete. The Jem'Hadar, Cardassian, Ferengi, and Tholian ships as well as the Tuffli Freighter all were given unique bridges but not the poor 'ol Vulcans. That and I've been having a bunch of DX11 graphical errors on its exterior as well.

Darkenzedd makes a bunch of good points in the post before this as well.

Yes. If the Vulcan ship (and shuttle) came with a unique bridge (or better yet a full interior package) I'd make a purchise.

Shoot replace the LCom sci boff with a LCom uni boff spot, up the weapons to 4 front 3 rear, and allow the shuttle to be swappible for a tactical, engineering, or science combat pet and I'd drop $20 bucks on one.

I get your intention behind this "Featured Ship" post. But ...

Let me tell you a little customer secret. My main character is a Human science captain. So, from an RP and from an (effective) gameplay point of view, the D'Kyr is not my favorite choice. However, since the moment i saw that ship in the game, i always thought, maybe someday i will buy it. I love the look. I very much like the art direction the Vulcans got in ENT (the ships, buildings & interiors). For me it would be a "nice to have".

So, where is our incentive to buy it now? That is the question. You could have seduced me with an 20% discount (maybe for one week). Even better: A new Vulcan style bridge. That would have been awesome! When i start thinking about all the other nice bridge sets & interiors that could be made and sold separately ... Still so much potential.

But ... I read in this thread about ongoing art issues with the model. That is not the incentive i looked for.

I think if you're going to spotlight these old ships you really need to see about giving them a revamp as suggested by others in this thread. Full interior, updated skin and fix any mesh errors on the models.

Also you should also spotlight KDF c-store ships as well. Give a bit of love to both factions.

I have almost 9,000 Zen atm, nothing that I want to spend it on. I am mostly a KDF player and there is very little to buy. I am not opposited to spending money on the Federation side, but I want some KDF love first. I won't support a one sided game with my purchases.

What a horrible thing to do, I thought that the Devs had made an over haul on this ship until I read the article and there was nothing new to it.

I must agree with most of what I have read in this thread. Not a good ship to get at the moment. This ship needs a good over haul in order for it to be Spot Lighted.

I hope that they read this thread and correct all of the mistakes that have been listed and will be listed in this thread

The support crafts ability needs a major buff, I don?t think that a 1 ? 2% heal would be considered support and that insane cool down for that amount of heal is ridicules.

Really Cryptic needs to be a bit more orgainsed. Now I am the first to admit I don't know how many people they have on their staff, nor what their positions and skills are but can't they have a set-up like this:
    1. 1-2 People: Doing ships and revamping old ones, as well as making new costumes
    2. 1-2 People: Making fortnightly or monthly missions, 1 person for each faction. SO each fortnight/month a Fed and a KDF mission comes out, both unique and true to their faction. If a foundry player in their spare time can make a mission is say a week, why can't a dev with the proper tools do it in two full working weeks?
    3. The rest of the team working on the season updates.

So it might slow down the seasons by a few months, I think we can all live with that.

bran, I know you need to create "content", but I strongly suggest that if ou are going to spotlight OLD stuff like this or the excelsior, etc, make it a 20% sale for a week only on this particular ship. Also as others have suggested, the graphical errors seem easy to fix and aren't a matter of "opinion". Do that and you WILL get more traction from posts like these plus good will and sales from the readers.

In fact, the species ships should get a purchaseable bridge pack for each. One for the D'Kyr, one for the Atrox, later one for the Andorian ship. It won't directly earn that much money, I guess, but sometimes beauty beats direct sale numbers by people being generally more happy with the game.

I agree and some Gorn, Orion and Naucassian bridges would be very welcome by players as well. :D

Iv'e had my D'Kyr for over a year and I love it, but just in a supporting role. If your on a team and their depending on you for dps ya'll are gonna lose. I love the way vulcan ships look and since I've baught it already i'm in favor of addin something to it instead of discounting it.
A Vulcan interior would be priceless!!

This ship is by far my favorite fed ship on both looks and handling, a pitty it is utterly broken..

The Tal'kyr power of this ship is currently so useless it might as well be removed so it would qualify for getting a fleet version..
I'd prefer seeing it fixed, though that s probably even less likely.. the pet can't keep up with my D'Kyr even with throttle at 50% (~13) and for a power with such a long CD, i would at least expect it to be able to survive a bit longer then a mere few seconds...
If the pet could just get some of the fixes that were made for the more recently introduced pets like the odyssey's and a shield/hull buff, it would be a good step towards making it a viable option to use it..

And that s still ignoring all the graphical issues with this ship (skin, hardpoints) that have never been looked at..

If you don't absolutely fell for the ships looks, don't buy it, there s too much broken on it

    just my 2c...

Okay what was the point in this
1 everyone knew this ship existed already
    2. If it was a sales pitch it did little to say you should buy this
    3. No discount to customers to seduce them into buying it.
    4. All the reviews so far says that it's not worth it
    5. I'm a science captain but happy with my MU Star Cruiser so will pass on the vulcan ship

For those who have forgotten, the purpose of these threads is to highlight the "old" ships for F2P players who may have not seen them...

On a side note, I can think of a certain "other" hull that was a multi-role ship, fleet flagship, served with distinction, etc. etc. that could be converted to a "science" ship in the 25th century... Perhaps give it a tactical orientation (LtCmdr & Cmdr Sci, LtCmdr Tac, Lt Engie) and allow it's auto-levelling phasers to reach Mk XI or XII...

Or, as my sig indicates, said NCC frame could be converted to, oh, a tug (freighter) class so that it can have late-game use... ;)
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

To rob a line: [quote: Mariemaia Kushrenada] Forum Posting is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever. However, opinions will change upon the reading of my post.[/quote]

That "cool" "Advertisement" is just useless.
No Discount, no overhaul, no new ship, it is really old and it is outclassed by newer ships!

Let me think (or better hope):...no new things the last 2 weeks, the last 2 patches was nearly to nothing worth to talk about.
    This means: vacation time
Or this means: something new big is coming and all time is speand on the laste preps and checks. I really hope that! But usally something new half cooked content is coming...

I don't think Cryptic to my knowledge has gone back and fixed or buff an older ship. It's a shame as if they revamped the older ships, fixed their problems and buffed their status and powers they'd probably see a lot more of these older ships. I like a few of them but they aren't modern enough to make the purchase.

D'Kyr is a fine looking ship; I love lean, mean killing machi... oh no, wait, it isn't. For some reason I find it severely lacking in weapons power: even with 4 beams it can barely holds its own (and with 6 it's constantly dipping way into the reds; not that fitting 6 beams is a good idea, per se). The Tholian Orb Weaver, in that regard, does much better.

tl;dr: I love cutesy little ships; but for a Rear Admiral requirement, I dunno, feels like it's too meagre to really keep it as your main vessel for long.

Still waiting for an assimiliated fed ship, half Fed ship half Borg sphere. Clearly such would be all awesome and worth the purchase.
