Fleet hijacked, do we have no recourse?

Yes there is an option to not allow players to demote someone of the same rank. however, at the level of Leader, ALL of the options are not able to be reset. A Fleet Leader has all of these options set to on and they can not be turned off. Once turned off it takes the next higher rank with those permissions to turn them back on. As there is no level higher than Leader......Well you get the picture.

The op's hijacker was taken back at the level of Leader. This is what caused the problem.

As to if Cryptic or PWE will help. No they won't, They will tell you something about Fleet Politics needing to sort it out. That is IF they even respond to you.

The problem then is: SOMEONE PROMOTED HIM TO FLEET LEADER RANK AFTER THE TANTRUM. Let me repeat ... AFTER THE TANTRUM. Man, talk about not being careful. It was AFTER THE TANTRUM.

The guy throws a fit, leaves the fleet, then someone was dumb enough to promote him back to FLEET LEADER? You really only need one at the top and put all others at the rank below. You can still give the second level most of the abilities without running the risk of getting a GOD guy.

your recourse is to remove him (tell him to put it back and leave)
if he does not comply consider taking legal action (theft of virtual resources IS now illegal in some countries)

or just go round to his house and tell his mother

Thanks guy, except Johnny who for some reason thinks hijackings are subjective only to the hijacker. We'll see what we can do with tickets. If we all keep sending them maybe we'll at least get a response. He might calm down but I'm not holding my breath.

Sorry dude, but I just can't stop laughing at your situation. As others have stated, it's nobody's fault but your own for letting someone untrustworthy run your fleet. PWE likely won't help because one of your own allowed him back in.

So move on and stop whining, you still got your FC's.

Joking aside though, what happened is really unfortunate, but I don't think Cryptic will help. As others have said, make a new fleet while you're ahead.

Everyone deals with a really....bad fleet/clan/guild/etc in an MMO at one point or another. Regardless of anything else, it happens, because people can be selfish, uptight, power-hungry little...

    *ahem*

Point being, I've dealt with virtually the same issue you are, and the fleet I am in now, split away from our previous fleet, and never looked back.

Nice way to begin your post. :D

... Have you read ANYTHING in this thread other than that post? Because if you did, then you wouldn't have made the idiotic mistake of thinking that the OP was the person responsible for this thief's coming to power.

Eidborg, you have two options at this point.

    1. Quit the fleet, reform it with as many people as you can rally from your current one. Lose a bit of progress short-term, but likely save your fleet from destruction.

    2. Be patient, wait for 'God' to take his '40 minute nap' (something I read in an StarCraft 2 map description and I was referring to the 30 day time limit for afk leaders in this case), and take control. Re-establish order within the fleet, kick him out once and for all, and so forth.

Solution 1 is more reliable, but loses some resources. Solution 2 is less reliable, and will cost you a LOT of resources if it fails to happen, or preserve your already spent resources in the form of whatever tier your starbase has reached by now if it succeeds.

Either way, coordinate with your fellow fleetmates, help each other to pass through this, and most importantly, DO NOT let him divide you in any way.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

Legal action? Really? Unless you have invested significant real world (I mean significant (you'd need to exceed a small claims case >$10,000, and can prove legitimate damages this would be nothing more than folly).

OP If you go this route, please.. oh please... keep us informed... I would love to read the court transcripts on that one.

2 leaders of the fleet you don't like. Now you're on the forums asking for the fleet owner to be replaced? What a silly thread.

Ive even seen 1 reply saying take legal action, stating virtual item theft is illegal. Eh how do you work this out, you pay for a license to use the software, at no point do you ever own anything.

I would just boot you from our fleet for being a whiner.

I would hate to think i could go off and fight another war for 9 months at a stretch, only to come home and find 2 or 3 little whiners from my fleet (that didn't get on with the leaders anyway) managed to talk cryptic/pwe into booting me from my own fleet and promoting them instead.

If you mean the Dutch thing with (game with a town called Lumbridge since the forums here censors the game's name), there were real world things also involved in that. Real life threats at knifepoint. That is a lot different than this.

Ah... yes... Account Hacking... THAT is a crime... but it does not apply in this case. The d**k who did this did not hack any accounts, did not infact do anything other than trick a leader into reinstating him, with all the powers of a leader...

I am not going to take time finding a youtube vid of a Ric Flair promo calling himself GOD. But they exist. Some funny stuff too. :D

Personally, I'd just quit and join a fleet far, far away from these yabbos (Disturbed Guy and Stupid Guy who re-promoted Disturbed Guy.) At the rate it's going, you're probably better off even just taking your chances with a spamvite fleet.

I would like to stress that he is middle aged :) Some serious "i was picked on in high school" stuff coming back I think. For now I'm just waiting to see what happens. He's pouting to anyone who will listen (playing the victim I'm told). Like we're all out to get him lol. I'm not suing him, we're not even in the same countries.

A lot of people are acting like I'm super bent outta shape over this, I gotta say I'm not personally. Still a game right? Its different for a few other people who put wayyyy more time onto it than I have. I gotta look out for my really invested flleeties cuz we dunno what hes gonna do. He could disband it it he felt like.

It was a simple question, what do you guys think I can do, and I got helpful and seriously missed the point (I'm lookin' at you soldierboy "onlineangel"+others, didn't read the op) answers. Thanks to all the helpers, I'm still mostly hoping he just calms down, I've never seen a grown man flip out like this. We all skype, although I've removed him now as he only seems to have verbal abuse left in his dictionary. He was trustworthy until he very suddenly wasn't is all I can say.

That reminds of a similar thing before how you put that last post. A guild from another game I was involved with (STO didn't take with that crew as only myself and one other plays this game). But in another game, a guy went all crazy out the blue. He used to joke a lot about drinking and we all took it as just that joking. But come to find out he really had a problem with alcohol. Suddenly flipping out and stuff when he went on a drunk rage.

You might be dealing with someone like that.

    Without splitting hairs here.....

1 the guy was a leader
2 it can be said he did nothing wrong
3 the dude threw a fit and is acting like a child
4 As far as the powers that be, its his word against your word, a.k.a he said she said

DRAMA, it comes with fleets/guilds/ etc.

Tips, DO NOT join a 50 man fleet ( larger ) unless they are a tried and true bunch, there are a few out there that would rather quit gaming then tolerate this childish TRIBBLE.

Keep your group in touch with each other, inactive folks who cant bother to sign in or stay in touch need to be removed

I DO NOT think the devs will get involved, but the only way they would even think about it , is if you had at least 10 or this 50 players group send in the same tickit, complaining about the same guy, you might then get some action taken.

At the end of the day, all you have is , to tell this dude to stop being a child, but you might end up getting kicked, and frankly , I would have already left.

Dont be too concerned over your starbase, it does suck, but there are alot of small groups chipping away, and I know a few good big fleets have really been hauling butt on em, so you can find a better group to join:rolleyes:

Sorry for the nonsense you had to go through OP.

Almost sounds like my old fleet. We had a leader that would go around claiming he was a soldier and that he would be dispatched often to conflicts. He was nothing but a faker that was stringing people along.

He basically made everyone quit his fleet with his deceit and attitude and then he replaced them with people who didn't know that he was full of TRIBBLE.

He was probably some stupid kid who got off on toying with others.

That kind of TRIBBLE made me swear off PvE fleets mostly.

Doing that was nothing at all against OP of course, I do totally understand what happened to you. I hope that you can get this fixed somehow, be it getting rid of Mr. Nutty, or going to make a new fleet.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

Its the "I'm a soldier" TRIBBLE slung in that proves this guy is a vapid tool. I'm a pilot guys, I fly airplanes, but claiming to be that on the internet even though its true is stupid because I'm just mixing in with all the 14 year olds claiming to be doctors and marines and anything remotely cool. You guys still don't really know if I'm a pilot because you're not idiots. If you claim to have a cool job (or area stud or rich or whatever) on the internet EVERYONE on the internet immediately knows odds are you're either a tween trying desperately to look cool/tough/smart OR really are but are still too stupid to understand anonymity. Its not relevant, it never was, it makes you look like a tool.

    I didn't say I was a soldier? I gave an example.

You hate me, or people like me?
That seems extreme and very judgemental, do you know me personally? You hate me because my opinion is different to yours? How tolerant of you.

I could sit here and debate the ins and outs of it all but to be honest, it's not worth my time.

You've shown no maturity in this thread. You've made assumptions, been judgemental, insulting and rude.

Given star bases and the effort that can go into them, it isn't necessarily the best answer to just leave without even at least trying for a solution.
