Stop nerfing the STFs and make them better and harder. Right now they DO NOT REQUIRE SKILL. Team content should use skill not Pew pew pew pew pew etc cause its all u do! As a sugjestion, if you insist to keep making stfs a faceroll, add another dificulty. STfs should be... Normal (as it is now) Advanced (Currently Elite) and Elite, Elite would drop Protos like current elites drop rare techs. But in Elites, borg have crits and Accuricy, they should never miss and they should heal eachother. So, Take current Elite Borg, give them a CritH of 2% and Give them...

Plz atleast try my idea, this could introduce strtagy Pve, these NPCs resemble how players play.
At the end Loot bags will always contain:
3 EDCs (10% chance for 6 EDCs) (During STF event, +2 EDCs)
20% chance for a rare Tech

And give STF bosses Transfer shield str 3 (the 1 tact cube has)
You know, it's rare in game I agree with you - ever.
But this is true - fix the one shots, and over powered ground Elites - but stop TRIBBLE with the ELITE STFs if you want to nerf something nerf normal, but leave the Elite for those of us who like a challenge eh?
Have you ever pugged an STF? That's just painful. I highly suggest "The Cure". I have bets with my fleetmates on how long it will take to fail it and have the Kang destroyed. If you really want a challenge try it on Elite!
Sometimes you get lucky, but most times it's failed, and hard.

This: They changed Cure Space to make it easier to beat with Pick Up Groups. CSE is freaking hard. Mainly due to incompetence, but the mechanics do factor in as a genuine problem.

I'd rather there more of a distinction between "end game content". Comparable mmo's have "raid" level content and then puggable stuff.
The puggable stuff gets you loot that you gear up to go into raids with.
So if you wanted to work on teamwork and gear out, then do some fleet action type stuff. And then when you're ready and are geared up with a group, then go do STFs.
At least how sounded like it was supposed to be before STFs were all queuable.
That way, STFs can just stay focused on being challenging and drop very rare quality stuff (weapons, equipment, chance for proto tech). While some fleet actions can focus on dropping the rare loot.
Saves the headache of running "elites" and getting rare borg salvage/tech.
Here is why (please see it as my personal opinion, and not as a general one):
Group PVE is all about getting a NPC drop its numbers, get destroyed, then looted.
I don't care who his mommy is, where his stepfather died or what he liked to drink in the morning (before getting crushed by me).
Getting in, getting on with it and getting out.
I don't care for realism, great KIs (it only means unfair or still stupid) or such things. The intended mechanics shall work and then I'm fine with it. And giving stackable Heals and Resists tend to just stretch fights without giving any kind of additional challenge, it just would mean for STO: get rid of any ships, use escort, put "DPS" as much as possible and shoot the hell out of them... so nearly the same as before ... just more lenghty ... does this mean more challenge? I'm afraid not. It just means taking more time to get what I want from a "I don't care for you"-NPC.
On the other hand:
Group PVP is all about having fun with real people, getting them to know, exchanging tactics and wondering a lot ("Whoa, how did he heal this?!").
I care for my teammates, and I care for my opponents (I dislike ganking very much), though some MMOs tend to ignore such things by having systems which actually don't allow for taking care.
And there is nothing funnier or more challenging than having a great fight (which may take its time).
STO still has a healthy social community (in comparison to others; ya there are dickheads, but it's not the norm), so I like PVP on the people's side (I dislike STO PVP solely for balanceproblems, but its worked on).
Elite is supposed to be hard...HOWEVER...I have noticed the Kang tends to be dieing ALOT more latley, since about 2 patches ago. Just fight harder is my suggestion.
What "they" should be fixing is our Forum Avatars...STO is a older group of players and we do not like being treated like pre-teens.

All they involve is slowing whittling down inanimate objects.... its DULL DULL DULL. There is very little combat or skill involved. Would be nice to have an STF where there is actual combat. Donatra is the only decent part of any of them
The grounds are just as bad. They could be fun but the constant remodulating gets really really really old.
Would love some NON BORG STFs and STFS that dont require killing structure after structure.

After running the "Assimilate" mission, I have no desire whatsoever to run a ground STF. OOOOH, I get five shots, then have to derp with my weapon!

Having to run these stupid missions hundreds of times to get the proto tech, and you want to add to the frustration? What, is it not a suitable trophy if anyone with mere patience can get one?
I see both sides to this. Yes some folks like a challenge but seriously pugging Cure has been a severe pain especially as of late.
could that be because of the freaking spawn timer? I know there are other issues but when you have people sitting around watching a countdown clock and staggering when they can get back in it tends to make it that much more tedious. There have been times when Im the only one still up and have like 4 mobs on me. The I die. Then one guy gets in and he dies..... because of the optional timer people are just super gung ho to get back to the game and get waylayed.
Heres the thing though... Once I get the Optional for Cure, I NEVER PLAY IT AGAIN. I suspect that a many people do the same.
There should be an easier tier of STF. You need to acclimate people to teaming and assume that the average player is not inclined to.
EDC should be awarded in 1, 2, and 3 -- based on difficulty.
Easy mode only drops common gear tokens. Rare gear tokens drop in normal (the current regular mode). The Mk XII tokens continue to drop in Elite mode.
Here's where my twist comes in:
Collecting sets would affect your loot bag at the end.
Having a Mk X set would get you loot bags with better odds.
Having a Mk XII set and a Mk X set would increase the quality of your reward bag again.
Basically, you have three possible personal loot drops. (You could have more. Just saying here that you have three.)
Your accolade status determines which loot item spawns for you.
So while people could go straight into Elite and go for Mk XII, their odds of getting it would be low.
However, by doing things in a certain order, collecting sets and maybe completing optionals, you make Elite mode drops better, therefore making the most productive route to train your way through the STFs without gating them either.
Although if it were up to me, you'd need to complete the optionals in an STF to unlock the next difficulty.
And the Cure and Infected Ground would probably both get nerfs on both normal and easy mode. (The only ground optional I have yet to see completed is Infected. IMHO, optionals should be completed by PUGs rather easily on lower difficulty modes and should have better rewards on higher difficulty modes.)
You know, it's rare in game I agree with you - ever.
But this is true - fix the one shots, and over powered ground Elites - but stop TRIBBLE with the ELITE STFs if you want to nerf something nerf normal, but leave the Elite for those of us who like a challenge eh?
Okay. Let me get this straight.
Both of you are complaining that the STFs are too easy, but then you both say they contain elements that are too difficult.
If you guys are saying certain STF characters are too hard, while saying the STFs are too easy, I see a slight contradiction in which is the basis of both arguments.
Its rather funny. Once you both came out to say the STFs are too easy, you both go into a rant about the more difficult aspect of the missions.
Personally, I think some of the STFs are too hard, and other STFs are just where they need to be.
Where I see the conundrum...
If Cryptic/Perfect World wants to sell more high level items, they should tweak the STFs to accommodate the majority. What level has the bigger pool of players? Do the elite players make up the majority, or do the normal and mid-range players make up the majority?
According to a few recent Cryptic interviews, the number of players who play KDf are in the minority. Therefore, I will assume that the elite players are also in the minority.
If Cryptic wants to make more money, through selling more high-end c-store items, they should tweak the STFs to accommodate the bigger consumer pool. Normal and/or mid-ranged players.
You cannot make money by catering to a handful of players.
Everyone should have an opportunity to enjoy this game.
I never said anything in STFs is too hard. They require no skill, why nerf them, if i can 2 person an STF whats the point? Might as well let me do private matches and start with 2.
My changes sugjest keeping STFs the same and adding a new teir of STFs with the changes. The new teir would be for elite players who want a challenge, possibly add a gearscore thing, maybe u need a minimum of all mk X blue to join. Advanced should reuqire all Mk X green to join, and Normals should require all Mk IX whites to join, Mk VIII Purple=Mk IX white
It would only work if you give no other incentive than the "challenge" with any new modes, which would reduce the interested crowd even further...
Why I say this?
It's simple, take the "I play STFs"-Crowd, they usually do it for the gear, not for the fun, the mechanics or being nice to each other (at least not after the 100th succesful optional in 12 minutes elite run). So if you add a new step with new loot to get ... guess what ... the crowd wants it ... resulting in cries for nerfs etc. because it's too hard. And what would any sane company do? Nerf it, so the crowd is quiet ... you see dozens of examples on the MMO-market, best known maybe WoW:
Heroic Mode Raiding was for the Top of the Top Players invented, still most Raiders try Heroic because they think it's the usual curve. Go Normal (and/or LFR), then Heroic, get the best loot.
You don't get the crowd into the game, because it challenges few people, cater to the most, and you have success.
I am by no means a massive STF goer i hate them i hate doing them i hate how they have torn the story out of it. i hate how its split into 2 parts. I long for the days of old again a full story STF. i hate having to team up to do them i hate having to see morons blow up a nanite generator when everyone else is getting ready to or no one guards the gate and stops probes going through or someone decided its a good idea to blow up a borg cube releasing a torrent of over powered Raptors that take no interest in the ships attacking them but would rather attack a defenceless crippled klingon ship (that part makes no sense by there very nature the borg would attack the bigger threat)
Making them harder would be wrong. the only reason i am putting myself through this hell of STFs when i would rather be fighting the Breen or helping the Remans out over and over again is because of the reward. I want my MACO armour i want my OMEGA armour thats the only reason i do it and for you to say ohhh lets make it harder because i am bored is very selfish. I am not in a very well populated fleet and living in the UK kind of limits me to when i can play with my fleet since the majority of them are Americans.
I dont want a mission where i will pull what remains of my hair out because some idiot has gone and done something wrong and because its harder the mission becomes impossible. Sure make it harder add some accolade to it but not the reward not the nice gear that everyone wants (read as if i am crying)(but i am not really) i have had enough of playing STFs now i just want my armour now

You know. Lately I've gone into PUGs and had them party-wiped. IN SPACE.
Before the attrition spawn timer, it was almost impossible to get a total party kill, even with the n00biest of n00bs. Now it happens at least once a match. Even on ISE, which I consider to be babies-first-STF.
STF's were broken, but at least they were fun. But with all the "fixes". They've just become a slog. A boring, endless slog full of deaths, failed runs, botched PUGs, swearing, trolling, and all around not good feelings. I used to take pride in the fact that STO was an MMO that DIDN'T feel like grind, and I got many of my friends to play it. Now it does. It does very much feel like a grind, and I can't tell that to people anymore. :frown:
I have played Cure many times, after the patch, it felt very weak in its challenge. Although the bonus part was not made. Kang suffered mabye 10% to 20% damage overall for the entire run.
Even when one of the Cubes were taken down, and then comes the rush of extra enemy ships from the other Cubes, if left standing. It was 'handled' a bit too easy. It felt that way, after many times on Elite pre-patch it wasn't. The rush or urgency wasn't there on doing your most in that dire situation.
The Borg should have never been group content, the Borg should only be raid content(10+ players). The devs could go back and refine the Borg STF's so they are raid content, but their age is against them. A live and learn scenario that I can only hope they garnered insight from for future content.
Elite would drop Protos like current elites drop rare techs.
I truly hope not. At nearly 200 space STFs I have twice as many proto drops than I do rare techs on elites. They're great for giving you the virtual middle finger when they drop.

I heartily agree that they need to stop nerfing the STFs, or add a mode that is challenging (and where there is a reason to roll something other than a tac escort).
Adding things like EPtS and shield resistances, etc., to the borg would be great. It'd actually give sci ship shield stripping abilities some use in STFs. Right now, running a shield stripping build in an STF is so laughably fail it's really not funny.
in short: i agree 100% with the original post. make this like the real Star Trek Universe, not just another stupid game that disgraces the legacy of Star Trek.

Second issue is campers who join ESTFs PUGs.
PUGs are a fact fleet mates not always ready for STFs not matter the size., so dont say join a fleet.
You always have range of players and skills so when a camper joins and you a have one or more weak players its becomes hopeless.
We why dont we have GMs watching and kicking campers in the STFs.
I have reported a repeated camper and nothing done, he even taughts people to report to see if will get banned.
Mostly like he doesnt care as he will open another free account, using different ETC.

I hope you're just being sarcastic and know that you need to remodulate your weapons...

:frown:
Even when one of the Cubes were taken down, and then comes the rush of extra enemy ships from the other Cubes, if left standing. It was 'handled' a bit too easy. It felt that way, after many times on Elite pre-patch it wasn't. The rush or urgency wasn't there on doing your most in that dire situation.
Now, it has become...mundane...
That's the "derp with my weapon" part, yes.
And I know to use single-shot weapons.

So I'm not the only one. Thank God for that.....
Adding things like EPtS and shield resistances, etc., to the borg would be great. It'd actually give sci ship shield stripping abilities some use in STFs. Right now, running a shield stripping build in an STF is so laughably fail it's really not funny.
it suck right now that syatem is so diluted it is not even funny
