Pre-made Ship Interiors ...

I'm trying to put together a decent Starfleet ship interior, and I'm finding it a bit tough with the available Interior map elements. So, I've decided to try modifying a pre-made interior and now have a few questions...

So far, I've been playing around with the "War Games" interior.

1) is it plain cheesy to re-use a map that may be recognizable from the original Cryptic mission?

2) I'm trying to divide a big cargo bay into two rooms, but I can't match the walls that were used in the original map, any suggestions? (see attached screenshot)

3) Are we going to be able to change pre-made elements in these maps at some point? like, for example, select and move around cargo boxes, consoles, fires, etc?

thanks, as always!

I wish there was some way to set up a some kind of share option. Spent a hole day making a shuttle bay that is only uesd for tops 20 secs. If I could I would share It but the is Beta so I am sure something like will hapen in the future.

I did the same thing: spent two hours designing Cardassia Prime's surface map (which looks awesome) only to use it for a minute worth of dialogue.

Still, I love establishing shots and it added a degree of flavor to the mission.

I saved that pic, it really was a great job you did there.:)

Thanks. If the Y-Axis was working, I was going to have more people running through the streets. :D

Eventually down the road what I would like to see would be a modular system where we can assemble interior maps from prefab parts. What I see is something best described as something akin to the Bioshock hacking system. You have your map grid and you take prefab pieces and drop them into the map grid so that they link. There would of course need to be some check to make sure you don't leave a corridor open to space or something akin to that, though I don't know that there is an environmental variable for hull breach (though this would be really really nifty, especially if we can couple it with a timed instance of an emergency force field kicking in...thoughts for another thread)

Bear in mind with my limited knowledge of the engine, I do now know how feasible this would be. It would, of course, require the creation of brand new assets, because you would have to build variations of every faction corridor, with a possible 5 versions of each (pristine, run down, damaged, heavily damaged, destroyed). There would be other factors as well, room types, corridor differences and direction. By no means would this proposal be a small feat, but I think if we could see something akin to this, it would provide a major improvement to the variety of maps available. There is of course the secondary add on bonus that it would also give the developers themselves a potential platform to create maps with more variety as well.

do you recall what you used to make more 'Starfleet' looking walls?

I'm just hoping that they spice up the available miscellaneous items. It's the little things that really add to the flavor of interior design. For example: It'd be like Christmas all over again if they added in cetecean tanks...

I'd be really happy if we could just get a empty one room map and a bunch more "details". Then you can make it a living quarters, a briefing room, a ready room, a transporter room, whatever floats your boat.

edit: in multiple sizes of course (small, medium, large, etc).

State Secrets. It's a blink and you'll miss moment but I'm a ***** for establishing shots on planet surfaces (just like the series did).
