Hi all,
I'm doing a voting contest at Starbase UGC for the best of the best Tribble missions. Please visit and vote by leaving a comment on the blog. Or, if you don't want to register for the site, you can vote in this thread.
You can submit up to 3 of your fav tribble missions, and the top five with the most votes will get listed in our Tribble mission spotlight on every page of the blog. You cannot suggest missions that you created yourself, only missions that others have made.
Voting happens between now and the 25th of Jan. Then, the winners will get listed as the best of the best at the top of every page of the blog. We'll also do something special for those missions on the UGC Wiki.
Although you can vote now, I would really encourage you to wait, play more missions, and then vote near the 25th. Or, edit your posts accordingly between now and then based on the missions that you play.
The winners will get site exposure for at least a month, if not longer. If Foundry goes to Holodeck on Feb. 1, for example, we'll have a new month of voting, while the previous winners will remain in the spotlight.
Please vote:

I'd feel bad self nominating and I can't get anyone else to play mine. haha. Good idea thou.
I second this.
When's the vote cutoff?
Sorry, I should put that in the post. We'll vote until the 25th, and the winners will get site exposure for at least a month.
Just go ahead & vote now... and I'll just freakin' rage quit...
Why even bother making anything when you already made up your mind...
In Fact why even bother with this post... not like anyone but the 3 or 4 of us are reading it...
In fact why not just make "The Syndicate Extraction" your first poster boy mission now... why wait for anymore votes or try any other missions... you've obviously made up your mind.
Yeah, I'm going to wait until the last minute. There are so many I need to play before voting. They did only vote for 1 though, so they may vote for more as they play more.
I'm not sure if you're addressing the other parts of the post to me. I haven't played the Syndicate or the Longing or Deep Space 11 or any other of the well known missions.
Hmm... maybe I can edit the post to make things less predictable though.
Thanks Alot LOP and Nagus... I expected more from you guys but I guess I was wrong. Thanks for the freakin' support and a Fair Chance.
I think you can nominate any mission, including ones that are currently on the Review Content tab. If you really like something you've played, then put forward a nomination. I'm honored that mine got some nominations so far.
But there are many I've played that I would like to nominate, like:
The Longing by RachelGarret
Starfleet Academy Kobayashi Maru by jake81nx
Shadows of Our Fathers part 2 by captbavo
Sleeper Agent by chemkarate
The Worst of All Worlds by Captain_Revo
and many more I can't even remember I've played so far.
But since I can only choose three, my votes are probably for:
The Longing
Starfleet Academy Kobayashi Maru
...and I'll leave my third option open for any new ones I might discover between now and the 25th while votes are open.
I'm going to go play some missions. Maybe even Rescue by Napoleon_blownapart if he hasn't rage quit
I hate to say it, but I really dont play on playing any of your missions after that reaction. The fact that I really enjoyed and voted for Galactrix mission is not an insult or personal attack on you, its just my opinion. Your response is pretty disturbing. That said; if I do play a mission I like more between now and the 25th, I'll edit my post.
I don't know about the Nagus, but if you want to blame me for anything you can blame me for not playing a lot of missions before casting my vote, however, the whole beauty of forums, polls and voting systems is that until the 25th, we're supposed to be able to change our votes, aren't we?
it is tough enough to even make well written and well executed missions but to be rejected without due consideration strikes a tender nerve for me...
I have great hopes for the Foundry and for all authors to have their day in the sun and have tried very hard to be helpful and to review as many missions as I can & try to be helpful to the community at large.
It seemed very pre-mature for the casting of votes at this time for something weeks down the road & I accept the willingness to edit your choices in light of future experiences.
To be honest I saw this post earlier in the day and the thought crossed my mind that I had not really experienced any missions that met my criteria of 5 stars even though I've reviewed about 30 so far. It seemed ludicrous to cast a vote without sampling more of what is available.
In fact the ratings thing is a writers nightmare that only brought up shadows of my past in the Music business. I labored in obscurity for many, many years and when my chance came my own brother stabbed me in the back just like I knew he would.
Same holds true now... I try to give support to whomever needs it and hope we can all work together for the benefit of ourselves and our gaming community. I'm hopeful for good things to happen and hope somebody will actually try the missions I've created.... but I expect the knife in my back and to just be casually thrown aside - so I get a little anxious and lash out occasionally and for that I sincerely apologize...
Sorry about what your brother did and you're right about the rating system. Rating systems, as far as I've experienced are popularity contests masquerading behind thinly veiled subjective reasoning.
What we truly need is a system that allows a player to assign a Show/Ignore Boolean value to a list of criteria and each mission should be voted upon by the players as for how it matches the criteria. This should allow us a more customized and personally tailored system to feed relevant missions to us. If you include a "Show me missions my friends/fleet-mates also enjoyed", it'd be a near perfect. Sadly though, this system is probably the least feasible for Cryptic to implement at this time and so, we're stuck with a rating system.
I tried to say the same thing in the CoH AE closed beta and Paragon Studios was probably exactly at the same spot Cryptic is now. "We need some sort of system, like right now, and we cannot wait for the best system to be implemented."
I sincerely hope that despite the knife in your back or occasionally finding your missions in the "Haven't been played for months" pile you will continue to support the community as hopefully all of us will. I know that knife in the back and the piled-on dust of unuse will be my share and probably most of us will experience it, which is exactly why we should all stay level-headed about spotlight votes like this.
After all, this is for fun and fun alone and I think we'd be doing the community a disservice if we allow ourselves to forget that.
It's obvious what the problems are and not-so-obvious are the solutions.
No one wants to be ignored or left out and the Painful Facts of Life will step in and do what they will... it is beyond my control and perhaps that is the most frustrating thing of all.
Oh, I don't really deserve any of the credit at all. I noticed that Galactrix said he enjoyed and recognized the author name from SBUGC. And from there, well, you know how it went.
