I am very frustrated with the exchange, and in in game chat, it seems like everyone just expects it to not work properly.
Basically, lots of things that are listed don't show, even if you're nowhere near the 400 item limit.
What gives? And why do things show differently if you search for them on All Quality vs. Their Specific Quality. For example, mystery lock boxes. Search for them on all quality, you get them starting about 25k. Search for them on blue, they show about 50k (yesterday).
Today, Tactical Plasma infuser. Search for them on all quantity, a bunch show up including blues. Search for them on blue quality, NONE show up! Maddening that you have to check both ways to look for a deal because they won't populate in searches that they should!

That issue has been around for about 5 or 6 months now. The problem has just gotten worse. Now you have to use the drop down and the category to find items. Previously it was just recommended.
There's a couple lengthy threads on the subject but giving links appears to offend folks around here. Suggesting that you search for exchange also seems to offend other players.
But no, there wasn;t anything in the latest patch notes about the problem either.
Thanks for answering. Would you mind PMing? It is often easier to search for something you're familiar with than something you're not, which is why the "F YOU SEARCH!" responses are not very community building (thanks for not giving it to me!)!
The exchange doesn't need to be fixed. It needs a complete revamp :
- Looking for doffs is a hell. You have basically zero filter on such a complex issue. Seducive atrometric klinks scientists can be sorted below honorable andorians or thelepatic betazoids, without any loigic, and so on. Don't ask me why, it's beyond my understanding.
- Looking for big stacks of commodities is a hell. You can't do such a thing because you can only see the 400 first items and because you can't look for a specific amount of commodities. This is a hell for buyers but for sellers too since we can post only 40 items at the same time.
The game has a lot of different items. The exchange is very limited. Hopefully it will be improved as soon as possible, since it's now used to make money (tradeable stuff you can buy from the c-store).
In the meantime, there are poor workarounds. You should look under specific categories, just enter a part of the name of what you want and look into categories. Be smart though, think to the primary use of a given item. eg : phaser turrets are ship devices.

They fixed that weeks ago. Look at the first drop down when the game comes back up. You have a number of different sort options now. The last one on the list (I forget what the label is) is a reversed sort for stacks. Starts with the largest stack and goes down.
Hope this helps. I didn;t realize it either until I found it by mistake.
Since we are talking about the broken exchange, is no one bothered by the scroll bars anymore? I absolutely hate having to scroll on every page to see all items, no matter how I re-size the window or how I adjust my search.

I hope they take their time, there is a lot of money to be made by selling items for higher prices because people don't know how to search for the cheaper stuff. The items usually show up under "all" when its getting close to expiring. Only way to make money now with all the jerks with more EC and dil then sense flooding the market with underpriced goods like 60k uncommon unreplicateable materials when it is clearly worth 100k each now in s6.
So without getting into too many details, the bug that was affecting exchange searches is fixed. However, because of how the exchange works, any items posted on the exchange after Season 6's launch and before last thursday's patch are still broken.
Once the broken auctions start to expire, you'll start to see the exchange return to normal.
In the meantime, searching for items by category should work fine for even the broken exchange listings.

2,000 CXP Bonus Pool has no category, and searching for one that I just put up for sale with "any quality" fails to reveal it. Your fix is not working. Epic fail.
It can be found restricting the search to rare, but not with "any quality".

Actually this is expected behavior. When you do an exchange search, it looks over the list of auctions from oldest to newest, and will eventually time-out before looking over every single item posted on the exchange. So the newest exchange items may not show up right after posting them.
That's not new behavior, by the way, the exchange has worked like that for a long time.

I think your definition of "expected" and those of players are not the same thing. When you post something you expect to be able to find it. Having the code time out too quickly may improve performance, but at the cost of user frustration if items are invisible because of the way the code processes. Also, there's an argument to be made for searching in the opposite direction, from newest to oldest. Newer items tend to be cheaper, and people are more interested in seeing the lowest prices, not the oldest/highest. In short, the code's search priority is, IMO, TRIBBLE-backwards.

For customer relations with a problem like this the solution would be to thus assign these type of items a category that a user such as ourselves could use in some manner of common sense such as most lockbox items would be viewed as reward packs so it would be fine there.

Long Time = Since F2P went live. Why the change then? Because your Auction Server handles both the Dilithium Exchange and the EC Exchange. The hordes of F2P players hammered and broke the server capacity which brought both exchange services crashing down.
That's when a dev made categories more prominent to search results. Saying "we will get better results" when a category is used. This actually reduced the server load by filtering our searches. Good for you but we have had search problems ever since.
The biggest Fail part of this is a lot of your items don't have categories or use some nebulous or unintuitive one. If you are going to stick with Item Types to keep your server from being overloaded someone needs to sit down and make sure each and every item has an appropriate category. And that category should be visible on Tool Tips and Right-Click-Info.

sooo...
you are saying people post to much TRIBBLE like LockBoxes and consumables on the Exchange so the process times out because the database is to big.
I don't mind the fact that I have to search by category now. I understand there are about a gazillion items on the exchange and it stresses out their servers when there are thousands of players making full-inventory searches every minute.
However I wish they would go through and make sure that every item actually fits in a category. For instance, the 1 and 8 hour skill bonuses state in their description that they are an "inventory item" however you can search Commodities, Personal Devices, and Reward Packs, and not find them. I can only find them doing a full search of the exchange.
Also, the most aggravating thing of all, is the "unable to complete transaction, please try again later" bug. It is seemingly random, but it infuriates me when I am looking for an item with a specific modifier, or an officer with a specific trait, and I find just one in my price range for sale, and I can't buy it because of this stupid bug.

Hey,
Sorry to say but this is still not fixed...
items I put up for sale today are still not showing...

We need a food/drink category.

Prior to the advent of the latest DOFF pack from the Zen store, the value of Strange Alien Artifacts was over 1 million.
As for items not showing, I have plenty of very expensive items listed that I see just fine. Don't search in "All" and use the drop-downs to focus your searches and your ability to find things should improve. This is a polite way of saying that you need to learn how to use the exchange. Doesn't mean that the exchange doesn't have some serious bugs, but it's not as broken as some people think it is.
The exchange is actually working well for me as long as I search in specific categories and not under the "all" tab. The problem is when I don't know what category an item falls under. For instance, what category are the Fleet Credit Booster thingies under?
As for the Strange Alien Artifacts, they are basically just returning to their "normal" price range. They drastically dropped in price right after the Reinforcements Doff pack was released because tons of people were buying them in hopes of getting a Tuffli Freighter, and one of the side-rewards in the pack were Strange Artifacts. A wise man might have bought up a stockpile of them during the craze of everyone buying the packs to get a new ship. I was not a wise man.
I'm also liking the sort by price-per-item filter. Super handy when looking for any stackable items. Now people can't just flood the market with over-priced singles until it pushes out all of the reasonably priced stacked items. When did they implement this? With the start of Season 6?

Everything I'm listing is showing, for the most part. I'm just still seeing different results when I filter in ways that should show items both ways.
Maddening.

any chance of a doff trait search for exchange??

There is also a sudden increase in the price of items - Strange Alien Artifacts have shot up to 900,000+ credits from a low of the high 500's.
However, personnel that I list seem to be showing. Only high dollar items are not showing.
This sucks. It is enough to make me want to quit playing.
