PW Linking, Remember Name BUG & Annoyance!

I decided to link my Cryptic Account with PWE. My login name was already in use by someone in PWE so I had to change it.

After linking, I can no longer use my Cryptic account to log in to the game. Which I thought was fine at first. Then I discovered the STO Game Client will not remember my PWE Account Name!

I have many characters and do lots of switching. Each and every time the game client does NOT remember my PWE name and puts my Cryptic name there instead. I have tried unchecking, and re-checking that box. I have tried exiting the game completely. NOTHING works!

Each and every time I switch characters I have to re-type my PWE account name because STO wants to use the Cryptic name which we cannot use any longer.

This is extremely annoying and is one of the reasons why I delayed so long to link my accounts. Cryptic or PWE or whoever is in charge of this merger. Please make remembering your PWE Account Name instead of your Cryptic Account Name a priority fix for the game client.

If you are forcing us to convert to PWE it was your duty to make sure the transition is smooth, BUG Free, and ANNOYANCE Free. Please make this right and fix this immediately!

    Yeah, I know it's REALLY lame. I liked my Cryptic name. I've had it for 2 1/2 years! Now I'm forced to have a PWE account? I don't mind making an account, but give us the option of keeping our details.

    It was said my name was already taken. I am very angry at this.

    The truly annoying part is not that our names were already taken. It's the game not remembering your PWE Name when you check the Remember My Username Box. It only remembers your Cryptic name which is different for me and can no longer be used.

    Yeah, I'm really not liking this. I get what they're trying to do, but...

    I noticed this bug also exists on the Tribble Server. The Game Client only remembers your Cryptic name.

    This problem will only grow larger when everyone is forced to create a PW Account. If their PW login differs from their Cryptic login the Remember My Name function will be broken.

    I had a PWE account with the same login as my cryptic account from a long time ago. I guess i got lucky, so my stuff never really changed much when i merged them several months ago.

    same here it's not really a issue for me but i can understand the frustration.

    Fortunately (knock wood or suitable substitute) I didn't run into any problems linking my accounts. Got to use the same username with both.

    What really bugged me was the forum name change and the password length restrictions. The longer the password the better in my mind with all kinds of different characters and I was fond of my old forum name.

    I feel for all the users of STO and the forums that have had to fight this unnecessary bug. It didn't need to be like this and PWE could have caused a lot less havoc if they had warned us and possibly asked for feedback or suggestions prior to doing it. Their game, their forum, their prerogative but it doesn't mean they did the right thing. No matter what their logic.

    I'm sure Cryptic probably got some much needed help and resource access to keep going. Sometimes though you pay for it with your soul.
