Q: bkzland: Will there be an option to buy the Guramba for an ingame currency, like the Nebula was available for Marks of Exploration?

A: As Stormshade has mentioned, we’ve been working on getting this added to the referral program as a Klingon alternative to the Galaxy-X. However, after listening to your feedback, and talking to the team, we’ve decided to shoot for making the Guramba available in-game via emblem purchase instead. Keep an eye on the threads in the C-Store and Promotions forum for more updates on this.

Now that is good news! :D

That is good news, I hope it is something that takes more time than the other ships and is possibly extended to the Galaxy X as well. Since they've decided to compare this ship to the Galaxy X.

I paid for it, and won't ask for a refund. I had always planned on paying for it, so my complaint was not that I paid for it, but that others had no other choice.

By the same reasoning the people that bought it when it was a c store ONLY should have the same choice .

Perhaps, I can't speak for them, just myself. That's why I said, I won't be asking for a refund.

I cannot seem them giving *refunds*. I can, however, see them giving you C-store credit for your purchase if you give them enough emblems. That way, they don't lose the cash, and you get to spend your Cryptic Points on another purchase of your choice.

I am now curious if the Gal X will also be available in game. Seems fair imo since there was talk that the guramba will be the kdf referral counterpart

Cryptic could say that there will be no refund, and paying for the ship could be considered paying for earlier access then those who get it by emblems. Like the Head-Start access for STO. Not that I agree with that line of reasoning, I think people should get -some- of their Cryptic Points back. But not all. At the moment those of you who have the Guramba, you paid for it, and you're benefiting from it and enjoying it(I hope). You are currently getting what you paid for. Others getting it in other ways doesn't mean you aren't getting what you paid for.

    Good news?!?

To any Federation player, this is more or less:

Oh, look: The Klingons get another ship that ACTUALY DOES DAMAGE.

Meanwhile, us feds are stuck with... what, exactly: A Defiant with cloak, an Galaxy with saucer seperation, and a Voyager with ablative hull armor, which SHOULD be on the Prometheus according to Canon...

Anyway, all of those abilities are not really useful in PvP

And what else do we have: a glorified Galaxy class with some sort of wierd phaser, and the Nebula.

    Seriously... the NEBULA???

Is it just me, or is the Klingon faction the only faction that seems to get the ships that work for Tac officers.

Honestly, that has to stop. I say: Give Fed Tac officers a ship they can actually USE for once, even if it's just a Prometheus with blue phaser cannons instead of orange. Just SOMETHING we can use!

The defiant is a very good ship, especially for PvP, thanks to the cloak.
The galaxy is not a bad ship either, especially separated.
The intrepid hull armor is a big plus, especially in PvP and it does not belong canon wise to the Prometheus.

Do you even play PvP or just inventing things to have something to rage about?

    Excuse me?

    Defiant works for Tac Officers
Excelsior Refit works for Tac Officers
    Galaxy-R works for Tac Officers
Even Intrepid works for Tac Officers

I suspect that the in-game cost will not be trivial, especially not compared to the costs for ships we already have with in-game cost. It certainly won't be available for a plain refit token. So paying 25 $ or whatever might still be ... simpler then trying to earn the necessary Emblems in-game.

My sig should have answered that silly question.

I fly it and, it deals less damage. The ship has a few issues. The T5 raptor has cloak, so if all else were equal, would do more dps due to that. And this gap will also slightly grow with the changes that will be coming to ensign level tactical skills. That's minor.

The problem lies with siege mode. It doesn't net you extra DPS. The +10 attack power is meaningless due to the 135 cap. It just means you need double the number of attack presets or else waste that extra attack power when in siege mode or do less damage when not in siege mode. The turn rate reduction encourages the use of lower DPS weapons, DBBs instead of DC/DHCs. Doesn't force it, but does encourage it. And even in easy PvE land, you'll lose some DPS just due to the turn rate issue.

Firing the javelin is a loss of DPS unless you hit more than one target, which isn't very feasible and, even when you do, you're usually better off killing one target faster by not using the javelin than by wounding two. Even from a burst damage standpoint, it isn't very impressive. The DPS lost from the firing animation time hurts there as well. You'd wind up doing a better spike in 3s by firing for 3, then using BO 3. Though that mostly matters for PvP. And there, you can get that and cloak in the raptor.

Mind you, the ship on the whole isn't far behind the T5 escorts and raptors. It is quite playable. Out of siege mode, the ship is fine. But siege mode and the Javelin need some minor tweaks to make them worth using. The attack power bonus should go to either shield or become a straight damage bonus. The javelin could stand to have a slightly lower firing time. And, personally, I'd like to see the turn rate reduction reduced and a self snare added to make up for that reduction.

    But enough of that aside.

I still use siege mode because it looks cool and PvE is simple enough anyway.

No comment from the devs yet.

But in another thread, when someone asked about the destroyer, I believe it was Stormy who said I was right on both counts, those counts being that it would be C-Store and in game (so not referral program) and that, if they didn't lower the price, it would be very expensive in game.

That doesn't eliminate the possibility of them lowering the price, but that would lead to hassles with those of us who already paid $25. I'd expect it to be very pricey in terms of emblems. Figure 500 or more.

Rule # 7 of any MMO
"don't buy the newest thing to come along in the game store, wait and you might get it for free."

    Rule # 12
"MMO's waffle more than Bill Clinton on whether or not he likes fat chicks, eventually the MMO will find balance for both sides and then Clinton wont have to answer the question."

I have a ton of these........................ try me.

I have a question about the Garumba and firing the Javelin.

How long does it take for the Javelin to get fully powered up to fire?

I got the ship on Friday the 14th, and played around with it.

I'm not seeing the icon for the Javelin turning fully WHITE to indicate that it's ready to fire.
I've put the ship in siege mode, wait for it to draw power from the enemy ship and have got my ship
as close to being head on as possible, ready for it to fire at enemy.

    Any tips would be appreicated.

    Thanks!
