This is as intended? How can you even tell what you can and can't contribute now?

Yes, that's a big problem when you go to buy them on the Exchange. Personally, I'm not going to be buying DOffs on the Exchange.
You can still crunch five whites into a green, then maybe break them down into three whites, and those whites can be contributed. But that doesn't help much when you're looking for specific DOff types.
The devs should be well aware by now that we consider this to be a problem, but there's no telling at this point whether they'll do anything about it.
ok so i spent fleet credits to buy doffs... i cant use them in fleet projects, i cant trade them in for higher level doffs at starfleet academy, if i dismiss them i no longer get dilithium or cxp for them. there is no label that tells you these are fleet doffs.

I"ll point out a flaw in your statement. I don't have a single fleet doff on any of my alts and theres is a truckload (unbound) I can't contribute...
It's not working as intended, it's borked as something usually is after a patch that size. Way to go again Pakled World...

What is really starting to bother me about this entire situation is that they have had a full day and a half to respond with something a little more informative than "working as intended" and have not even bothered.
No acknowledgement that the problem exists. No explanation of why this change was omitted from two different sets of patch notes. Not even a defiant "This is how it is, deal with it!" post from whatever genius thought this was a good idea.

On the plus side, I guess some of my weekend just got freed up. Won't be spending any time advancing fleet projects.
Ok, guys? Think about it! This was all done to get you to spend MORE MONEY! They want you to buy Doff packs! To the tune of hundreds of dollars!(That is what it would take to get to tier 5) You Don?t spend then you don?t get a Tier 5 base with the Ships and weapons.. It?s as simple as that.. and since many of the projects required a lot of doffs, it?s an opportunity for them to make money! As simple as that! They are about making money!, Plain and simple? they don?t care how much time you have invested in the game! You are a number on a spreadsheet! Plain and simple, Soon I bet will see doffs be bound to you? And the ONLY way of getting doffs for a base will be to buy doff packs? This will make them more money! You have to keep in mind they have a whole department sitting around just trying to think up ways to get you to spend money. They don?t care what you think, they don?t care about your feelings, on the only reason they care a little about the game play its self, it to find a way to trick you or make you have to spend real money on something you want?. Or just flat out say you have to spend real money for xyz.
Personally I think this move was totally intended. It keeps you buying doff packs, or spending in some way to build your base. But they are taking a big risk! I know within my fleet there is talk of just quitting the game, if they don?t put it back the way it was? ITS A GAME FOR GOD SAKES! And most cannot afford to spend a lot on it, and if you can?t well it?s going to be hard to be completive within the game since tier 5 fleet weapons will be the most powerful in the game, but you will only be able to get from a tier 5 base. I did not mind spending a little here and there but to me it is obvious that this move.. was a greed move? and was intended! Problems is I don?t think they know they might have just killed the game as we know it? IT will now anyway you look at it cost real money to complete a base in any reasonable amount of time?. And they know it.. trying to do it the freeway.. Will take months if not years? and they know it? Don?t fool your self?s in to thinking that the CARE what you think,, they don?t? To them were just stupid Star Trek nerds they can find ways of getting real money out of us.
Personally I am going to give them maybe a week maybe two,,, to fix this? If they don?t well myself and my credit card will be going out the door?. There is many, many ,games out there guys?. And most don?t pull this TRIBBLE? And for now in protest I will not buy another doff pack, or key or anything else, And who ever reads this should do the same, Speak what you want with your wallet! Because that is the only thing they care about? And that is for sure!!!
They are slowly going to make this game for the rich Star Trek nerds, Spend money or you won?t have an enjoyable experience which to me = game fail?. On to the next game?.

Our fleet is at standstill now with less and less participation.
There's a workaround though: use them for the Officer Exchange Programs. That will net you at LEAST a green doff, or rather, 3 usable white doffs.
have you actually tried this because i did last night and i cleared all my common doffs from my roster and broke apare 2 greens to give me 6 whites. then i used 1 of the fleet doffs with 4 non fleet doffs to make a green and i got a failure to start mission. i did it again but this time without the fleet doff and it started just fine. i then took another green into 3 whites and tried again with the fleet common doff and it would not start the mission again.
has anybody actually tried this workaround themselves and can verify it works?
A doff here one there will not hack it when the new project need 60, to keep a base build going you need to have a combanation of buying and before fleet doffs, and maybe a few packs, it you do it that way it will take you forever, it is all you will get done, and its not very enjoyable... IF THEY DONT FIX IT>> THEY HAVE RUNIED THE GAME>>> I am not going to spent a year building a base IN A GAME!! AND IM NOT GOING TO SPEND REAL MONEY DOING IT!!! TRIBBLE it! I JUST WONT SPEND ANYTHING And I might cancel my gold subscription to! What would be the point of keeping it! I am not going to spend my money on a game that just wants more and more and more money to beable to enjoy it... And then they TRIBBLE you anyway.... So STO says its free to play... maybe but you wont enjoy it with out walkarounds (Hours and Hours of them) or spending money To Tell you the truth this last TRIBBLE they have pulled has me really pissed off! It show there greed. So now if we want doff for are base we have to spend HOURS of walkarounds wich are not fun at all, and will not have time to play the fun parts of the game.... I bought all those doffs off the exchange, (all 41 of them and they were not cheap) so I could donate them to the fleet starbase. As you can see the contribute button is un-highlighted, meaning I can't contribute them.
I am guessing, these are the doffs people bought them with fleet credits and seeing they could not use them placed them on the exchange. Meaning I bought a whole lot of useless, over priced doffs and have nothing to do with them except trade them in with Ferras.
I really do hope this is a bug and is fixed ASAP or I can see the fleet contribution coming crashing to a sudden halt, from all but the most dedicated fleets.
Can't donate these duty officers (yes there are duplicates) to construct our industrial fabricator. I'm assuming they're fleet doffs as there's no way to tell. My roster is getting full, and I'm not buying extra slots just to cover a bug.
and to top it off if you dismiss a fleet doff....you don't get 75 Dilithium like you do for a normal doff.....

I busted my tail to EARN fleet marks, and fleet credits. Time = money to me. I spent time earning these things to buy something that is for all practical purposes....worthless.:mad:
The Problem with the Fleet Doffs is that there are in the wrong Category. Ibought some to get some Sec. officers, i want to spend them and there didnt appear in the list, so i checked my Doff system just to see that the Security Officers where statet as Tactical officers, and thats why i cant contribute them. So there is an Error that needs to be fixed.

The wrong category is a mistake.
But even if they're the right category, you still can't contribute them. At all. Which is intentional and not a bug.

I mean, it wouldn't upset me, since I don't use the boxes, but it would upset a lot of other people.
I thought the whole point to Fleet DOFFs was to be able to contribute them to Fleet projects.

Did you buy any of those on the Exchange? Because you can put fleet DOffs on the Exchange, and they don't look any different from normal DOffs.
I tell you this, after this weekend no one is buying doff's anymore, because they MIGHT be useless. Working as intended huh? :eek:

Yeah, but going back and forth to the fleet base and SFA is a huge pain. Workarounds are great, but I prefer thought-out, tested solutions.
Of course, fixing this problem would require someone to admit it is a problem.....
