When we talk about PVP, we usually mean arena space pvp. I don't think anyone cares what you do in C&H.
As i mentioned b4, we a relatively NEW to the PvP scene and Arena isn't exactly friendly to pug in....cap and hold is a good place to hone teamwork and individual skills, same as ker'rat...which i also goto semi frequently

TSI is evil, was in a cap and hold with 1 last night in my weaver, he was in a jemmy, he was fighting a buddy of mine and about to kill him, so i interceded, healed my buddy then proceeded engaging him, to make a VERY long story short....me and my buddy engaged him for the next 20 or so minutes, he popped my friend probably 6 or 7 times but couldn't kill me in this particular engagement...it took us 20 minutes and god knows how many well times subnukes, vm's and so on to finally put a nail in him....talk about TOUGH
Which is essentially telling the devs that you absolutely don't care if they invent new types of PvP maps. Even if you did not mean it (which I don't know), that is the message the game statistics will tell them.

Honestly I que for cap and hold a couple times a month... and almost always get board out of my head. Its always the same... 20 and 0 kills... and spending my time running from node to node playing pop new noob.... really no thanks.

Serious pvp fleets would love to fight you even in a 4v4. It's about the challenge and fun, not necessarily having 5 players. Join the Opvp channel and just ask "any premades on looking for a 3v3/4v4/whatever" and we normally set up a private match anyway. Also, Opvp often does Bigfights? of 10v10 pugmades where you guys can get more practice.
What fleets you get will largely be dependent on timezone. Where are you guys?
GMT= TSI, Pandas, SOB, Mosquito Sqaud, Turkish RP fleet, etc
EST = Critz, Pandas, SOB, Nova Core, TOS Veterans, etc
WST - Critz, Shut Up Wesley, Nova Core, TOS, etc
Sure you will see some Critz on early, and you will see some TSI on late. But for full premades that's about the whole of it. I know I've missed some fleets, those are just a few off the top of my head.
There isn't much respect for C&H because the quality of pvper there is about as low as it can get generally speaking. Any group worth their salt will dominate so thoroughly that it's just not enjoyable after a few matches. Kerrat can be a mixed bag sometimes good and sometimes bad. Privates are where it's at and Opvp channel is the gateway to getting into that group. Arenas are where a lot of pvpers goof around or practice since a 3 man beating a premade happens despite getting an afker and terripug and makes winning against the odds all the sweeter.

I just think they started the wrong way. First I would implement just "neutral zone" openpvp map without any objective = Ker'Rat without NPCs.
Then I would try to add some objectives to it...and so on and see how it goes.
They basically try to make a huge project instead building it from smaller one.
Time will show. I'm a little sceptic about it, but truth is, Cryptic never had much focus on PvP, so they are kind of noobs in this area. But every noobs eventually learns. SO let's see how it goes.

C&H is not really a test of strenght. Any 4 ships working together can usually rule a C&H map. No matter what their skill level. You'll be fighting with superior numbers all the time. Also, if you go for the kills, you may get them and still loose the map.
Arena is just fine for pugging. Losts of pugs there, some pug-mades and a few premades. Even if I had met you in a TRIBBLE pug group in an Arena, I could have offered an opinion on your question.

Sad thing is that PvP is only balanced when there are 2 relatively close teams fighting eachother. But to reach that is a long shot. Best way would be to ask for your own game, on Opvp. If you are puging, chances are either to run into a bad team (most likely) and it will be an easy win, either into a premade where you get face ***** and spend most of your time going in between respawn point and the battle.
To the OP, cap and hold is probably a better place to start pvp-ing, even though there are so many bad pugs in arenas also. I think best would be for you to get your team and ask for a match in Opvp, as most folks here mentioned. You can also mix the teams, so 2 from your team and 3 from opvp in one team, and the other one would have the other 2 from your team and 3 from opvp, this way you could see how others are playing. Also, get Fraps - a software that lets you record anythig on your comp screen (thissler mentioned it a while ago and I have to admit it is very a good way to go over a match and see what happened in more details).
On the other side, there are way too many stuns, holds, disables and team heals (for example extend shields: the ship giving it doesn't sacrifice anything but a lt, ltc or cdr slot - and when you are an engineer, is not much you can use anyways, where I would think it should also loose some amount of power to shields, and the ship receiving it gets an insane resist and shield regen rather than a more lower resist and maybe a bonus power to shields. Another thing I would change: cannon fire, the should fire much faster, have more damage but not follow the target). Stun, disables, holds etc its only fun when in a premade vs premade. Otherwise its anything but fun. Not to mention broken abilities (syphons, phasers etc). I don't see a way for cryptic to fix that other than either re-design those abilities, either go on a separate way with different abilities/behavior for pvp (which they don't want to do). If Cryptic doesn't want to redesign those, then at least implement separate pug queues and separate premade queues. In pug queues only one member from a fleet should be allowed. Still, this would allow a "premade" from opvp for example to go against a regular pug, but at least it would give premades a better challenge and an incentive to leave the pug queues alone. I'm sure nobody on this forum is looking for a 10 minutes quick victory 15-0, it has no challange. Also, a 1-1 queue would be a nice addition. And those don't seem to be hard to implement, I don't see why we have to wait few more seasons for something that seems to be that easy to do.
Regarding Arenas, there is not really a place where you can break the contact or where you can use the terrain in your advantage (for ex like in MWO), other than few asteroids that people try to avoid and go all way up for their pew-pew. We definitely need some arena maps where you are forced to navigate between asteroids, nebulas with gas that drops your shields, decloak and reduce impulse, or whatever other things that could break a little team heals and team play and create a possibility for ambush.
But we don't even get fleet marks from PvP, lol, even if few developers are willing to help us, we need a managerial decision for the PvP to move a little further. I think that redesigning the queues and few maps won't be such a big deal.

Meh, I haven't really noticed any of you fleet members. I know you from before though.
Your that kid who, when cornered by me in a Cap N' Hold a few months ago, was storming abuse in Zone Chat and being very abusive in PMs. You quickly become so entertaining that several other fleet members chim'd in and worked you up even more!

If you want recognition in the pvp community, ask for matches in OPVP as has been said, or hit up the queues; we generally only enter C&H once in a blue moon for the lulz. The first ones against one of the major fleets will probably end 15-0 against you if you're just learning the ropes; accept that, ask what you did wrong, and try not to make the same mistakes next time.
Never head of your fleet either. Not sure what your asking for really by posting this. If you want validation your most likely going about it the wrong way.

That strikes me as quite pointless. People don't use the terrain of the existing maps much, why spend effort to give people another map full of vacuum to shoot at each other? The existing maps do that quite sufficiently.
I agree that C&H might be more interesting with more maps, but more arena maps? Pff. Waste of dev time.

Exactly... the maps have and still do on occasion get used. People like Sophie and there 3 months of PvP experience may not have seen it. However many of us have seen how much fun it can be.... YES I would like new maps for arena... I would love another or perhaps even 2-3 cap and hold maps.... I have created enough user love quake maps ect to understand... its a lack of willingness on Cryptics part not time nor money. Hell if we allowed people to create PvP maps for privates with the foundry there would be 40 maps better then cryptics with in a week.
Frankly I don't want user created maps... I want Cryptic to pay there map guy to sit down for a week and hammer out 5-10 maps... sure some of them can be basic changes of scenery and if he or she comes up with 1 or 2 cool twists on the terrain then great.
Honesty from talking to many of my in game friends I am not alone in this... some of those friends of mine are crazy PvP heads that have also sunk hundreds of dollars into this game. If whats left of the PvP community broke out there calculators... I would think we have spent more then our fair share of $$$ to support Cryptic even with ownership changes and year long content droughts... Quite Simply we are owed at least that much...
Mr. Stahl Can take his new tech shelve it (he already has) and treat us with the respect of giving us ONE week of a devs time to create some new eye candy for PvP. THAT would create some good faith... frankly if they are not capable of that I can tell you that for myself personly ANY future Maps they create for OTHER PROJECTS WILL NEVER EVER GET A look from my eyes cause ZERO will be the amount of money I will spend on any thing with there there name on it.... STO I'm invested I have friends and the IMO Genius level base design of STO has me hooked, I'm not going anywhere... they know that and I hope they come through with some medium level love for those of us hoping that they really do mean well.

It really annoys me that almost all cracked planet matches end up way above, or below the cracked planet. I'd love a space map that was entirely an asteroid field with no large open spaces.

Exactly... the maps have and still do on occasion get used. People like Sophie and there 3 months of PvP experience may not have seen it. However many of us have seen how much fun it can be.... YES I would like new maps for arena... I would love another or perhaps even 2-3 cap and hold maps.... I have created enough user love quake maps ect to understand... its a lack of willingness on Cryptics part not time nor money. Hell if we allowed people to create PvP maps for privates with the foundry there would be 40 maps better then cryptics with in a week.
Frankly I don't want user created maps... I want Cryptic to pay there map guy to sit down for a week and hammer out 5-10 maps... sure some of them can be basic changes of scenery and if he or she comes up with 1 or 2 cool twists on the terrain then great.
Honesty from talking to many of my in game friends I am not alone in this... some of those friends of mine are crazy PvP heads that have also sunk hundreds of dollars into this game. If whats left of the PvP community broke out there calculators... I would think we have spent more then our fair share of $$$ to support Cryptic even with ownership changes and year long content droughts... Quite Simply we are owed at least that much...
Mr. Stahl Can take his new tech shelve it (he already has) and treat us with the respect of giving us ONE week of a devs time to create some new eye candy for PvP. THAT would create some good faith... frankly if they are not capable of that I can tell you that for myself personly ANY future Maps they create for OTHER PROJECTS WILL NEVER EVER GET A look from my eyes cause ZERO will be the amount of money I will spend on any thing with there there name on it.... STO I'm invested I have friends and the IMO Genius level base design of STO has me hooked, I'm not going anywhere... they know that and I hope they come through with some medium level love for those of us hoping that they really do mean well.
