You know what? Be happy that there still are such dedicated players out there who spend 100 dullies a week to support STO for a bright future. If there weren't such players, STO wouldn't have made it past the F2P era. I admit, I spend quite a sum of cash on these Zen / CP as well, mainly to help my fleet friends and fleet in general, butt also to get good gear and enjoy the game on a higher level. I also do sum roleplaying, I own all DVD / Blu-Ray boxes with Star Trek in it, because I luv Trek and I support the franchise as good as I can. I work 100%, butt in my free time, I live Trek.

I have respect for those who don't wish to pay and farm instead, it's all good. Butt if you think those who pay more (even if it's 200 dullies or more a week) are crazy ... better think twice. This game needs the money from the customers, the playerbase. Without the money, the game dies. Simply put.

This is what people don't get.

They think Free To Play means everything is handed to them. Ships, uniforms, gear.

Apparently when a game goes F2P the server-upkeep bill, electric bill and employee wages go away... Free TO Play means "free server repairs", "free electricity for the servers and offices" and "all the workers (especially the writers) now work for free as well."

These premium items are what keep the game running, and what pay for the writing.

I've spent several grand on this game over two years. No regret.

Wish they'd write more story and lay off the grind mechanics for awhile... but hey overall I'm satisfied with what I've gotten.

That said, I'm just a TINY bit chuffed that I can't buy ZEN this week. Medical bills are more important than the game. ;)

I bought 3000 zen last night through steam. Your post makes it clear that the 15% bonus should apply to steam as well. Just not the 300 zen extra when you buy 5000.

So why is it then that I got 3000 and not 3450 as promised? Please let me know when I can expect the 15% extra I should be getting. If you can't please issue me a refund.

I was on this morning looking at the store. To see what I can buy. I will get some zen points when I get back on later. I'm taking up on this offer. After what added points I can get with the usual amount I buy.

We are happy to announce that we are launching a bonus ZEN promotion that will earn you an extra 15% ZEN when you purchase through PayPal, Skrill/Moneybookers, ClickandBuy, Google Checkout, or Steam!

    Awesome.

    - Google Checkout (**Not eligible for the bonus 300 ZEN)

    - Steam (**Not eligible for the bonus 300 ZEN)

What!?!?! Seriously? I'm TRYING to give you my money and you don't want it? Really? Please give us the +300 Zen on the Steam too. Then I'll give you my money.

Also, stop contradicting yourself. Don't you read before posting?

Just to chime in (again, but more directly):

Please let us pay via credit card directly and not through SKRILL! That's how we used to do it when Cryptic ran the store.

No. If you buy 5000 Zen, you get a bous amount. He just bought twice.

My prefered electronic payment method is PayPal. PayPal takes 3-5 Business Days to process a transfer of funds order. Which means that if I started right now, the funds might be ready for me to use/buy Zen Wednesday....

ya, letting people know about an incoming sale might let you earn a bit extra as people will be prepared. ie, they will have money to give you.

I use PayPal all the time and the transfer is as instantaneous as anything can be... never had even a 1 day delay. More like 10 minutes, tops. Usually, though, it's instant.

With the steam is the same thing. In the past, you get your bonus right seconds later. Today I can't get my zen bonus. I get the default zen amount, without bonus. This is sad =/

The current process to GIVE CRYPTIC MONEY is insanely complicated. Yes, it can be done, but in it's current form it is extremely unfriendly for the user. It really needs to be streamlined and the ability to buy points brought back in game.

You want to make it EASIER for people to give you their money...not HARDER...

PSA: If you bought zen recently and did not get your +15% bonus, contact Perfect World customer service with your e-reciept and you will get your rightful bonus.

And Steam Wallet IS a valid way to get your ZEN bonus.

This is what they said to me:

    "Greetings,
Thank you for contacting us about this issue.

We apologize for the delay in receiving your 15% bonus Zen. The appropriate amount of Zen has been credited to your account and should be available to you at this time.

    Thank you for playing!
    Customer Support
Cryptic Studios / Perfect World Entertainment"

And behold my bonus ZEN was there for me when I logged back on!

How is the process to buy zen complicated.

    Charge zen>select payment option>confirm>transfer zen

    What is complicated by that!

I've actually lost the will to get upset about things like this anymore. At the end of the day after a lot of hassle at work STO is my refuge. I was a F2P player for about 6 months and jumped on the bandwagon for the three month deal earlier this week. I regularly by Zen in $20 or $30 spree's every few months or so when I'm mostly paid up. I like using Steam because I don't have to jump through a lot of hoops to manage "micro" payments or re-download games or add-ons. If I somehow get this bonus Zrn, great, if not, meh. So there ya go, I'm a lazy and apathetic North American man-sloth. PWE's perfect demographic.

And the fact it's got 50 different ways to do it makes it less complicated, not more; just pick the one that is easy/fast for you and always use it. Some other guy may not be able to use your way quickly (the differences in PayPal between whether you have a credit card on file or not, for instance), so the other ways help him.

Most of my Zen purchases lately have been physical cards in 7-11; if I have $10 cash left over when I go to buy a lottery ticket, I buy Zen. When I want a lot of it, I use PayPal, but I've experimented with several others. The ones for billing to your mobile phone are interesting, although they can probably be frustrating due to every carrier having different limits.

But then it is people making it complicated, not PWE. If I went to a Starbucks and asked for a plain americano, but with a low roast bean, low fat milk, in a tall cup, with only two sugars, but then my creditcards are rejected or I can't decide how to pay, Is it Starbucks fault or mine.

I just stick to the same old system, paingy through PayPal, it is so quick and easy I have even done it while in CSE and we got the optional.

Oh and to all the haters, you moan like hell when they don't offer payment bonus and you moan like hell when they do. You guys make me laugh, no wonder developers are accused of not listening to the community I once heard a game developer say "if you are not feeling depressed enough, go look on the forums".

The fact that there are people complaining about the PWE system as compared to what we used to have is a valid concern that should be listened to without a sarcastic reply.

The fact is we were able to press a button in-game and purchase cpoints in-game with a few clicks, which is a lot less complicated than what we have now.
And the fact it's got 50 different ways to do it makes it less complicated

It's got 12 ways, though it states 13, but none of these work for me. The direct credit card (Visa/MC) is a lie, as it is not DIRECT it goes through Skrill - so why list that option and Skrill? That leaves me with GoogleCheckout which I have used for other web-purchases, except that one does not receive the 300 bonus zen, so then you feel gypped.

Under Cryptic's payment method it was not complicated and so easy to purchase c-points. Since the switch I haven't been able to purchase Zen using anything I'm comfortable with. And so I don't. I'm just glad that I purchased a bunch of Cpoints (and lifetime) prior to switching my account over.

    Since switching to PWE:
    1) lost my account name
    2) the program keeps reverting to the Cryptic account name whenever I switch avatars
    3) can't purchase "zen" the way I used to (or get gypped by another method)
    4) can't easily delete the hundreds of exchange mails generated per week

No one should have to bend over backwards just to purchase zen

Because everyone who complains in the forums, is 100% biased and justified in what they complain about.

    I still maintain
    Buy zen>charge zen>select amount>select payment>confirm>transfer zen
Is still a quick and easy uncomplicated system. If this confuses anyone. Maybe they could swap the big words for little ones and add a few big bright colourful pictures.
