Alright, just real quick with any dev out there... I dunno how much I can say on the matter so I don't want to say much, but I want to double check that Jack Emmert did indeed send some of us emails, and that its not some kind of phishing scam to steal accounts.
I am not sure the Foundry forum is the right place to ask this. General Feedback or Startrek ONline Discussion sounds better suited, as well as possibly a PM to Stormshade.
I haven't checked my mail yet. If you're in doubt, don't open any links or attachments in the mail.
Considering that the 1 year anniversary is coming, it is not entirely impossible that there is some kind of new mail to customers going around...
Ha. I made the thread at 2 in the morning and seconds after realized "Maybe I should PM Stormshade..." but by that time it was too late. I was fairly confident it was authentic but... never know what can be exploited.

Thanks for the responses.
Now, if Jack had said he was Nigerian royalty... well...
Well, I was as vaguely clear as possible in my answer. I basically said I'd be more than happy to talk to him, but didn't give him any more information beyond that. I figure if he is the COO of Cryptic, he has access to my ACTUAL address considering you have to use it when you register your credit card.

Unless his account was TRIBBLE, I'm fairly certain it's legit - especially considering it was topical - albeit informal.
To clarify, no personal information was requested: just opinions about the company's product and availability for a conference call.
Jack has recently contacted a few community members he'd like to talk to about some things. Please feel free to respond, and rest assured that it is him.
If you have further questions regarding the PM you received, please feel free to PM myself, or Jackalope.
I'll send him an email and ask him to pop in here and confirm as well.

Thanks for pointing this thread out to me Darren!
Stormshade
Thanks for that. It was just hard to tell the complete legit status of the email because I'm not in the habit of getting emails from a company's Chief Operations Officer (if I was I wouldn't still be job searching). And unlike the forum, there was no yellow text to tell me it was indeed from a senior member of Cryptic.
Yep. It's me! I PM'ed some of the people whose stuff I had played on Tribble or whose posts I followed on these forums.
Sorry for the weirdness; honestly, you'd think I would have anticipated that people wouldn't know me!
Back in the days of CoH/V, I was known as Statesman and fairly recognizable on the forums. Since then, I've tried to let the Executive Producers of each project really be the spokesmen and I've tried to remain in the background. Sorry for any confusion!

Well, cool. I keep further comments on the matter confined to e-mail then.
LOL. You're assuming whatever was in Jackalope's mail was GOOD! He could be getting onto us about making some truly terrible stuff!
And no, I didn't mean to spill any beans, per se ... I just figured that if "I" didn't post something about it, two things would have happened. Either
1.) It was a phishing scam that devs were completely unaware of that endangered people's accounts, or
2.) Someone else OTHER than myself would come around and post something way more revealing than I would have. And in a way, that's kinda happened later in this thread. So ... oops.
In any case, I was trying to inquire while saving people's butts. And risking my own! I could have gotten a reprimand for all I knew.
Scooby-Doo and the Case of the Mystery COO Email is solved!
It wouldn't take a Great Dane and his drugged out hippy sidekick to figure out what the e-mail was about. Just scroll to the top of the d**n page and read what it says very carefully....
Guys, so far, this thread is pretty obscure and cryptic. I would suggest keeping it that way to avoid another flame war on the main forums. Please remember what happened with the... <fill in blank>.

Long time no see, Jack!
Don't know if you remember me but I was the crackpot PMing you back when the game first launched with the rants about "investment" and pushing that crazy screwball idea for weekly release episodes. Hope all is well.
I'm just a hare jealous of whatever is being cooked up. I got a bit too bogged down in grad school related plans (a third of the way through, 3.9 GPA so far) to get the Foundry testing beyond in the abstract (ie. lots of trying to create bugs and developing tricks, none of my missions published) and by a week ago, I'd become pretty convinced that no one but Zero and a few diehards would see any missions I published now so I've been holding out for map saving.

Shh!.
Cryptic will be here soon too erase your minds.
I nearly linked to the youtube clip with sisko saying "it's real"
Thanks for the responses.

This just flashed in my head.
That was hilarious! I found this related one.

Well, I answed his question but didn't give out any private info. This isn't my first day on the internet.
I thought it looks legit but confirming it can't hurt, right?
I thought about it, but I figured I wasn't the only one to get the e-mail and that another more enterprising player would do it.

And if Havraha hadn't spilled the beans on the forum, the community would have been none the wiser.

<speculation>
Congratulations to those who get offered writing or consultant positions on the team.

To those that received PMs: Did I get your hopes up?
Well, cool. I keep further comments on the matter confined to e-mail then.
I hope this is true! The STO Team could use the additional staff... just make sure a couple of em are dedicated to Exclusive KDF Content writing.
Would be nice.
