Question about map transitions

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
The mission I'm currently designing will include multiple map transitions, but I'm surprised to find myself stumped as to how to add additional map transitions to a mission. That is, if it's possible to do so. I haven't found any mission segments in the "Story" tab that state they can be used as or are map transitions.

If you can only have the initial map transition at the start of the mission, however, I am very dissapoint. :C

You can reach other maps if you link it to an waypoint ... maybe the best solution will be, do "wings" who you can access like you want.

Will try a lot, maybe its possible to interact with an object to get into a new area and get back again.

To transition you just place an objective that takes place on another map and it automatically adds a transition between.

Yes, several things can make you transition to another map.

    Example:
    Your on DS9 map
To go to, let's say, bridge interior map, just put a 'talk to contact' and place the character as one of the crewman on the bridge.

What will happen is that, once you reach that 'talk to contact' part of your mission tree, you will automatically transition to that map.

Hope that makes sense. It also works for other things besides 'talk to contact'. Just try it out and keep testing it with 'play map'.

The key is to choose a character, or ship, or enemy, or object that is on another map. The Foundry will automatically insert a transition marker that you can fill out.

Thanks, I managed to get the further map transitions to work, plus or minus some bugs that I'll need to deal with.

Here is a guide for quick reference:

I also cover this in the walkthrough tutorial:

I hope that helps. Understanding map transitions is certainly not the most intuitive aspect of the toolset. It stumped me too.

Thanks! I'm really glad I managed to find the main site myself, as well. *phew*

I also have a transition question.

I want to have a 'multi system' story. Now i know i can just have the player leave one map and then appear at the next but i want to have him/her travel though sector space. I played one UGC mission a few weeks ago where the author managed it, but i cannot figure out how to do this myself. STOwiki mentions it as possible but i'm not sure.

can anyone explain how it can be done?
