This is a heads up to the leaders of the fleets of STO. We recently had a player that was trusted in the fleet. He waited until he earn a high rank in my fleet and then he stole from our fleet bank and left.
This did not effect me at all but it does effect the players that are new to STO and need this gear. Players like this player ruin other peoples experiences with fleets. Players like him should not be allowed to be in fleets.
There needs to be punishment for people for conduct fleetbank theft. If a dev happens to read this. Please come up with an idea on how players can be punished for bank theft.

The punishment is called: Fleet politics.
If you can't take care, others won't do it for you. Sounds harsh, but that's reality.

If you see this player in game, im not saying to never allow him in your fleet. Im just saying to watch him. I didn't and he ripped our fleet off.
Sorry, no such thing... technically, there is no bank/robbing raiding in STO. The player only used the access that was granted them by the fleet leadership. He had access to withdraw, and he did.
My fleet life has become some much happier since I realized this little nugget. I dont restrict my bank too much. Everyone with rank above recruit can withdraw (within limits). If I didnt want that much taken from the bank, I would set the limit lower.
The only fair way I can think of to manage fleet banks etc. is to put a minimum vote system into the fleet banks wherefore anyone trying to withdraw anything would have to receive at least three or more votes of approval from other fleet members before the withdraw of the items could take place. This of course would be with the exception of the fleet owner.
Thank you Johnny. I have taken the steps to restrict it. I thought i was too strict to start with but the player that "stole" from us proved me wrong. I'll have to discuss bank policy with my fleet counsel. Thank you again
Seems overly complicated to me... I'd rather see the dev's focus on gameplay, new content, etc... instead of trying to fix an issue that was caused by a deliberate decision by a person with sufficient privlidges to manage the bank tabs, the fleet leader who granted that person permission, or some combination of the two.
Its a non-issue. Dev's shouldn't give it a second thought.
Let me make sure I got this right. Someone in your fleet spent [insert X time here] building up trust with your fleet members, contributed to projects, was actively involved (obviously if he was getting promoted), and clearly demonstrated he has the calibre needed to contribute to your fleet. And he did all this with the sole purpose of emptying all the items out of your fleet bank and jumping ship with all of his riches?
Okay. Well, I can think of better ways of doing that if I was a thief. The motive sounds sketchy to me, almost like you are saying he was some kind of sleeper agent who would rather gain items very slowly with trust rather than by earning more items by playing the game.
Are you sure this isn't some kind of vendetta against another member, maybe your leader for doing something? I don't really understand how this is theft.

If I were running a fleet, the only people who would have unlimited withdrawal or large amounts of withdrawal capability would be the fleet leader/founder and the 2nd in command(s). Everyone else would be tightly restricted, especially when it came to data samples. That's the only way you can ensure some safety. . .either that, or be a better judge of character.

Well, its not that easy... being a fleet leader also means you have to walk that line between whats good for the fleet, and still being attractive to potential recruits... and continue to be attractive to existing members.
You also have a limited number of tools/settings at your disposal.
Rule #1 of any fleet, clan, guild, company, organization, or non-profit...
Don't give someone access to the money / resources unless you absolutely trust them (or unless you've placed strict limits on exactly what they can do).
If you haven't learned that, you deserve to be cleaned out.

Here's an idea. If anyone knows anyone within their fleet that has webpage design experience, why not have them build a page where fleet leaders can join together and communicate back and forth about players that do this and other activities that we as fleet leaders would deem "criminal"? You could feature a red list where we list players who are notorious for behavior like this, that way other leaders of fleets don't have to risk their fleets being harmed by players like this and since it would be a site that existed outside of STO, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.
Just something to consider

Don't store Mk XII purple stuff in your fleetbank. If you want to share something with someone else, let yout fleet members help eachother.
My fleet has only one box where we keep really good stuff. Only senior members have access (3 players), honestly our fleet doesn't have much stuff worth stealing.

OP, you need to edit your post to remove the alleged offenders name. It will only get you unwanted mod attention.

The fact that you promoted him to a rank that allows taking sufficient items indicates that this is not the case.
