I think a nerf is in order.
That word is the reason that most space science skills work as poorly as they do now. One after another they were nerfed, broken and we still are waiting for them to be fixed.
SS that is only good for one shot when it is supposed to last what ten seconds. GW that a NPC Cargo ship can just ignore. Even VM seems to do little now.

Agree!, I did a 1v1 PvP "ground then space" yesterday just random out of the blue player was screaming "challenge me!" so I battle his TAC 2-1 for me before he says "I want to try my Engineer" anyways I let him, PvP is fun. his engineer wiped the floor with my sci toon, he was able to spam so much TRIBBLE that I felt that my Sci toon was useless, placing all of his turrets, support drones and whatever else he was using. THEN he was hiding behind two cover shields and placing mines. if anything Engineers need a little reducing!

if it's ok I'd rather not have my main character reduced... they barely stay on their feet in a ground STF, I don't want my science nerfed either, I don't want a redshirt holding my hand because i've been nerfed to uselessness and hey... we all know what redshirts are good for (cannon fodder for those who don't know)
Science needs ANYONE to help them in space because they have been nerfed too much which combined with their inherent low DPS and messed up NPC stats makes them near useless and Cruisers in space are weak as it is and just think what will happen when science has nothing left to nerf... oh wait there's what little cruisers have left in their favour and when that's gone the game will be unplayable...
in my honest opinion the devs need to do one thing to find the problems in this game and it will come as a shock to them... they need only PLAY THEIR OWN GAME, in something other than an oddy/regent/escort... but that will never happen... so have fun watching anyone who isn't a redshirt get nerfed and any ship that isn't an escort become unplayable... when this finally happens I'll go back to final fantasy 7
So you guys are asking for a nerf of my main because the devs were lazy when they create STFs bosses and just add "lololol moar dps lololol moar HP"? If only the boss had a non-fragile stun/hold ability, solo-ing it would be impossible.
BTW I'm sure you won't be happy if my sci isn't here to hold the aggro of heavies and elites during any stf when I pug with it (it's rare but it does happen). I saved many STFs just by holding the aggro with a nice threat control ability and healing myself while the rest of the team was just trying to do some dps, slowly... I can also save your asses on Nukara or any other hot places as it is. Not sure I could do that if my heals are nerfed. I could barely support myself with let's say -20% in heals efficiency. :rolleyes:

If my medic kit is nerfed then I just won't pug anymore because I won't be able to make the balance in poor groups. Not that I care much about helping bad pugs to get some good gear but it's nice to see some new faces.
Oh and BTW I can solo the boss in IGE with my eng (and my sci too if I ust a small glitch), so please nerf engs. Just remove their cover shield, it's cheated.
Yea, nerf healing and you pretty much condemn science to be totally useless. If we nerf healing, then we should definately lessen the damage that tacs do. It's way too much, the number of times I've seen tacs solo the queen on elite infected... Oh wait... you're just good...? No... I think we need to nerf the one volley kills in space for tacs too..

I would like to know how many STF you already ran? 1? maybe 2? I already ran more than 500 STF. I'm sci. 50% of cge I die. 50% I kill Armek alone. So, it's usual tac kill Armek alone. We are all died and he kills Armek. It happens many time. I've a friend, he's eng and many time he killed Armek alone. What does this mean. I know elite player? No I don't so. I know good player. And you, you're not! Assume your incompetence and don't grief a poor sci who was able to fight alone against Armek. You can do it but it seems you don't want. I's easier to say sci blabla than to improve and increase skills and ability.

You confuse 'science kit' with the combined effect of science kit and certain armor sets.
Federation science players get an insane tanking ability when they combine 2-piece maco and 2-piece omega set with the healing power of the science kit.
2 piece maco = insane shield regeneration
2 piece omega= insane energy resists (to armor not shield)
healing kit = insane resists and self heals.
... plus the consumable hyposprays and the individual armor piece bonuses.
Omega shield = 25% dodge bonus.
Maco armor = higher kinetic and energy resists
And you get someone that can literally tank all freaking day.
Armek also has two 'flaws' that enable people, even non-science, to defeat him via glitching his AI. Sometimes this is the only way to beat him since the AI also glitches in favor of Armek.
Overall the elite stf boss fights were very poorly designed. They should provide a challenge for a team working together not be an exercise in online masochism. The devs should take a good look at the final fantasy 11 boss fights to learn how to do it. That game really,really has intense and rewarding boss battles.
I have a Fed Tac, full Mk12 MACO Ground, all optionals.
Fed Engi that I just recently started working ground on, Mk10 Omega Ground, all Space optionals.
Klink Tac, full Mk12 KHG Ground, all optionals.
All of them also have the set pieces of MACO and KHG Space I wanted, in Mk12.
Full Mk12 weapons.
Hundreds of STF Elites finished, Space and Ground.

I never admitted to trolling, I said perhaps I should have worded my post differently. In no way did I come out and go "TROLOLOLOL" or anything of the sort.
Here's what happened...I was in a CGE, I suggested the usual Pulsewave Hug on Armek. When it failed once because the Sci Player decided to back away from Armek and got 1 shotted by his uber-death-arm cannon.
We did it again, this time with the Sci rushing in ahead of everyone else and attempted to solo him. He died the first time. He was successful the second.
Now, you can continue to say whatever you will. The fact is, the Sci Officer figuratively told us. "I got this, noobs".
I still don't believe any boss should be solo-able by any class, but I see it happening most with Sci Class.
I would personally like to thank Skyfaller for being neutral and informative, rather then attacking me.

ok, firstly a small lesson I learned years ago, "if yo can't beat them, join them" I play a science (along with a tac and an engi) my sci had a rare Mk X sniper rifle until recently and no STF set.
I've been doing fairly well in elite STFs regardless. We got to the last room of IGE and the team got trapped outside/killed by drones leaving me under-equipped using a xenobiologist kit at the time to solo Rebbeca, which I did and again science saved the game I also got a well earned ptoto tech and salvage along with a congrats and a thanks from the team for doing so.
these things happen, live with it, don't take away the last thing science has standing in it's favour, engineers are next (in fact with the latest kit 'fix' it's already begun)
Having played my tactical as a main I can say we realistically only have one good kit, one ok kit, and one kit we keep just for the cloak. The rest are garbage. Tactical is ridiculously fragile on the ground, no heals for health or shields and consumables share recycles too long to be able to use both. The endless stream of buffs makes it very hard to keep DPS up, there are times you aren't done buffing and the group is 3/4 dead even on elite. Other than the grenade we have no direct damaging abilities, no utility, nothing, it makes us very limited and vulnerable.
My alt is a level 50 science, the difference here isn't the power of their kits, but the average quality. Science have 4 good kits and the rest are useful. Physicist is aoe crazy fun, medic is everything tac can't be, and tachyon harmonic can put out more damage in elite stfs to shields than any tac can ever hope. Is it over powered? Not really, science has highs and lows, when their abilities run out they are pretty ineffective, but when they are up its impressive. They are far more survivable in any kit, which is what gives them that over powered feeling.
Engineer I haven't played, but the enemy neutralization kit makes me jealous, their explosives do so much more than a tac grenade it is unfair. Their bunker kits have some good things in them but it is rare to be used properly. They have almost as many garbage kits as tactical but quite a few good utility kits.
My opinion, science doesn't need any improvement, engineers have some awesome abilities packaged with a bunch of garbage and it needs major adjustment so those abilities can make them what they should be. Tactical needs some help, they get one big hit and not much else after that, enough to TRIBBLE everything off so it kills them. Their grenade targeting is hopeless for less damage than a single shot. They have no durability and no utility, it doesn't add up.
I mentioned on another thread a revolutionary concept, the concept of a custom kit vendor so that like you can choose your ship and BOFF skills in space to suite your play style you could go to this vendor (preferably not on ESD due to load times) and build your own kit (obviously this would have to cost ECs of dil or the few people who can afford ZEN will have too much power) but it would fix the problem of wasted kit abilities especially with the new kit 'fix'
