Using Earth Spacedock

I'm trying to create a project wherein the mission is initiated by a contact who the player will meet on in a certain place on Earth Spacedock. To be more specific, the mission accept/deny dialogue comes up and asks the player to join him in another part of Earth Spacedock in a few minutes if the player is so inclined. However, I'd like this meeting to take place on *populated* Earthdock, not an Earth Spacedock map I've created. I'd like to just place the NPC contact somewhere on regular Earthdock, then have them talk and then have a map change to a custom and the mission goes on from there. Is this possible in the Foundry?

Apologies if this has been addressed before -- I searched and didn't find anything covering this.

If I understand what you are asking, the answer is, you cannot do this at the moment. Right now ESD-Prime is locked from players adding contacts onto that map. You can however populate your ESD to look similar to what we already have, hell, you can even explain away not having the same characters in the same spots by setting your meeting during night shift or something, so you don't have to go to all the pain of trying to create an instance of every mob presently on ESD. Otherwise you will have to try this. Have a presently on the map contact give the mission to meet so and so somewhere else, and then spawn over to your map of ESD and have the spawn point where you want it.

Thank you for the timely response :) You have it correct as per my intentions. It's unfortunate that I can't do it the way I want to, but your suggestions are apt -- I'll figure something out. Thanks again

Yeah its unfortunate, but its also meant so that users can't clutter (or exploit god forbid) ESD with contacts. Maybe in the future we can have a generic set of contacts scattered throughout the station that we can use for missions.

They already have that. Captain Ford, Starfleet Liason, Bar Patron, Commander Futawhatsit, Independent Trade ship captain, market speculator... they put in a bunch of NPCs specifically for UGC.

But someday I hope they open it up to include the real people like getting missions from Admiral Quinn and such.

And that shows how much I have used ESD for missions so far *bow*

The best you can do is use the existing contacts for your mission...Captain Ford is a popular one alot of players use
