UGC Interiors??

So...is this gonna happen or...what? Cuz most people don't care about their interiors, but for those of us that love Star Trek for the Starships mostly would love to customize their Starship as well as add new sections. Any word?

DStal said that it would happen eventually, but not any time soon.

Sweet. I'm patient, just hoping it would be the natural evolution. Thanks for the confirmation. Back to New Vegas for the meantime.

There was some chit-chat about that on the latest Priority One podcast. As I understand it, we're given the stock sets used by Cryptic, with no ability as of now to change them. There was a question about whether we would be able to change the height of the rooms on the ship interiors. Apparently the ability to do that would/will require major changes to the game engine which just aren't in the cards right now.

Glad that its at least being discussed. That's one of my biggest irks. The out of proportion interiors nag at my OCD-ness. ;) I did notice on Tribble this weekend that some of the turbolift doors have been resized which is a great start. However, since I create TALL toons, they seem to barely pass through. Guess my 7ft. tall toons will need to learn to duck. :D

oh so no interior creation at launch? well thats a bit dissipointing but i do hope at least you will be able to physically place the objects and NPCS where you want them to be in the pre-made interiors.

I really think they should have held off untill they were able to have some system to make custom interiors however but ...they did say that space systems will be able to be made from scratch so...maybe thats a nice start. and i guess thats easier to do as its basically just a large empty "box " or "sphere" as youd call it which can be populated by space objects and stuff .. though hopefully there is a easy and not so frustrating way to plop down objects in xyz space :-)

We will see. I really am a bit down that custom interiors are not in the foundrey yet.

but i imagine if we at least will have a very large pool of interiors to work with that can be customized with hand placed NPCs and objects then that would be ok.

it would be nice also if some way to adjust the lighting too could add a lot...

but if you really want to give the power to players you will need to eventually have custom interiors otherwise its going to be creating content on the same recycled interior maps... ...

I'm pretty sure they stated ship interior customization will be available before Season 4... though i could be wrong. I think once the foundry gets rolling this would be easy to add in. im not so sure on being able to adjust the height of halls/rooms but being able to select the arrangement of chairs and what not in your quarters should be easy to do once a good base for the foundry has been established. probably even be able to choose colors and maybe even at some point completely create entirely new interiors. though i imagine it will start with selecting objects and placements before creating anything new... sort of like the SIMs.

I know Id be happy with being able to change up my engineering with a different warpcore or layout... maybe they will make options for the different rooms just like the bridge selections instead of using the foundry for it

I'd just like to say, I think a *lot* of people care about their interiors, actually. I do.
