More KDF Species, what would you like to see?

majesticmsfcmajesticmsfc Member Posts: 1,401 Arc User
edited July 2012 in Klingon Discussion
Well it's a topic of great interest to me and I am realistic and know this will probably never happen, but what new species would you like to see added to the KDF faction?

A friend of mine suggested the Sona, I think they would make a good addition, Sona ships and uniforms would be great and fit in well I think. Another species I'd personally like to see is the Suliban (not the genetic ones, the standard ones), another unique species that I think would fit in fairly well.

Lastly while I doubt this could work due to distance and such, the Kazon I'd love to see but I could see this as a highly unpopular choice for good reason.

So what would you KDF fans like to see?

While the Son'a were a foe of the Federation, they were allied with the Dominion. That said, I would not mind seeing the Son'a colonies that chose not to return to Ba'ku (or leave the Alpha Quadrant with the rest of the Dominion) conquered by the Empire.

The Kriosians would be appropriate for the KDF faction, as they were subjugated by the Klingon Empire.

I would also like to see the Ferengi become playable in the KDF, primarily because while Grand Nagus Rom is allied with the Federation, the Ferengi Alliance is neutral, and while Ferenginar is an ally of the Federation, the Ferengi do not want to become a member world. This neutrality and willingness to help the Klingon Empire would make sense if they chose to follow the path of honor -- or the path of profit, as it were.

I would also like to see the Klingon Empire conquer the Iotians, and return them to their 22nd-century culture. Because I want to see a bunch of 1930's gangsters commanding KDF ships.

Remans. Really. This way I could get my hands on Romulan ships without Romulans in the KDF !

Kazon... uhh... well... only thing I would like to see from them in KDF space is the debrie from their ships.

Though my choices would be.... Human (we play all sides) and Malon (Klinks need some delta quadrant pakled love too )

A big contender against Humans in the KDF, they are after all the signature species in the Federation though Pakled and Ferengi would work.

I don?t want more species for the KDF, I want some things to wear for those already existing. :(

There is a reason that my Fed characters have 12+ different outfits and all my KDF characters only have one. ;)

I too would like more uniforms, it's one of many things the KDF really need. I also seems to use the Leather shirt and KDF Academy vest armour. We really are lacking there I agree.

On the subject of birds, what about the Lorians, whom may be related to the Xindi, perhaps they are the Xindi Avians. Path to 2409, Volume 23, Chapter 3.

lol, my latest KDF Alien is modelled to look like a Hunter in-game, well the closest one can get using what we've been given.

More species for the KDF is nice, but I really think they need to expand on optional uniforms for the KDF. The Klingons alone could offer alot of options. Some of the stuff is already in the game. Not to mention uniform items from the TV shows and movies that are still unused.

Oh, and I know it's an oxymoron to say this: But more clothing options for the Orions.

    *ahem*

And while we're at it, how about the outfit the Gorn captain had from TOS? Speaking of Gorn, how about the racial option to have the classic Gorn look? It was once in the game.

The Dominion really deserve to be a full-on faction. Complete storyline in service and glory to the Founders, playable Vorta and Jem'Hadar, as well as the full lineup of canon Dominion warships and weapons. Canon uniforms and ground equipment. A chance to play out a Star Trek campaign from the eyes of the Dominion, as well as the outlook from that of a Vorta or the Jem'Hadar.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a campaign to play out in the vicious but humorous way of doing things like Weyoun would?

Or playing a combat oriented life of the Jem'Hadar, complete with their own code of honor?

Well that is one heck of a list I got...

    The Sheliak:
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Sheliak

The Anticans and Selay (although they were applying for Federation membership I would assume that got turned down whey their representives started eating each other...)
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Lonely_Among_Us_(episode)

I agree about the Son'a assume we get the Tarlc and Ellora as well (their subject races)

I also agree about the Kazon. Maybe the KDF sent a slipstream vessel to the Delta Quadrant and allied with the Kazon. If the Kazon got some Alpha Quadrant tech they would be quite formidable. If not the Kazon then the Trabe.

Satarrans, infiltrators who would make the Undine proud.
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Satarran

    The T'Lani or the Kellerun
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Armageddon_Game_(episode)

    The Vaadwaur.
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Vaadwaur

Talarians. They have fought wars with the Federation:
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Talarian

The Yridians, they had a neat looking ship that was never seen again.
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Yridian_starship

The Devore might make it on to the list.
    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Devore

    as would the Krenim:

Yeah who says they didn't get conquered by the KDF after being turned down for Federation membership. The Dominion War left all factions not well off and even if the Federation did oppose it they weren't in a great shape to do much about it.
    tlamstrike wrote: »

Well there are three species right there, cool I din't think of their subject species.

Or perhaps with all the transwarp gates floating around the Klingons captured a Borg one in the Delta Quadrant, one near Kazon space, far from Borg space.

They have a similar sense of honour to the Klingons, so they could be compatible.

    Miradorns

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Miradorn

and we can finally get this ship in game

Um, not sure how we're going to have playable twinned Miradorn.

Besides, that same ship configuration was used by the mercenaries in the TNG episodes Gambit, parts I and II.

    http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081004050261/memoryalpha/en/images/thumb/9/9f/Baran%27s_mercenary_vessel%2C_aft.jpg/606px-Baran%27s_mercenary_vessel%2C_aft.jpg

So just call it a merc ship and make it available cross-faction.

I seriously wish they stop all the cross faction stuff, it's cheap/lazy and really doesn't give either faction any uniqueness. Plus Federation should use Federation looking ships not alien ones imo.

I have to admit I like the look of the Skorr in that one picture and would totally play one.

But if we have cats and birds I would like to see a race inspired by the Traveller race: The Vargr. If the Caitians and Ferasans are cat-people then the Vargr can be described as Wolf-people. The Vargr were pretty wild, their society was dominated by the pack instincts of their canine ancestors, and while they could take up any trade or business that humans could they often were known as pirates and raiders. Their instincts balanced their willingness to
fight to become the leader of a pack versus their willingness to follow a strong alpha male. They are totally the kind of guys tht would be at home in the Empire.

Unfortunately the name Vargr is surely owned by the guys who own Traveller. On the other hand, you can't copyright the idea of wolf-people, any more than you can cat-people or bird-people. If necessaary you can show prior art in the form of ancient Egyptian artwork that shows people with animal heads and werewolf stories that feature a humanoid wolf-like creature.

Here's a link to some stuff about the Vargr:

    The Chalnoth

are warlike anarchists who respect strength.
I could imagine they'd be willing to throw in with the Klingons.
At the very least they'd make a good mercenary force.
And they've got a rather nice smile

Kazons - maybe they will add some Kazon ships (even if in boxes). Imagine that in Delta lost a Klingon Bird Of Pray not a Voyager and they meet Kazons - that would be fun! ;)

    Chalnots - good idea!

P.S. I love old game: Star Trek Birth of Federatnion, when I play klingons I always wanted to have Naussicans and Chalnots in my empire and look one race we have ;)

I haven't read the whole thread but when I read this I just thought "Klingon Augments", we have them ingame as doffs and maybe a playable KDF augment could be interesting and allow for Klingons that look like the TOS ones.

You're not alone with this idea.
In fact it has been around since they made the Joined Trill available for the KDF.
My counterpropsal back then was to give the KDF Klingon Augments and just give them the same stats as the Joined Trill and explain the bonus stats with augmentation.

    Humans.

I don't mean augments or mutants of any kind either. I mean regular humans from Earth.

If a Klingon can serve in Starfleet, then it's realistic that a human can serve in the Klingon Empire. Whatever Klingons may think of Starfleet humans, they wouldn't mind if regular humans were on their side, as long as they benefited the Empire. As far as trust goes, it can be earned.

This is different from the 'alien' customization because humans come with unique traits like "leadership" and "teamwork". Plus, there would also have to be human NPCs in the Empire, with their own things to say.

It's very unrealistic that an iconic race from the Empire can join Starfleet but not vice versa.

Yeah Cryptic's stance at not listening to customers is wrong, I feel your idea would be a better option to joined trills. I only have one for it's traits, I would prefer a Augment over a joined trill on the KDF.

What self respecting Klingon would serve in the Federation? Even Worf couldn't agree with how the Federation has gone, not wishing to support the Empire in their mission to stop the Undine, declaring a War that has nothing to do with them illegal. I am against Humans in the KDF, I'd rather just have a new unique KDF species with the Human traits (which I think Leadership is OP for a non-purchased species, should be half what it is). If Humans were to be added it would be the first major step at folding the Empire into the Federation. If I was Cryptic I wouldn't want to open that can of worms, they have enough problems with unhappy paying customers already with just what they are doing with season 6.

Plus Humans are also boring, why play a Human, something you are day in and day out, when you can play a cool Alien like a Lethean, Orion, Vulcan etc.
