Let's see. The Feds have the Dreadnought. 4/4 with a cloaking device. They have T5 escorts with 4/3 and a cloaking device. So how would it be in any way unreasonable that the KDF high command would order the B'Rel T5 z store ship to be designed 4/3 with a enhanced battle cloak to help counter those ships? And it wouldn't be "op" as it still has less hull and shields.
Absolutely nothing wrong with KDF science ships. Criticize less, think out of the box more.
A B'rel is a scout ship (crew=40), the Defiant is an OP escort that also has one more TAC console and rear weapon mount than the B'Rel and no enhanced battle cloak.
The Dread has a crew of 1000, and even with 5 more weapons the B'rel is no match for it. I'd think the Klingon High command would rather fit a ship that can withstand the pounding from a dread with the additional weapon mounts and BC than to throw them away on scout ship.
I can't remember ever seeing a Klingon scientist on any trek shows, so I think klingon science ships are a myth.

Then we could also argue that Klingons should never have been a space warp capable race because they had no scientists. Blatantly not possible. They had and have to have science and therefore scientists to develop space flight, develop weapons, etc.
Your origin statement was about a cloaked scout ship with more weapons than a battle cruiser. 4/4 is not more than, it's the same as. My point was why not, the Feds have TRIBBLE. No reason the Brel retrofit shouldn't have at least 4/3. It is the top of its line driven by Lt Generals and should have the best tech. And I have seen Dreads popped by Brel torp boats. They are not invincible.

I was actually laughing at someone elses suggestion of the EBC scout ship with more weapons than a battlecruiser. The argument 'the Feds got one so why doesn't the KDF get one' gets old after a while, everyone would be flying the K'Tinga if it had a BOFF layout and 4/3 weps that you want on the B'rel.
...But I have no doubt your B'rels paper thin shields and hull make it a much better ship than the K'Tinga or Vorcha that was purposely built for standing toe-to-toe with other med-large cap ships.
The fact remains that there are no KDF fleet science ships, and that needs to be remedied, especially since the only tier 5 science ship they ever got was the Varanus, and it needs more tactical strength to compete with the stuff the Federation fleets are getting, not to mention a bit more durability.
My desire to purchase a Fleet Varanus would depend on that Lt. Com tactical bridge officer slot; without it, the Orb Weaver will continue to make this ship pointless.

Awoken Dead
Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG
Or just be completely stupid and drop the ensign sci and promote the eng to lt com. I will throw my money at the screen. Same if the ensign went uni.
My honest personal opinion as a Kar'fi lover is that a buff is not needed and it's competitive as-is. So I expect a fleet version any day.
CommanderDonatra@Capt.Sisko: ahhh is it supposed to do that?
Norvo Tigan@dontdrunkimshoot: hell ya, maybe
unless cryptic/pwe makes then really dull and not like they should be
i mean double shields
at least 12 weapon slots on a d'diridex
unpenetrable cloaks
especially when u think about it, a romulan warbird had the equivalant on weps as 3 galaxy's together and moved like a freakin defiant !!!
oh yeah I WANT THALORON WEAPONS!!!!
edit : i know its off topic but i dont care !!! i just want it to be said !!!!
5tac 2eng 3Sci consoles
1.0 Shild modifier

Solution:
Fleet Varanus Support Ship
+10% hull strength
+10% shield modifier
Console layout:
3 Engineering
4 Science
3 Tactical
Bridge officer layout:
Lt. Commander Tactical
Lt. Engineering
Ensign Engineering
Commander Science
Lt. Commander Science
