Kern system patrol

I can't complete the optional objective. I'm not sure i understand it. I'm in a Hegh'ta BoP and geared for heavy DPS, but I can't manage to destroy these ships before they send their communications.

Am I doing something wrong, or is the time limit just ridiculously short?

    Did you jammed their communication?
    I had no problem with the mission or the others on tribble doing the optional objectives.

    I have no idea how to do that. It just said to kill them before they could send signals. there was no button or anything to jam them.

    There is a button on the lower right of your screen. You need to use it to jam them within a couple of seconds after uncloaking.

    Edit: it only appears WHEN you uncloak.
