Any non-fleet uses for Fleet Marks?

tdon7tdon7 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Yes, I realize that they're called fleet marks.

And with that being said:

As someone who is not part of a fleet, unlikely to be a part of a fleet, and has no desire to try to make a "One-player Starbase" is there really any reason to gather these things? Can I hand them off to other players perhaps? Can I contribute to someone else's starbase without being a member of their fleet? Is there some non-fleet NPC I can go to in order to exchange these for something that will be useful to me?

No reason, at this time. The only use they have is to advance Fleetbases.

Of course you can always just join a Fleet and give them to them. Just because you're in a Fleet doesn't mean you actually need to do anything with the Fleet-members.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I'm perfectly social, I just don't feel like I have to fall in to a clique to be able to enjoy what I'm doing.

At any rate, thank you both for the answers. That's all I needed to know.

Not all fleets are based around the very-social aspect or the strength aspect of a fleet, but merely the wish to gain from the fleet system. You might want to seek one of those out...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Since Marks are meant as Fleet-only currency, doesn't mean you couldn't "sell" your Marks to a Fleet.

For instance, you collected 1000 Marks, you could offer a needy fleet by offering those marks in exchange for items, access to the Fleet Equipment Store (and using your newly gained Fleet Credits ), or maybe even in exchange for a Ship Provision and being able to get a Fleet Ship.

All that requires you is to temporarily join a fleet to spend the marks and fleet credits and to gain the ship. Then you can leave, and retain that ship or gear.

    So it's Win / Win.

That's certainly doable. I guess what I would like is for them to cut out the middle-man, so to speak. Where I could just use the fleet marks at a fleet whether I'm part of it or not, and that fleet would get those marks then. All it would take is gaining access to the fleet starbase by way of invite.

Not really a big issue, mind you, but it would be convenient. Alternatively offer up a means by which a fleet puts up X amount of Dilithium in exchange for marks, sort of how the Dil exchange is for Zen.

As I said, I do not need to be part of a fleet to be social. My desire to remain outside of the fleet system does not make me anti-social and its idiotic to think that it does.

I am in fleet and have never done anything with the fleet. I use my fleet marks and Doffs and items to help with the starbase whenever i can. And get the bonuses of bein in a fleet.

There are fleets of all types. I recommend joining one not because of socialization and whatnot. But because it offers you chance to experience the whole game.

Just find the fleet that is good for you.

If you wish to enjoy the fleet based content, but not be tied to a fleet your more than welcome to join my fleet.

We welcome anyone no matter the play style, there are times we just want to solo - and do that, and times we group up. What ever suits our mood when we log in to be honest.

We have both Fed and KDF fleets (I tend to play more KDF personally) and we have a chat channel to talk cross faction if we want a chat, we also have TeamSpeak which is more general chat than game chat lol.

Offer is there bud, there are more fleets out there like us, I can point you in the right direction should you want to join a larger fleet but keep it relaxed.

Stop sitting behind a computer if you want to be social, there's a big bright world out there.

I hope they keep it as it is and keep fleet marks only for fleet advancement. If you are wondering their use, get a bunch of them, and "sell" them to a fleet by joining for five minutes, giving up all the marks, have them pay you in goods or energy credits, leave the fleet and be on your marry way.

Have you been out there? It's certainly big, but I find the company of Trekkies to be much more bright. :)

You don't need to join a fleet to be social in STO.

There are several channels like the Accolade and DOFF channel where there are people of dozens of different fleets from both sides, and everyone pretty much cooperates like a huge fleet.

Unfortunately, you can't interact with a Fleet Store without being in a fleet, more or less a fleet that has unlocked that content.

Perhaps Cryptic could arrange for a type of visitor permissions that allow guests of the fleet to do use their stores in the future. Or somekind of transaction system that allows you to sell your Marks or trade your Marks. So I suggest you ask this for the next "Ask Cryptic".
