Remember the old "I want to be adressed by my self-selected rank?" issue?

Some people (actually, I am one of them, but I don't consider it a priority normally) don't particularly care about the STO rank system and choose the option to set their title to a lower rank then tehy actually are. That works relatively well when roleplaying among other players, but once it comes to player missions, it is ignored.

We now have the ability to use [Rank] within the Foundry to adress a player by rank. How much effort would it be for Cryptic to link this to the player-selected rank and not the rank he has according to the game mechanics?

This won't fix any "old" missions, but it would make the new Foundry content better at least in this regard.

The commanding officers on the navy ships are referred to as "the Captain" regardless of their actual rank. Therefore I skip the [rank] completely and use Captain in every situation.

I usually use Captain to address the player, but sometimes I'll use [Rank], it depends on what I feel my story requires, but I wouldn't object to having another expression-token, the more the merrier! :D

I generally just type in "Captain" when entering dialog unless it's an official meeting with an Admiral or Computer Recognition-esque things, then I'll use the [Rank]-thing.

I actually used the rank of RAUH and VA mockingly in my mission "State Secrets" - a Cardassian mocks you you for meddling in their affairs by toying with the mouthful title.

In my missions, your bridge officers will always refer to you as Captain, because that's what you are to them.

But other NPCs will use the [rank] instead. I like being called Vice Admiral everywhere. I think [rank] is fine as it is. What you want is a new option for [title].

Although, I would find it strange when NPCs referred to me as "Torpedo Target" or "Scourge of the Terran Empire"...

That's why it needs to be a little "smarter" actually then just [Title] - it would need the ability to distinguish rank titles and and other titles.

Though you might be correct that just writing "Captain" might cover the actual demands behind this. I don't think there are many players that set their rank to Commander or Ensign. ;)

My feelings regarding the RA designations, exactly.
