I played several, with pugs, and in all we got to 4rth. When wave 5 comes in is usually overwhelming, takes out some of us immediately and then destroys the transport in a few seconds
Only done PUG's so far, and gotten to Wave Five on all of them, and died there. The best one was when there were 3 Heavy Escort Carriers (Myself included) an Oddy, and a Defiant. One of the other carriers had the repair doodads and everyone knew how to heal the transport, but there's like no time between wave 4 and 5 to recuperate at all so as soon as 4 was gone we got slammed hard and everyone pretty much died at once.
Wave 5. Those bio neurals tear through my shields like a wet paper towel even with TT or RSP up  if I do survive I can take out the turret which is immensely helpful at least.
The only way to reach level 8/9 is with a very good team which know how to make the most efficient builds (This would be a very good PvP group)
And on top of that, require a very good strategy. (Personally with our Panda fleet we made it to level 9 with the last modification to that mission anyway on tribble, i dont think we will bother doing it again.)
Its fun but it is hard at the same time when you can get hit once and your full shields and full hull does nothing to protect you from instantly being destoryed.
I just find it odd that you fail the simulation called "Now Win Scenario". I mean judging by the name you cant win it so why do you fail it for the freighter being destoryed. It sounds like it keeps getting harder and harder till the freighter finally gets destoryed reguardless.
Bit of a cheat by cryptic in that the 'waves' come from all different directions, with the occasional '1 hit kill' bright white pulse (not a warhead) that jumps from ship to ship killing them instantly.
I have yet to identify what it is, but its similar to a shard from Crystiline entity, it kills in 1 hit then jumps from your ship and insta kills another team mate, and then jumps again. I have seen it wipe out 3 people (instakill) in 3 seconds...

So far what I'm seeing in both PuGs and games with fleetmates is getting to wave 5 before losing the freighter. I usually survive but the freighter dies after a couple minutes. A buddy and I did both get destroyed out of nowhere in wave 3 or 4 last night and I'm thinking it was a bio-neural warhead hitting from behind...

I think it was wave 4 on Holodeck. I remember getting to 5 once, but I think that was actually on Tribble. Anyway, once the Bio-neural Warheads start flying, things take a big turn for the worse.
Those things are just nasty -- the damage they do is crazy and shooting them down is not as easy as you'd think it might be. If only my ship had armor that good!
Wave 6 with fleet members, and almost wave 6 with a pug, mostly for the reasons as mentioned above.
I don't mind the Bio-neural warheads, those aren't an issue, but sheesh, they are TOO much TOO fast. I understand the need to make it hard, including possibly 'no win', but at least make the challenge more spread out. I mean, if people know they are probably gonna lose at wave 5 because of the warheads, why should they bother doing anything once all that comes in?
If the challenge is spread out, getting harder of course as time goes on, but not with such a spike in difficulty, I think people would be far far more inclined to do it.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
the NWS is fun, but really sucks for gathering fleet marks. For the same amount of time you can do one of the ground ones that award triple that.

I haven't even tried the mission yet!
I think the step up from 3 to 4 is quite steep. the introduction of the bio warheads really changes the match and they fire very quickly.
So far it's fun.

Bad team setup had two ATROX that had problems to turn fast enough as we had attackers from three sides.
The 30s death penalty finished us off.
Will see that we next time run a full premade and rofl stomp atleast two more waves ahead.

It's winnable. There are only 10 waves.
Isometric charge?

It does more damage each jump it does. Don't stay too close to your allies and it won't one shot you.

on tribble though i was in a pug that made it to 7 or 8
Good group. We just fell apart in 5.
Thought we had it for a bit until we lost communication w/each other. I agree that the scaling is a bit too exponential, however.
Both Pugs and Fleet teams.
