So space combat is cool and all, but I decided to go a different route with my latest project, which dealt more with an introduction to a two parter and 2 ground combat encounters. I like space combat, but to me Star Trek is about interaction with other races, people and individuals. It' often quite personal to know the enemy you are facing and look them in the eye rather than destroy space ships for the hell of it.
So I am curious, anyone else trying this approach in any of their projects?
A couple of the missions I've made are ground combat based. I never really liked space combat too much since it's always one ships (yours) fighting against 10-15 and you always come out on top. And you never really feel remorse for the crews of said ships. (I watched TNG: The Wounded recently which really reinforced this feeling.) It's just pew pew pew and done. At least on the missions on the ground you don't feel too much like a mass murderer.

I recently played a misison that was just all ground combat and had to take out 14 groups of Fekhiri. So yes, that is something people can do.
Only a short part of the one I am working in space on the one I am working on now. I woulds say it is 80% ground/non-space. Space I have using for key events but not the focus of the mission. I also never say go kill X and make that the mission. That is just week and part of the reason people did not like the patrols missions in the game.
